  1. Tank Depot wants $179.55 for shipping those metal bands that weigh 25 lbs. I can't find an online source for tank bands that has reasonably priced shipping. I don't mind paying for shipping, but $180.00 to ship a 25 lb item? That's just not reasonable to me. I'll probably just make my own tank bands out of conduit and save a couple of hundred bucks or more.

But I do appreciate your input Jim. Thanks!

    Ya I know,

There shipping is pretty high I agree. I just wanted to give you an Idea of where to look. Lets face it, Wal mart is not the place for these.

  2. You can buy them at any plastic tank manufacture or dealer that sells them. They go for about $50 if I am remembering correctly.

Because of the chemicals and the fact that our rigs are in the sun day in and day out, we do not use the fabric Nylon straps, though many contractors do use them and have good results. For us, we have experienced that these nylon straps from Home Depot will eventually decay and you may not notice it until they break. Since our water tanks are over 350 gallons, we tend to think of the possibilities that would present if a mishap was to happen while driving down the freeway or a sudden stop.

    Go to this website:

    http://www.tank-depot.com/productdetails.aspx?part=N-63546

you will find your straps there.

  3. I'm reading all I can on this and from what I've found so far is if it has an EPA number on it you have to use it as the label states. All three brands I use have an EPA label and the instructions are all about pool cleaning. DO you guys buy chlorine with no EPA number on it? I know every professional power washer uses this to clean with so there has to be something I'm missing. Thanks in advance. Eric

Call Robert Hinderliter or the PWNA..they will help you with the correct Environmental information for the East Coast.

  4. We use to paint the trailers back when i started my business, only to find out that they rust or the paint will not hold up to the detergent that we use. The degreaser's we use attacks petroleum base paints, thus softens the paint. Its like using paint remover.

So since the 2000's, we powder coat our trailers to 8 to 14 mil thick.

Now some who love a petroleum base paint may disagree with me on this, but the worse powder coat treatment is better then the best paint job, both in chemical resistance and for longevity. The problem is that if it chips, it is hard to match.

  5. Thank you Al and Jim. Some need to remember that Mods are just like anyone else here and we are all in the same industry. Our opinion differs from one another, and there is nothing wrong with that. At times I think it's appropriate that moderators moderate other moderators. Especially when an opinion differs from another contractor. But what isn't right is when a moderator forces their beliefs on another (even if they are correct) just because they are a Moderator. I respect each opinion and thought given by anyone, I just don't have to agree with it. Also just because someone is a moderator does not mean you have to feel like you're stepping on eggshells. I am looking forward to this experience as Moderator, but for the time being I am just sitting back watching.

    Well said.

  6. Kudos kris....my thoughts on being a mod are when u don't take sides and you just moderate the rules for the bbs.

Mods should set a example for people to follow, however be firm on the rules.

As a new mod ....you have been upgraded and should not be part of any future problems but part of a solution.

The reason I am suggesting this is that you being new to becoming a moderater .....have a chance to start fresh with a new beginning and a fresh slate as a Mod.

How you handle yourself will reflect the respect you will receive.

Don't take what I say personally ......It applies to me as well.

    Well said AL !

Some say I would have difficulties being a moderator, though I am a Super Mod on another BBS. I find it hard to be objective at times, to stay on neutral ground as one would say, especially when someone is giving incorrect information about discharge and POTW permits. Something that I have been doing before most every thought about washing.

By the way, I need to talk with you for our quarterly talks. You always keep me smiling AL. I need to make sure my cell phone is fully charged this time...we always end up talking for hours...LOL.

Also, the Parking Garage Event maybe going out east this time around. Hopefully we can meet at that event. Dodge and Ford looks like they will be going to the event as well.

  7. Sorry one last thought .......I would post the link and thread here of post suggesting the owner of this board and forum were bad forum and bad people ....

I posted this seperately for 2 reasons

    1. I like the owner of the other board and some of the.people there

    2. My skin crawls when anyone attacks a forum board or/especially a distributor.

    2.

I can agree with that !

  8. John, I have had the pleasure of watching you grow your business over the years and meeting you in person several times. Always enjoyed your enthusaism and gusto you have had for this industry. I am thankful for all YOU have done and applaude your desire to do as you see right. You never struck me as one to be harmful; only eager to be part of something you seemed to love. While you have often been in the middle of much debate, I truely believe your intentions have always been honorable. I know you and your beautiful wife deserve some quality time together, so getting off these boards should allow that. I know you won't be completely gone because this stuff is in your blood. Thank you for All of your efforts over the years. I am sure it wll be hard to replace your dedication that is needed to moderate these boards!

    Great Post.

John has always been a straight forward guy. Some may not like that, but it is what it is.

  9. It's late. I just got done doing a few things such as Name tags for this event. I'm pretty excited about it that I may just stay up all night cause I have to be up in 4 hrs anyway:) and the flight is pretty long so I can catnap.

I love these Industry events. There exhausting planning them out but when they work... It's worth it!!

The planning for this event is now over but we did hit many tough obstacles along the way. Some was just bad luck and others.. Well we'll just leave that one alone because it's over with and became a non factor anyway thru perseverance by this Vegas Committee to will its way along and refusing to fail.

I wish some of you here were able to come and try some of these machines with me. It's like a grown up mans and in some cases the Ladies Disney. Also the socials once again I wish you guys could be there with me as well so we can just talk shop and have some fun. Maybe next time:)

If I remember I'll take some pics and post them on TGS..

Ok now it's lights out. 4 hr sleep is enough to head on a plane and sit and dream.

    .

    You got 4 hours?

    I have 3 and I need to drive 12 hrs....LOL

    See ya there John !!!

  10. I just turn mine over to the in house mechanic. I love having a mechanic on staff.

I know what you mean Scott, I am glad you finally did that. I remember how you was concerned about the expenses of that.

As you know, we have had a mechanic onsite when we clean our Garages for the last 7+ years or more.

He has saved us thousands of dollars in lost hours on the Job site. I remember 25 years ago, when I had equipment fail and then had to go home only to drive an hour or so to the shop to have someone fix it the next day, that is, if the shop was not too busy and they could rush us into their schedule.

I am happy for you that you got that done! Way to go Scott !!!

  11. Intro:

I have recently joined the PWNA and I have accepted a position to be part of its Environmental Committee. For those that know me (810F250 forums id), my initial industry focus is/was pressure cleaning equipment and systems, the last two years focusing on existing wash water requirements within my immediate areas of Maryland, along with industry wash water disposal/capture and pre-treatment technologies . Unfortunately I am unable to say I know the entire history of the PWNA or every detailed aspect of these bmp's, however I am offering my input as power wash service provider, PWNA member; I am open to learning, my hope is to make a valuable contribution.

    BMP comments:(Reviewing post 1 to 3 )

Cosmetic cleaning defined on page 2 of the CITY OF FORT WORTH ENVIRONMENT CODE CHAPTER 12.5 ARTICLE III - STORMWATER PROTECTION document http://water.epa.gov/polwaste/nps/upload/nps-ordinanceuments-fort-worth-sw.pdf

Cosmetic cleaning means cleaning done for cosmetic purposes. It does

not include industrial cleaning, cleaning associated with manufacturing

activities, hazardous or toxic waste cleaning, or any cleaning otherwise

regulated under federal, state, or local laws.

From Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 122.2 Definitions: Process wastewater means any water which, during manufacturing or processing, comes into direct contact with or results from the production or use of any raw material, intermediate product, finished product, byproduct, or waste product.

Some contractors have an issue with the term "Cosmetic Cleaning" and believe the term "Cosmetic Cleaning" does not holistically (or adequately) reflect our power washing/pressure cleaning service offering, lets discuss this, what could be recommended.

The link listed in the pics Robert H " http://www.epa.gov/nps/ordinance/documents/forthworthsw.pdf " does not work , however there is this related page Model Ordinances to Prevent and Control Nonpoint Source Pollution | Polluted Runoff | US EPA (updated 10/17/2012)

I found this older pictured PWNA/***** BMP document on the web here BMP-Cosmetic-Cleaning dated 8/3/2011; reading the bottom of page 3 to the top of page 4 , it identifies filtering through a 20 mesh (which is approximately 841 microns, according to US Forestry mesh to micron web page : the current PWNA document under review mentions 200 mesh which is 74 microns. I also remember some of the older videos with the vacuum sludge filtering system, mentioning 200 micron for pre-treatment discharge to sanitary. With all this info out there , which is the requirement?

Congratulations on your NEW PWNA Position. You got to be one of the smartest guys in the field.

    Good Choice !!!

    GO PWNA !!!!!!

  12. At the last count, I have seen 9 members who are Invisible to all of us who contribute to the Grime Scene. They stay that way until they write a post, then become only visible for that post that they wrote at that time.

If they are reading a post or looking at a subject, no one is able to see what questions or research they are doing.

Question, How do I or anyone else on the BBS become Invisible?

  13. Amc was burned to the Ground a few years back. They are the ones who made the turbo twisters. We have a few of these. They are great. My guys just do not like how heavy they are. We had over 1,400 dollars in options added to them making ours come in at a cost of over $4,000 dollars each. Ours also spin faster then the norm as well.

We are building a motorized unit to be able to ride on. This unit will be over 7 ft wide. We will be able to push this Mammoth of a surface cleaner and expect an increase in performance by 58% with only 25% of the man power needed to run the unit...meaning less labor costs.

Currently, Thanks to our Turbo Twisters, we can hit 280,000 sq ft in 7.5 hours. ( Two high performance washers/ two turbo twisters)

Because of our custom filtration units, custom washers, our custom surface cleaners, we are able to hit these numbers to clean a Parking Garage with Full Reclaim and Filtration while keeping our quality of service very high.

We will bring one , if not more of our custom units to the Parking Garage Cleaning Event held in Las Vegas in the Month of March.

    to sign in: ParkingGarageCleaningEvent@Gmail.com

  14. We did try some that do burn the skin a few years back. Most on the BBS said this was the chemical to use back then. But those chemicals seemed not to have any better results or even less cleaning results then what we are currently using.

I guess we are fortunate since we currently do not have any chemicals that will burn our skin, lungs or eyes and is 100% Bio-Degradable.

  15. Powerwashing wise where having our best year but it doesn't mean I think the economy is doing better. I'm hustling around different states chasing work because I fear the worst.

I found this article and it's kind of what I think as well. It's revolving around us printing money with nothing to back it up. The Feds are at it again where their going to print at will 40 Billion dollars a month just to keep our system stable. From what I read that's a huge mistake. It makes our dollar become ever so "Worthless" on an international scale.

Our bubble is going to burst wide open unless we change our ways of doing worldwide business. Printing money is not the answer---- it's really garbage when you think about it.

Us Powerwashers go out and earn our money while our Gov't just prints money like it's nothing. What's wrong with that picture????

Economist Caution: Prepare For ‘Massive Wealth Destruction’ | SmarterLifestyles

I with you John. This was our best year ever. Again we are going to leave money on the table. I cannot build these custom washers fast enough to handle the excess load. Our filtrations units range from 50+ down to 20+ GPM's.

Thye Housing market in our area is also going up. As you know John, we buy homes for our retirement. Now a home that was selling for about 220k in a nice area with 1600 sq ft . Now 250,000.

  16. Even though all the BODS of the PWNA are a bunch of great professional guys, second to none in my book. They have done their jobs with integrity and honesty. It would be hard to see any of them to go.

However, if a spot were to open, I think your professionalism John would be good for any Org you join.

You are an honest and straight forward man. You see an issue and stand your ground for what is right. I think you would make a fine addition to any org, and would fit right in with the PWNA.

  17. We have a face book account !

Sure we have over 100+ friends and colleagues on there, but thats not were we get our business from. In fact, we do not advertise at all. No phone book, flyers, post cards...nothing. Only some business cards, about 500 ordered every 5-6 years.

Here one for the books......If you were to call 411, our business name would not NOT be listed, yet all of my competitors knows of us very well and as of last year, The crystal Cleaning Company LLC does about 70-80% of all of the permitted Parking Garage Deep Cleaning that requires full reclaim and filtration in most, if not all of the counties in the San Francisco Bay Area.

There are other ways to advertise without costing a dime out of your pocket...without getting a face book account or even going on line.

Don't get me wrong, for the retail market and some commercial, yes, I would agree, face book is a good tool. This is something I maybe discussing at the " Event" in Las Vegas John.

    See ya there.
