  1. Leaking Area

Have you called delco to see if they have had this problem before?
  2. Here, let me add a photo to this as well. The left side was cleaned with thompsons, the right side was untouched.
  3. where is pwna??

Let me say after re reading my thread, I want to make it clear I am not against the pwna, at this time its just not for me. Some things they do I agree with, some things I dont. I applaud their effort in providing education for companies and I would like to see them expand on that as well and not get so envolved in politics and be open with membership.
  4. where is pwna??

Mathew, if wal-mart kicked you out for screaming like you claimed, they would have not kicked everyone else out who wasent screaming. Anyways, your comparing a major dept store to an internet bbs, apples to oranges. Glad to hear you had success using the pwna as a marketing tool. I would like to think that a newspaper would help anyone who wants to do charity work and help others out no matter who they were, but kudos to you for helping out those in need. The problem I have is when I continue to read things like .... The customer can choose between a pwna local chapter member or an unprofesional, unlicensed, unexperienced company.... Tell that to the THOUSANDS of companys that are not pwna members ..... The pwna works for you and your company and thats great, I prefer to spend 195.00 in ad's and not on a logo that doesnt mean much in my neck of the woods. By the way, you have a nice web page, did you make it yourself or have help?
  5. where is pwna??

.....well comments like "Sometimes it's better to get information from another source than the guy that's trying to sell you a job for 50% more than the estimate you got yesterday from a guy with no insurance or experience." really wont help it get done any quicker. What I get from that is that if one is not a member of the local chapter he will be made out to look like a guy who doesnt care, doesnt have insurance and doesnt have any experience.........
  6. A World meeting for all Powerwashers

John T had a good idea and its to bad it was deleted. He hasent been back to post since then and his insight is missed. It's to bad that sometimes things happen the way they do.
  7. where is pwna??

Henry, Would you care to explain to us how the pwna is going to "raise the bar"? I guess I am missing something here.
  8. Information?

I thought cascade was for washing dishes? :D
  9. rain-x works good for keeping your glasses clear. apply a thin layer like you would on your windshield.
  10. Heres a few questions for you gutter junkies... On average how often does your clients have the gutters cleaned in your area? Do you offer some kind of service deal for those that want them cleaned out often? Do you offer any kind of repair service, if so what do you do? Do you have a few photos you might want to share showing how some of your gutter cleaners have worked for you when it comes to results? Thanks
  11. My mind is in the Gutter

a little off topic from the original question here but... I was cleaning some gutters this week. These gutters have probably not been cleaned out in 20 years it seemed. When I went to clean the exterior of them, I was able to get most of the blackness off but I could still see a light shadow that wouldnt come off. Who knows how long its been building up on there. I was curious if anyone else out there had gutters they could not get 100% spotless? I was using PP. I've never had a problem with it in the past. The gutters are white.

  13. Time Windows

When scheduling your jobs, do you use time windows when telling customers when you will be there? 1 hour window? 2 hours? 3 hours? 4 hours? Is your target time somewhere in the middle of your window? Do you normally run early, ontime or late?
  14. Time Windows

JD, thats great if your able to do that, but unforseen problems do tend to pop up from time to time. Anyone else care to chime in with how you handle this?
  15. Scary

what scares me is that there are people out there that spend thousands of dollars on junk from ebay.
  16. I was wondering for those of you that clean gutters, do you also install gutter guards / covers? Or is this taking money away from gutter cleaning? If you do, what type do you useo and why? How do you go about getting affiliated or certified to install them? Thanks, Mike
  17. Hours a Week

  18. Welcome Aboard! Nice to meet you. Beth & Rod have put alot of work into this bbs and I feel the same way you do about it.
  19. Company Shirts

Barry they look a little pricey? How's the quality?
  20. Big improvement from the first cleaning to the second cleaning. I've used wolmans myself before and got a good result. I guess the secret is low pressure and proper chemicals will do it right everytime.
  21. Is there a home brew that can be sprayed safely on the gutter exteriors and interiors to clean them if your not power washing.
  22. Is there a way to save a favorite thread

You can create a folder in your favorites list for internet explorer, and then save the web address in the address bar of each thread you would like to save in your favorites folder. You could even create a Grime Scene folder, and then have sub folders off that like for wood, flat work, house cleaning, etc etc.. making it your own personal library. As the thread continues you should be able to see the added messages by clicking on the link for that thread. For example, the link for this thread is http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?p=29747#post29747 , if I saved that I could come back to this thread anytime without having to search for it. Something else that might help, would be when your saving the address, name it something like "Driveway Cleaning" or "Deck Cleaning" and not save it with the address for the name. Its easy to do if you know how to save favorites for internet explorer. But you do bring up a good idea, and an online favorites could be useful as well. Great idea Lou! :D
  23. Georgia Tornados

Hope Scott and everyone else down in South GA. faired the storms and tornados down thier ok. I saw some video on the news and it looked like some of the towns down thier got it pretty good. Living in the midwest, I have a respect for the power of tornados and have seen thier destruction first hand.
  24. This is from the Federal Trade Commission Web site: (www.ftc.gov) The conflicting approaches to telemarketing calls to cell phones taken by the FTC and the FCC illustrate the whimsical results of the competing telemarketing rules. The FCC's telephone solicitation rule prohibits the use of autodialers to make calls to cellular telephones,7 effectively prohibiting telemarketing calls to cellular telephones. Despite this prohibition, in a press release dated December 10,2004, the FTC indicated that the national do not call registry accepts both home phone numbers and cell phone numbers, prompting many individuals to register their cell phones even though, from a practical standpoint, telemarketing companies are prohibited from placing telemarketing calls to cell phones under the FCC rule. The uploading of these additional cell phone numbers to telemarketers' databases takes significant resources and is unnecessary because telemarketers already scrub their telephone lists for cell phone numbers in order to comply with the FCC's regulations. In practice, the FTC is requiring telemarketers to scrub their call lists against those numbers twice, once as part of the do not call lists and again when their lists are scrubbed for cell phone numbers under the FCC rule. This process increases compliance costs with no practical benefit. This duplicative process is not in the best interests of consumers, who ultimate bear unnecessary increases in marketing costs.
