  1. Gum Busters

Jon, thanks alot for the information! I'm not sure how it would work in small town USA, but was interested in hearing more about it.
  2. The good "old" days

Yeah I got alot of questions answered at http://www.biodiesel.org and http://www.biotrucker.com It would be nice to see our country headed in in the direction of cleaner burning and cheaper to produce fuels. I liked one of the slogans I ran across saying America's Farmers fueling America's Truckers.
  3. Gum Busters

Thanks for the link Scott, but still no price information on that site either.
  4. Thought I might bump this thread up the list and welcome the new members that have joined recently. :D WELCOME!
  5. Gum Busters

Jon, how much do the machines run? The Gumbusters website is not really imformative.
  6. The good "old" days

Good question Jon, I have also wondered how when there is something like a hurricane that hits the gulf coast, why does that effect the gas already in station tanks up here in the midwest? I guess I would understand it more if prices went up a few days after the hurricane when new gas was delivered and not the same day the storm is hitting down south which seems to happen time and time again. How is that not price gouging? I dont know if we will ever see gas below 2.50 a gallon ever again, maybe we need to become a country less reliant on crude oil and find alternatives. I remember reading an article in a magazine a few weeks ago in my Dr's office where a guy had modified a small car to run off of used grease from a potato chip factory. Now I am not saying we should all run off to frito lay and stock up on grease, but if this guy can create something like this why dont we see more of it? The oil companys hold to much power. :soapbox: ok I'll get off the soapbox now, like I said, we were just looking through old photos and found that one showing the "old days" gas prices.
  7. Gum Busters

I dont know why people cant walk 2 feet to the left and throw their gum away in the trash can and not spit it on the ground. I am interested in learning more about gumbusters myself, the webpage is not very imformative.
  8. State of Affairs-Bulletin Boards

The one thing I would do if I had a "magic wand" is make all the contractor forums hidden from the general public, and only open to contractors, leaving the DIY forums open to everyone. Other then that I feel the BBS is a great tool for business and making it easier to network with others, not to mention make a few friends. Nice to see you around Ev, hope all is well.
  9. I need a book

Unfortunately most of the books out there about the powerwashing business are books about starting a small business and NOT cleaning techniques. Some of them even look like get rich quick type of books. I have looked all over the place for books on cleaning techniques and definitions of things in the powerwashing business myself, no luck. The best tool out there for now I would have to say is the bbs. There are over 40,000 post here so I'm sure you can find alot of what your looking for by using the search function, and if you dont, just ask because theres alot of people here that know alot of valuable information that might help you out. Take someone up on the offer of helping them out in trade for free training, nothing beats hands on training.
  10. Strange Phenomenon

All i see is a red X ...my mind must really be playing tricks on me.
  11. Good Work Barry, nice color. I hope the lake doesnt fill to much or else you'll have a floating dock.
  12. I see that the pwna is changing web page layouts and and will be getting rid of the old web page and bbs. Does that include all the threads on the bbs, or will they be brought over to the new webpage and bbs? I like the way they are thinking about taking it.
  13. My new work yard..on the side of my house

John, can I come over and play? :D
  14. What a truck paint job!!!

Now that is funny!!!!! Actually its a GREAT marketing idea, if the site of that does not get your attention, nothing will. As far as driving the truck, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

  16. Now that the season is past the half way point, how has it been going for you? Better then planned? Do you see anything you can improve on?
  17. What if.....

What if you never got into the Power Washing / Restoration business.. what would you like to do for a living? (if money was not a matter of course) :D
  18. Cleaning gutters with vac.

I think that with a 2.5 inch hose you would be up there twice as long as you would if you just scooped it out. I clean them by hand and then flush them with a water hose. One thing that helps me speed up the process of cleaning gutters is putting a scooper on an extension pole and using that when possible, it limits my ladder movements. Just becareful when using long poles around power lines going to the house.
  19. PWNA Members Invited To Bid

99 stores, 500 pwna members A step in the right direction.
  20. Support this bb.

Why give him your time of day? The world is full of idiots that like to hear themselves talk, just dont listen. Everyone knows that Beth & Rod have done more for this industry then most and would do anything they could to help someone in need.
  21. Mobile Homes

There are 2 mobile home parks here in the local area that I plan to door hang and paper with flyers this spring for power washing. I am hoping to get a good response and maybe pick up some add-on jobs (driveways, sidewalks, etc) while I'm cleaning the mobile homes. I have driven around the 2 neighborhoods and it looks like alot of home owners could use my service there. Is there anyone that has alot of experience with mobile home parks who might be able to offer some advice, tips or tricks? Thanks. Mike hoosiermike@hotmail.com
  22. A variety of answers, I guess I'll have to experiment. Thanks for the replies.
  23. Hurricane Katrina

The best thing anyone and everyone can do is to make a cash donation to the american red cross. This cuts down on shipping cost of supplies and helps boost the economy of the affected area because they buy the suppiles down there. Don, I think your idea is a very noble thing of you to do.
  24. Would you like to join a fantasy football league? I created one on ESPN that is free of charge to play. I have 15 openings for new teams to join and I was hoping to have a league just for us here at The Grime Scene. The draft will be done automatically by an espn computer on August 29th at 1:30 pm. All you will need to do is decide which players you will play each week. It's simple and fun. I will post periodic updates here on The Grime Scene so others will know how we are doing and give us a little something to brag about, or tease each other over. The name of the league I created is "master blasters" and my team name is "indiana dirt busters" .... if you join let me know who you are either here, or by email. Thanks. NEW LINK to league home page: http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leagueoffice?leagueId=211307
  25. Hurricane Katrina

They say it could still be a tropical storm by the time it gets as far inland as Indiana. Big storm, wonder why it took people so long to evacuate N.O.? Wish people would take things more serious and not wait til the last minute. When there is a mandatory evacuation that means your own your own if you stay, no 911. Hope everyone gets out of that soup bowl and into a safer area.
