  1. Rock'n & Scrubb'n

:bandplay: If I was to jump in your work truck right now and crank it up what would I hear coming from your radio / cd player? Does this help you get through the day or pump you up for your next job? Or is it just a way to kill time.
  2. Exterior Gutter Cleaning

Purple Power is $3.50 a gallon here, and it works like a charm. :D
  3. New PW Org Poll

This thread had nothing at all to do with the pwna. As a matter of fact I dont see anything in the original post that had anything to do with the pwna. If we want to read about "how great" the pwna is we can go to their website or read a thread that has the pwna in the subject. Maybe the pwna should be more concerned with fixing the problems they have and listening to their members and not spending all this time worried about another org.
  4. Here's an open invite to everyone to join us on thursday nights for Open Topic Chat here in the Grime Scene chat room. This chat has been growing every week and we would love to see you there. It starts at 8pm EST and goes until the coffee pot runs dry, which can take hours if need be :D This is yet another way the Grime Scene offers you, to get to know each other, network with others and possibly help someone out along the way. Even if you only have a few minutes, stop in and say hello if you can. We might even let you in on our little secret..... ;) disclaimer: ok, so there is no "little secret" .. it's just something I said to encourage you to stop in and say hello, but I will share some coffee if you do. But dont tell anyone!!
  5. Well, wadda ya think? ;)

I like the colors of the new look, but I like the layout of the old look a little better. What is the set standard now for new members?
  6. Are there many "boot camps" out there for wood cleaning and restoration? List those you know of and what you thought about them. Thanks.
  7. First Aid for Eye Emergencies Knowing what to do for an eye emergency can save valuable time and possibly prevent vision loss. Here are some instructions for basic eye injuries. Be Prepared! Wear eye protection for all hazardous activities and sports-at school, home, and on the job. Stock a first aid kit with a rigid eye shield and commercial eyewash before an eye injury happens. DO NOT assume that any eye injury is harmless. When in doubt, see a doctor immediately. Chemical Burns to the Eye In all cases of eye contact with chemicals: Immediately flush the eye with water or any other drinkable liquid. Hold the eye under a faucet or shower, or pour water into the eye using a clean container. Keep the eye open and as wide as possible while flushing. Continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. DO NOT use an eyecup. If a contact lens is in the eye, begin flushing over the lens immediately. This may wash away the lens. ยท DO NOT bandage the eye. Seek immediate medical treatment after flushing. Specks in the Eye DO NOT rub the eye Try to let tears wash the speck out or use an eyewash. Try lifting the upper eyelid outward and down over the lower lid. If the speck does not wash out, keep the eye closed, bandage it lightly, and see a doctor. Blows to the Eye Apply a cold compress without putting pressure on the eye. Crushed ice in a plastic bag can be taped to the forehead to rest gently on the injured eye In cases of pain, reduced vision, or discoloration (black eye), seek emergency medical care. Any of these symptoms could mean internal eye damage. Cuts and Punctures of the Eye or Eyelid DO NOT wash out the eye with water or any other liquid. DO NOT try to remove an object that is stuck in the eye. Cover the eye with a rigid shield without applying pressure. The bottom half of a paper cup can be used. See a doctor at once. This information and more can be found on www.preventblindness.org
  8. I would also have to suggest you staryt out part time, at least for a few months. Barry made a great suggestion on having 6 months worth of "bill money" to make sure your covered. I would hate to see someone quit their job, jump in over their head, and decide they dont like the job or its just not working out. Work 1 - 2 days a week, and see how you like it. You dont need the biggest unit to get started. Depending on what your going to be cleaning, buy something that fits your needs and upgrade as you go. If you set a business plan with some short term goals, when you achieve them then take the next step, make some longer goals, challenge yourself more and dont forget to have some fun along they way.
  9. My mind is in the Gutter

Big difference Tony, what did you use?
  10. My mind is in the Gutter

I put purple power to the test today, the mix I used was 2 parts water to 1 part purple power. Lighty brushed, then rinsed off. Took me longer to mix it then it did to clean with it. Is there a place to buy this in bulk? Heres a photo of a downspout cleaned, you can see the difference from top to bottem.
  11. Spare Parts?

An extra pair of dry socks. :)
  12. Flyer Help!

Door hangers: http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2592&highlight=flyers Flyer Examples for newbies: http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2227&highlight=flyers Questions about business cards: http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2857&highlight=flyers And I'm sure others that make their own flyers will chime in and help out also.
  13. I was on vacation down in Florida this past weekend. I saw something there that I am still laughing about today... so of course I had to take a picture of it to share. Look at the attached photo. :lolsign: All I can wonder is... Why did the Chicken cross the road??
  14. Pssssst!! Guess what?

Umm Henry, you had time to post 8 replies in this thread? Whats wrong with a little teaser? It builds anticipation and that can help when releasing or presenting a new product. I'm waiting to find out just like the rest of us :beerchug:
  15. I had a welcome mat in one of my entry way rooms that gets alot of sun. The rubber matter on the bottem of the welcome mat bled out red all over my vinyl (linoleum) floor and I cant seem to get it off. Any suggestions? I know from cleaning carpet, that a dye transfer is really hard to remove without re-dying the carpet but I was hoping a hard surface would be easier. I've tried many household cleaners, Mr Clean magic eraser and a few of my own cleaners but no luck. Thanks for any suggestions.
  16. Does everybody start out as a "lowballer"?

Last truck we bought, I walked out of the dealership 3 times because they would not give me the deal I wanted. Finally it was thier choice, sell the truck for what I want to pay for it or dont sell a truck today. A short time later they called me back and gave me my deal.
  17. Pssssst!! Guess what?

How would you know what shen knew, if I know what she knew that you might know that we know what you know that she knew. Understand?
  18. I've noticed alot of Equipment suppliers are pushing their products advertising 5000PSI and in fine print you see somthing like 3GPM, which to me from what I know so far is not that great. I'd rather have a machine with 2800PSI and 5GPM then a machine with 5000PSI and 3GPM.
  19. Regional Chats

I was reading a thread about chat topics this morning, and I had an idea. How about Regional Chats? We already have regional forums for announcements, but this would be even better. What I had in mind is we could have a volunteer for each region, take a poll and see which day and time would work for others in their area. We could then ask beth to list some kind of schedule to let others know about chat dates and times for thier region. I am thinking this would make it really easy to network with and get to know other contractors in your area. This would also make it easier to plan roundtables and other special events in your area. It doesnt have to be anything long and drawn out and should not take up to much extra time, its just a little get together online to see whats going on in your region. If someone wanted to they could also bring in "special guest" to talk about various topics for their area, but just a simple meet & greet would be a great way to start. I guess this would almost be a kind of "online roundtable" of sorts. Of course others would be allowed to come and take part in other regions chat. :D With the amount of new guys who want to meet others and ask questions, and the amount of guys who just want to be able to network with others close by this could be a good thing. Just an idea I thought I would toss out and see if there was an interest.
  20. Regional Chats

I encourage others to look into maybe doing this in your area, if you dont have the time to do it weekly, do it bi weekly or monthly as it can be a great help. Even someone new could help, you dont have to know much, just set up a time and day in advance, let others in your area know about it.
  21. Dye Transfer on Vinyl Floor

Unfortunately I think your right. Funny thing is I put a bigger rug down, and now the red stuff spread (the new rug does not have the red rubber backing like the old rug so its not new, its the old stuff) ..anyways now its spread out in a bigger square, kinda fun that it will do that but I cant seem to get it cleaned up.
  22. Old Post ?

Snow Lover, Welcome to the Grime Scene. I'm sure Ron will answer your question as soon as he see's it, I have not heard anything about hime creating a book. With the FAQ area here on this BBS (click the FAQ button on the top of the page) and the SEARCH function (by clicking the Search button on the top of this page) you can find ALL KINDS of valuable information that should be useful to you. Dont be afraid to ask a question if you cant find the answer on one of the many post here. Roundtables have been happening alot more often as well, if you can make it to one you can also learn alot there. We are also trying to set up scheduled chats in the chat room here, Beth already has one set up for Thursdays at 9pm, you can also get some useful information there as well. Again, welcome to The Grime Scene! :beerchug:
