Great Forum...TY...repeat business question
Mike replied to SprinklerGuy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Welcome to TGS. There are many "woodies" here that I'm sure would be more then happy to help. I just wanted to jump in and welcome you to the forum. -

They dont work well when the gutters are filled with wet leaves which sometimes become matted down. If your cleaning dry gutters they work like a charm. Even after it rains and then is dry for many days, the "junk" in the gutters could still be wet and matted down.

There is nothing anyone here can do about it. There will ALWAYS be someone out there who underbids you, whatever you want to call them is up to you. Just because someone underbids you does not mean they dont have insurance, a brain, ect..... The only thing you can do is make yourself look better. Make your company look like the best one out there. Help the customer to understand why you charge what you do, and what better results they will get with going with you. Show them photos, educate them about professional products, help them to understand. Then, if they still dont go with you, walk away and try again with someone else. Some people will always shop by price, why do you think Wal-Mart is doing so well? But you know what? So are High end Department stores because other people choose quality. Stop worrying about what the other guy is doing, all that time could be spent helping to market your own company. Like I said before, you can run one quote "lowballer unquote out of business, but then 3 more pop up the following weekend. They will always come and go, show your customer that your here to STAY!

Any tips for using the gutter cleaning attatchment
Mike replied to tinman's topic in Window & Gutter Cleaning
They are nice for flushing out gutters, but not very good at cleaning a gutter out. Nothing beats a ladder and a bucket for that job. use the gutter tip to flush the gutters afterwards with clean water so you know they water flow is working correctly. -
Thankfully, now we can quit hearing about the undefeated season in the news everyday and worry about more important things, like the National Championship and the SUPER BOWL :) Now the old geezers from the 72 dolphins can drink their champagne, thats if they can still pick up the glass. I imagine you wont see the starters play much in Seattle, and play maybe a half of football against Arizona the last week.

I'll probably catch a lot of heat over this one, but hear me out anyways...Theres nothing anyone can do about quote "lowballers" unquote in the industry. There will always be someone out looking to make a quick dollar. You can report one to the law for violations and then 3 more pop up around the corner. That approach will never work. Posting photos of him on a bulletin board he might even come to and read wont really work. What will? Who knows? Why not try going up to the guy and talking to him about what he's doing. Tell him how he might be able to do it better. Then tell him what he should be charging to do it and how he's losing money. That way he wont be such a strain on the industry and we all look better in the public eye. You will never be able to totally eliminate quote "lowballers" unquote, so lets try something else?I know some of you think I'm crazy for saying all this, but its just my opinion! :)

So let me see if I got this right? ..when you register with a hosting company, you have to get permission if you want to move your domain name to a different server? How do you get around having to do that? I thought when you buy the name, its yours. I'm also looking at setting up a web page. Thanks for the information.

I agree with your point Scott, but thats an Organization promoting themselves. The only thing you can do is continue to run your company the way you do and prove that comments made are wrong.
-
Make sure you score more then 3 points in the first half if you want to have a chance! :) The last touchdown was a fluke, Defense was playing soft because the game was won. Thats not an excuse though. Good Game!

For those of you that store equipment and or chemicals at home or in your garage, do you charge yourself rent so you can write it off? Is it even possible and or legal to do that?
-
Does it make a difference if it is a detached garage, not joined to the house?

Staring with Home Depot's Excell 3700psi
Mike replied to Fire Water's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Ignore negative comments and get as much education about what your going to do before you do it. To answer the question about equipment, there are alot of sucessful companies out here that started out the same way your talking about and have done great. One day you will want to upgrade your equipment though so make your company stand out from others. Welcome to the board also! -
I agree with you 100%, just having fun giving you a hard time. It's going to be a great game for sure, a fight to the end for the AFC south. Its to bad to see the Jags having to look for a wildcard to get in the playoffs when the Patriots that were 6-5 last I checked are division leaders and would get into the playoffs. Good luck Sunday, but I do hope you lose :) GO COLTS!
-
Not only will we beat the Jags, but when we do, we clinch the AFC South from you :)
-
(singing) da da da ... another one bites the dust! :bandplay: 12-0!
-
Hey Rob, thanks for joining the group. Make yourself at home, and enjoy the board. Are you in the Janitorial & Home Cleaning field? Welcome again!
-
Barry, dont forget, if Denver keeps winning, the Colts will have to keep winning to secure Home field for the playoffs, so lets go Denver! Since when is playing Pittsburgh with one of the best Defense in the league and Cincinnatti with one of the best offense in the league playing a soft schedule? Shall I go on? :) I guess only time well tell, and we will all have fun watching it fold out, it should be a great end of the NFL season. I think one thing we can all agree on is no teams from the NFC hold a cnace of beating the powerhouses from the AFC in the big dance.
-
Welcome aboard guys! Good things your in Florida, the only kind of business you can start up here in january is snow plowing :) Good luck, work smart and most of all have fun!
-
Lance I think the florida sunshine is blinding you if you think the Jags are going to beat the Colts. :) The 2 games I am worried about are the Seahawks and the Chargers. I would love to see them go 16-0, but not as much as I would love to see a superbowl championship, the record is just icing on the cake. Shane, you've finally taken the paperbag off huh? ;) Nice way to blow a big lead to the Rams, when the Rams were playing their 3rd string QB. Go Colts
