Chlorine damage
ValleyPressureWashing replied to cwarrior's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Doesn't sound like the mix was too strong so I would just tell the customer that sometimes certain plants and trees act differently. Tell them you will come back to look at it in about 3 weeks, that way you can tell if the leaves are growing out or if the tree is dead. I suspect the tree is ok. -
Chlorine damage
ValleyPressureWashing replied to cwarrior's question in Residential Pressure Washing
How are you applying the house wash mix? If my calculations are correct, that mix shot straight on the house with no additional dilution is 10% chlorine (I could be wrong) but most house wash mixes seem to be from 1.25-2% chlorine. I'm not sure about the area that you live in pertaining to the gulf salt. -
Almost finished and BAM!!!!
ValleyPressureWashing replied to ValleyPressureWashing's question in The Club House
Scott, Do you have a link to this federal law? The only reason I ask is that it would be good information to have. I never see any guys around here having cones behind their vehicles, much less when they have a trailer hooked up. Russ, The way this street runs, I don't think extra cones would have helped because the road bears to the left so she hit the only cone that she could've even if I had extra cones out. Oh well, so is life. -

Russ, I had an orange cone set out on the back left side of the truck and she took it out but to hear this lady tell her story, the car somehow turned right and ran into my truck. I'm sure she was texting and not paying attention because she didn't apply her brakes. I guess I might buy some extra cones after I replace the one she took out, just to protect myself and do what the cox communication people do and put them all around their vans when they park. Sucks cause I just bought the truck in August. -
I was finishing up a house wash this afternoon. I only had about 15 minutes left when I heard a loud noise. I looked around the side of the house and saw my truck rolling forward and hit an explorer that was parked 6 feet in front of it. Some woman had just run into my parked truck because she wasn't paying attention. I'm assuming she was texting. After they pulled her car away from my truck, I was able to get my pump started again and finish the job. I guess I should be glad I wasn't rolling up my hose when she decided to slam into my truck.

brick patio question
ValleyPressureWashing replied to c4org's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I typically don't use chemicals on brick flatwork unless I'm trying to kill mildew or remove rust stains. If you post some pictures, you might get more help. As far as pricing, it all depends on the total amount of sq. ft. plus how dirty it is. You are in NY so I'm sure your prices are higher than in my area. Most people on these boards talk about figuring out how much you want to make per hour and price it accordingly. Good luck! BTW...I don't know about using the stripper on this...seems like a waste of chemicals but some other guys here may chime in and tell you something different. -
Freaked out now!
ValleyPressureWashing replied to Aqua Pro's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Did you see any food or water bowls around the deck? Chew toys? There is a chance that some of the SH got on those and the dog either drank some water or chewed on the toy. I've never had that happen. It's probably just coincidence. If the homeowner calls you and blames you, I would get the Vet's number and call them to find exactly what they told the homeowner. If it doesn't sound right to you, I would call another vet and ask them some questions. Good luck. -

Pictures would help. -
A while back I didn't know how to respond or I guess I didn't pay attention. Thanks for the cheer but we didn't hold up our end of the deal. Good luck against Northwestern in your bowl game.

Here are some of the before and after pictures. The homeowner said it was the best that his house had looked in years! He also gave me some referrals and a testimonial. Gotta love that! -
New Deck and Fence Staining (30-60 days)
ValleyPressureWashing replied to ValleyPressureWashing's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks Ken. I thought I had read on here to wait at least 3 months on new wood. Now I have a new fence to stain. :) -
New Deck and Fence Staining (30-60 days)
ValleyPressureWashing posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I talked to a contractor today who informed me that they are requiring their customers to have the new decks and fences stained within 30-60 days of completion or they will not warranty them. I had always been told that you need to wait 3 to 6 months before you stain new wood. The contractor told me that the wood curing method and formula that the lumber plants are using has changed. Are any of you hearing this? Thanks.
