  1. Play Ground Cleaning

I do alot of them here. Mostly for private day care centers. Most of them have not been done in years, or not cleaned properly in the past. Just use a strong bleach solution with good soap with hot water and the stuff melts off. They do not need to be cleaned very often. Rinse very well. I get about 150.00 per big playground piece. Easy money, but you might not do the same piece for a couple or more years. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  2. X-Jet Proportioners

Sunbrite now sells the individual proportioners. I think you need to buy 5 of the same. Grey, Black and Beige for me all the time. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior
  3. Magnetic Business Cards

You can buy nice 4 color, professional looking ones for about .15 each, maybe a little more. I have a source if you need. She may not be the absolute cheapest, but she is good and reasonable, reliable. I used to put them out on mailboxes in neighborhoods a couple years ago and still get calls today. No way that would happen with a regular card. They put them on the fridge and it is there when they need it. Jeff Robison 678-360-2518
  4. Fun with Bleach and Sodium Hydrox

I wear the Under Armour type shirts. I get the cheap imitation ones from Ross or somewhere like that. For some reason they do not bleach out at all. I normally wear a long sleeve one. They are also very breathable and comfortable. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior
  5. Subject: Oxymorons or Morons

On a good Saturday of college football with 3 good games on at the same time my wife removed one remote control battery while I was in the bathroom. I was going nuts because it worked fine before, pushing buttons, shaking it, cursing it, looking for batteries (of course we had no AAA's at the house). This went on for about 10 minutes until she told me. This is a good practical joke when something good is on. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  6. Electric Hose Reels

I am looking into buying some electric hose reels. What brand is good? How much is reasonable for maybe a two reel stack? Can the power be run off the pressure washer battery? Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  7. logo

Keith is the man (KBK) he designed my post card and commercial flyer. He also handles all of my stuff at my full time job (monthly postcards) Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  8. 50% NaOH

So could it be used as a very cheap soap for gas station cleanups? Degreaser? Is it really dangerous? What precautions would need to be taken. Jeff Robison
  9. 50% NaOH

Pardon my ignorance what is caustic bead used for? I have heard the term a lot and just cannot figure out what it is used to clean. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  10. Machine Covers

I normally remove it before I leave the house. But will all the tie downs it is meant to be driven with it on. I got mine second hand, it has a 2' tear, but I put it at the back of the trailer, so no big deal. It is heavy duty and I like the fact that everything is completely covered. If someone walked up to the machine in the middle of the night, they would have to mess with removing the cover, so I guess it makes it a little more secure as well. I bet you could go to a local marina and find plenty that have been discarded. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  11. Machine Covers

I use a boat cover for my 18' trailer. It covers everything up. Machine, tank, toolboxes, hose reels etc. I had a buddy that was throwing one away that had some small tears. No good for him, but perfect for me. I just put the tear near the back. I like that everything is covered. It also has about 10 tie downs that go all the way around, very nice. 12. I will be entering my third year in the pressure cleaning field and have started to contemplate a few different things. I am really wondering on whether to Diversify the things I clean such as commercial equipment, fleets, staining decks, gutter cleaning, advertising to both commercial and residential? Or focus on one area such as commercial flat work? Make that my focus get aggressive and try to be the absolute best at that field? I have seen companies that seem to be very successful taking both approaches. Henry seems like he does very well being well diversified and stays busy year round with different aspects of his business. I also see companies like Ron ********** that only does commercial flat work and does very well. Sunbrite with Decks, Fleetwashers only, etc. Keep in mind I am a small time operator with me and one helper when needed. I also have no immediate plans to leave my good full time job. I am in Metro Atlanta Georgia, so there is plenty of work, no matter what I would focus on. Actually I enjoy doing both commercial and residential about the same. I am looking to add a part time guy on this year, one that I could send out to complete a job on his own. Just looking for the advise of seasoned pro's out there. As always I appreciate any input that you give. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  13. Best TV series

"My Name is Earl" This show is hilarious. I guess with my Southern roots I am partial to it. The eye candy is nice as well Jamie Presley. This show is written well and the plot is original. Happy Holidays to All. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior
  14. Are you a "Reputable" contractor?

I in no way feel that the JUST because someone is a member of the PWNA that they are "more reputable" than another contractor. However, let me tell you what I have gained this year from being a member and paying the $195.00. I have directly gotten over $10,000 in contracts that were spearheaded by the PWNA. Two seperate accounts that wanted PWNA members to do the work. Valuable feedback from other well established contractors. Whenever I post a question on the PWNA forum, it is not unusual to recieve at least two CALLS, not replies on the forum. Just guys calling to help me out, for no other reason! Although I cannot directly relate it to sales, I know the logo and perception that I do belong to an organization that promotes good cleaning practices has helped. Let's face it their are a lot of guys out there trying to make weekend money (the way I started) and I do feel membership in something only helps seperate you from some competition. I can say "Yes, I am a little higher than most, but here is a reason why" Most of the residential that I target would rather spend another $100-$150 and feel comfortable that I am a step above the rest or will treat their property with respect. Landing these type customers only leads to referrals to other people that have higher priced properties as well. Membership in ANY organization is what you make it!!! Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, PWNA, BOMA. If you use the contacts and participate the rewards are usually a lot greater than the cost. This is what I have gotten for my $195.00. It really is a small price. Do not let your opinions be jaded by the comments of a few people that you disagree on a point or two. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  15. Customer complaint

Use magnetic business cards!! They are fairly cheap, look professional, and I have gotten calls months later. They put it on their fridge and call you when they need something. Last year that was the only way I solicited business and did quite well. One call will pay for hundreds of magnetic business cards. You also do not run into situations like this. I only had one complaint call all season. Just a very old dude who really did not have anything else to do. I smoothed it over, I lied and told him I just lost my job, just trying to support my family blah, blah blah. He had me come out and do his patio!!! Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  16. 2-man rig questions

I got the spray bar (single spray bar) with 4 nozzles for my big guy. I was floored by the difference over 2 nozzles. I did two nasty driveways last week and almost could not make it tiger stripe and overlap marks are a thing of the past!! As a side note. I have found it faster to just have the two of us clean the house at the same time. 4 gpm on each gun with x-jets. And then clean concrete with the full 8 gpm on the surface cleaner. After we finish the house. I put up the chem's, roll hoses, settle up with the homeowner and take it easy while my employee is doing the driveway and sidewalks. I just did not like the uneveness and spikes and lows that I got when using the surface cleaner on one line and cleaning a house on the other. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  17. I am looking for some good mid grade recovery equipment at a good price. Probably a vacuum, Vacuboom, or similar. Not looking to spend a fortune, just get compliant. But probably more than a sump pump. If you have anything I may be interested in please let me know. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  18. Anyone have a used Deckster for sale. I am interested in picking one up at a good price if anyone is looking to get rid of one. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  19. The Blue Book

No it was not, here in Atlanta. But these are the types of things I have seen. Nothing expressly needing pressure cleaning. I am not into new construction and just did not see the pay off. Remember a lot of people are also getting the same leads as well, making it an immediate competitive (low profit) bid. I have someone who wants me to split the ad costs and split any resulting work. That is the reason I have wanted to see the bids. The sales rep was supposed to send me any bids while I was making my decision (5 weeks, no bids that he has sent!!!) Jeff Robison Titan Exterior
  20. The Blue Book

I have talked with someone who advertises with them. I have seen the last 3 leads they have gotten. The leads seem very vague. Like "School addition" 30,000 sq ft building. But this job has not started, nor has the land been cleared. They are asking for everything, plumbers, electricians............ Yes pressure washing will be a part of this, down the road. In summary the leads seem very vague, but I guess the potential is there. Not going to invest at this point. Jeff Robison Titan exterior 678-360-2518
  21. Web Sites

Keith also did a very nice post card for me. Reasonable price and easy to work with. Always had proofs, revisions, etc on time. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  22. Inversion tables

Cujo, do you know what is wrong? I have a chiropractor here in Duluth, that works on us (about 8 national/world level competitive powerlifters) He is great and realizes people can't "take it easy for 6 weeks" He can work on you and get you back in shape. Let me know. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
  23. Regulating Pressure

Use a bigger nozzle size. Say go from a 4.0 nozzle to a 6.0 or something like that. There is a widely used chart that is on the internet somewhere that shows the correlation between nozzle size and pressure. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior
  24. Are you Ready For Some Football??

Yes I am nervous about that one as always. They are tough year after year. I think Urban will bring some more fire to these guys. Time will tell.
  25. Are you Ready For Some Football??

I casually follow and support the Falcons. But college football is where it is at!!!. Getting fired up to see the the GA Bulldogs can do some damage in the SEC. We open against a tough Boise State. We should be able to tell from the first game if we have anything or not. Sept. 3 we are having a kickoff party with a keg and will fire up the grill. I can't wait. Jeff Robison Titan Exterior 678-360-2518
