  1. Hello,

I use sodium hydroxide to remove oil and other stains from concrete / asphalt driveways /walkways. Yesterday I was doing a concrete driveway with iron stains from the fertilizer, I could not get them out. What should I add to my chemical list to remove stains like these. I try to keep my chemical inventory simple. yet effective.

    thanks in advance

  2. Hi,

My sodium hydroxide supplier just raised his prices to 14.00 per gallon ( local supplier/ manuf) I was told purple power is a butyl based degreaser good for cleaning aluminum gutters. I usea butyl based detergent now and am wondering what the diference is. Have any of you read the msds of purple power?

Here is what is in my butyl degreaser: hazardous ingredients

    5-10% ethylene glycol monobutyl ether

    < 5% sodium metasilicate

    <5% sodium hydroxide

    1) This is a generic brand manuf. locally. I sthis different from purple power? if so, how?

    2) As mentioned above , my sodium hydroxie went up to 14.00 per gallon

    < 80% sodium hydroxide

Is this a rip off. I use it for oil stains.

    Both are in liquid form.

    thanks

  3. Does water and aluminum create electrolysis which binds mold to the gutter? If so, how can I get moild treaks off gutters? My 3400 psi 4gpm unit does not seem to be pulling much detergent. Any suggestions? Lastly, I use a chemical tip from Pressure tek. It also sprays 30+ feet. I cannot reach the top of a 2nd story house. Without using a ladder , any suggestions.

    thanks

  4. Hi,

Need advice on two(2) recently completed jobs.

    job #1

Custoemr had transmission fluid on concrete drive way for about two weeks. Ilet Sodium hydroxide sit for about 1/2 hr before washing. Got oil off surface ( no longer slippery ) but the fluid stained the concrete. H/O also had metal furniture on the patio. The marble tiling was pourous and left small rust stains I could not get off.

    job #2

I use a downstreamer nozzle from pressure tek. My machine does not appear to be pulling much in th eway of chems. 4 gpm 3400 psi cold water. H/O had mold on 2nd floor dormer my water could not reach and mildew streaks on gutter I could not get off.

What should I do in these cases & how do you handle jobs where you cannot deliver the quality you want.

  5. What do you guys do about buckets if you down stream chems? I use approx 6-9 different types of chems and do not like the idea of rinsing out a bucket then adding something else to it. Would I be better off if I got 6-9 containers for each chemical?

    better safe than sorry!!

  6. Tony in Michigan mentioned he never uses this stuff. I am wondering if you folks use products that contain HF ACID? Places like Prosoco, Eacochem, etc. say it's so diluted most of the danger is gone.

By the way, what is HF and hydrochloric good for cleaning?

  7. hello ,

I am trying to get my gun to look like Alan's does in the post. Where my barrell is connected, there is a brass nut (4 sided) . the gun is made by MV ? It came with my craftsman unit. My question is , it appears my barrell is screwed into the gun via that brass nut. Can I remove that nut and replace it with a qc? My barrell is about 16" long and screws into the wand. I would like to avoid having to buy another gun.

    please advise

  8. Just got my new 16" steel eagle !! My craftsman p.w comes with a gun and wand. There is no quick connect on the gun or wand . They are connected by a bolt. The only quick connect is where the tips go on the wand. Therefore, when I hook up the surface cleaner, my right handle sticks out about 2' more than the left handle. Should I get another gun?
