  1. Not only pictures, I've seen websites copied word per word from another website.
  2. Show me your equipment...

or so they can see what they need to do it themselves.....
  3. Part Timers

This question is for the part timers out there. I am not trying to pry in anyones business, but for those who care to respond I was wondering why do you choose to work part time? Do you have another job for pay? benifits? stability? Are you just working part time until the chance comes for you to go full time? Do you just enjoy doing this part time and have no plans to go full time anytime soon? Or any other various reason? I would have to say my reason for doing this part time now is a combination of benifits and the fact that I am trying to do slow, and correctly, not wanting to jump in over my head and make huge mistakes. My goal is to one day do this full time if the business is there, how about you?
  4. Part Timers

Good thread going here, thanks to those of you that are chiming in. Jon & Ken make very good points about this not being a "get rich quick" business, if theres one thing I've learned in my time is that it takes hard work, dedication, and money to be sucessful in this line of work. It does not happen over night either. There are those out there, myself included that have full time jobs for reasons like insurance and various other reasons. I would like nothing more then to escape from the dreaded "working for someone else" kinda life and I will one day! :) It's nice to see theres a mix here of those that want to work full time and nothing more, those who work part time striving to become full time, and those that are full time and not looking back. I encourage those that were part time and became full time to jump in here and tell the rest of us about the pros and cons of doing so. I also would like to hear from more part timers and why you do this part time.
  5. Company Shirts

Do you wear a logo / company shirt? For those of you that have and wear company shirts, do you go with printed t-shirts or embroidered polo shirts? Where do you get them? What are your prices? Do you stick with one color set or do you have multiple different colored shirts? Also if you have a photo of what you wear it would be nice to see if you can post them as well.
  6. It's Beth's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Beth! Is it cake and ice cream in the hot tub? :bday:
  7. Rogue contractors

Nothing like that here yet, just the guys who are trying to sell you meat from the back of thier pickup truck.
  8. Gutter garden

They are starts for maple trees, I dont think I would want to keep them growing for long. It's a common problem up here if people dont clean there gutters out after the spring storms. It does resemble an herb garden though :)
  9. Bd20

Russ, lets here about it :)
  10. Bd20

    Nice job barry, whats bd20?
  11. Hard core Downspouts

I guess thats the reason why I dillute mine with water, it gives me a little more flexability when cleaning so I dont have to be in such a rush. It may take a little more brushing once in a while, but to me its worth it.
  12. I'm sure this question has been asked, but I cant find it anywhere. Who has worked with realtors in the past and what are the pros and cons when working with a realtor.
  13. Working with Realtors

Henry is right, it would make a realtor look bad to get "kick backs" like a commision and I dont think they are allowed to do that. The realtor I was talking to saw a job I did and liked the results. What do they get in return, a better looking house to sell plus they get commission from the price of the house, a cleaner house can be sold for more money. "kick backs" do work with your customers though, if they refer a neighbor to you, you can give them money off thier next service call. :)

  15. Hard core Downspouts

Purple Power, mixed 50/50 with water. Lightly brush it on, rinse it off. Do not let it dwell as it can eat the paint if left on to long.
  16. Working with Realtors

I wouldnt think the realtor would care what the price was, after all the homeowner is paying for it, not the realtor. Whats $250 compared to the $1,000 to $2,000 in value added to a clean home. But then again, I dont know, hence the reason why I asked. It just seems to me it would be a nice source of job flow without much time or money wasted in advertising.
  17. Sales Tax

No, it's a service your selling, not a product.
  18. Jennifer welcome to the Grime Scene! There are a few others out there that do interior building cleaning and I'm sure they will jump in here and help you out. There is currently not a area for this kind of work in the FAQ area, but the try doing a little searching in the forums for alot of information. Sorry I cant be of any more help as I dont do interiors, but I'm sure your questions will be answered.
  19. Question for start

Colin, I really think you need to do some more homework. This is not something you want to jump right into blindly as you will only set yourself up for failure. You said you worked for antoehr company doing powerwashing, but yet you only want to clean driveways? If I only did driveways I would be in the red for sure.
  20. Picks of decent pump-up sprayer

I dont think your sprayer is the problem, most pump up sprayers work just fine. If you want more then a mist spray, change your tip. There are a large variety of tips for pump up sprayers just like the tips for your powerwasher. While your at it, look at getting a longer wand to go with your new tips as well.
  21. Anatomy of a Lurker

To Funny! I remember the old bbs days as well before Al Gore "invented" the internet we would hook up at 1200-2400 bps and play games like Red Dragon and Ultima. Oh the days of the text adaventure games were fun indeed, now we are having video phone calls over broadband and more..... but I'l still waiting to see the flying cars everyone talked about back then. Claude, welcome to the Board! Jump in anytime!
  22. Sunday Marketing.

Similar he is, but Lewis he is not. ;)
  23. Sunday Marketing.

I'll be seeing a few games at Great American ballpark this summer myself.
  24. Hello All

Mark, welcome to the Grime Scene! :beerchug: This community is jam packed full of information and it can be found very easily. Also the members here are very helpful when after reading all you can you still have questions about it. Are you part time? full time? What do you wash? Again, welcome to the board.
  25. Car or Van - Poll

I would say its slit 50 / 50.. alot of guys use trucks, alot of guys use vans. There are advantages and disadvantages for both. Personally I prefer a truck because I like to have 4 wheel drive for the winter time.
