  1. Stay in touch, get to know your LOCAL authorities, and the ones that interpret and enforce. You will find that all they need is education, the right education, and they will listen to you. Help them help you.

As I said in Post 12...

Check (Communicate) with your local EPA Agencies for the correct answers. Usually if it is too strict, it usually does not get enforced and gets over turned in a short amount of time.

Make sure you meet with them face to face. Show that you want to work with them to be compliant. They will work with you.

Try to pull the wool over their eyes......well lets just say... They're not stupid and they will remember.

  2. I'll politely ask you not to make insinuation about getting others excited.

My track record has proven time and time again and again truth!!!

The reality is that they one have no guidance from anyone or the wrong guidance.

Without disrespect to anyone I do not know particulars. This was also months ago, if you look at the original post on Facebook it's old.

The group I worked with are clear to wash without reclaim by there pollution dept.

Keep in mind this it a state agency. They actually have jurisdiction on private property.

Since your the Pwna representative maybe you could call get the numbers and names like I have gotten and get the scoop. Things can change on interpretation over night. My calls where made months ago, maybe you can deliver good news.

I will ask you respectfully discrediting each other does nothing. Serves no purpose and makes everyone look un professional.

Myself and the United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners will remain focused to help all contractors distributors and customers to find answers to resolve problems. Not to argue or incite others as you have so boldly suggested.

If you check history many attempts prior to this one has requested even simple house washing be reclaimed. The United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners along with local support from other organization prevented reclaim on homes in 2010 in north carolina.

Counties and other cities have been successful too, there's nothing new here. All these to my knowledge have changed stance.

We need to work together with each other to keep the industry profitable. Regardless of our differences!

The issue is they eventually realize the relationship is not sustainable. The problem with this often damage is done. We need a program to prevent instead of react. This is when we as leaders will be affective to our industry. Together we should all be working towards our common goals.

You last sentence says it all!!

Check with your local EPA Agencies for the correct answers. DO NOT TAKE ONE CITY OR COUNTY AND THINK IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. Usually if it is too strict, it usually does not get enforced and gets over turned in a short amount of time.

  3. Before anyone gets all excited, First I have not heard of anything about Wood Decks or reclaim from power washing a wood deck. I have heard about spills and having the contractor be responsible for cleaning that mess up the same way as if a painter dumped 5 gallons of oil base paint.

This thread sounds like a scare tactic to get everyone all work up. Nothing new.

Check with your local EPA Agencies for the correct answers. Do not take anyones word on any BBS and especially DO NOT TAKE ONE CITY OR COUNTY AND THINK IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. Usually if it is too strict, it usually does not get enforced and gets over turned in a short amount of time.

BMP's need to be reasonable and rational to stay on the books.

  4. I have found the best gauge is one used on farm equipment for hydraulic systems. But, none last very long. I have thought about used a hydraulic quick connector, but never got around to it.

Jim, how do you get water to 300 °F? I think that would make cleaning hood easier and faster.

I think I already told you before in a previous thead or lots of threads/ posts.

I do not know what you really want to know other than what has already been written time and time again in my posts.

If you are at a loss or can't find it in the posts that I have written, call me. I will be happy to help you.

  5. Well after watching that video, someone is a fan of gay disco music, & what does it have to do with the question that was asked regarding a pressure gauge, & where to mount it?

    Micky?

I was showing the gauge about 1:40 into the video. This gauge is by the reels and I believe is the best secure area to mount a gauge.

As far as the jab at the music comment, its not disco, but I am showing my age with the late 80's stuff I agree.

I don't know, I just like the 70's and 80's music along with the Beatles. Nothing wrong with that... right?

    But on a professional note:

Since most of the clientèl that I do business with graduated from their Pack 10 Schools in the 70's and 80's, they seem to relate to those times as well. Executive's I do business with still talk to their classmates from their Universities. These executives have classmates who are executives in other business as well. I remember being in this executives office when he called his friend about our videos. I heard him on speaker phone saying.. "John, You remember that song? We use to play that all night in our dorms. "

The last thing you want to play is some music that your clients cannot relate to or they get offended by.

If that means they like Disco, then I will play Disco and learn to like it. Its that simple.

My clientèl likes the 70's and 80's and Country. I get compliments all the time from them watching our video's reminding them of good times in relations to our videos...and thats who counts.... the ones who put money in my pocket.

If we have that Event that Ron mentioned in March, Marketing to your client will be one subject that will be covered.

  6. We use temperature and pressure test kits for temporary readout.

However, for a permanent solution we use them at the hose reels. Reason for this is because the wand can get heavy after 3+ hours of extreme use. Having at the hose reel is quick and simple. Also lets use know how hot the hose is before we roll it. This prevents possible hose reel expansion issues.

Here is our temp gauge at the reel.

  7. I had dry clean delivery vans with vinyl installed in 1998 that still looked fine with no peeling and limited fading in 2006.

On the other hand our flatbed has vinyl less than 3 yrs old that is both peeling and badly faded.

There must be a wide variation of vinyl quality.

Thanks Tony and Scott for the information.

  8. Why waste time your time... Let a vinyl guy do it quick and easy and you go out and make the bucks. Putting our 6th truck in service on Monday and my sign guy knocks them out in 24 hours full color for $900.00. It's by far the best ROI you'll probably ever have so put some thought into it.

    Greg

    Greg,

I think your truck looks great ! I know I have said this before in this thread before all of this hoopla, but I really do mean that. It looks professional and a poses an invite to ask you more...

I also have a question about it if I may..... does the lettering come off after a while?

Also what do you think about a wrap around vs Vinyl Lettering?

The reason why I ask is this....

We are planning on building a trailer similar to a car hauler, except the trailer will carry specialized equipment with possible a very small office/ sleeping area and parts/ repair station. Since the trailer will be over 22 ft long, we was thinking of our first vinyl lettering signage like what you did or going with a full wrap around. I think the wrap around will cost more and may not last as long.

What are your thoughts on this Greg?

  9. I'm following you because you are going down as a fraud.

Now that I no longer have to be physically present to run my business I have the free time to take this on full time.

You are going to regret having ever messed with this industry when the mere mention of your name to any authority has them running the other way for fear of litigation.

I have documented every ridiculous and uneducated EPA claim you have ever made on the boards in it's full misspelled glory and will be taking it around for the amusement and study of all the real people behind the fake and anonymous phantom enforcers you frequently quote. I will find if there is prosecutable fraudulent statements and if so, I will file a complaint myself personally with great satisfaction.

    Pray for my success Jim.

This is a THREAT and should be dealt with !

  10. About as much as you bringing up your PRIVATE invitation only filtration event in a thread about vinyl lettering I guess. Glad we have helped you make a name for yourself, shows the power us three have. Thanks for the compliments.

    Sure. Not a problem.

Oh, and Doug, when you do talk to Sgt Walsh to say thank you for attending your UAMxx event, which I am sure you did...Say Thanks...just thanks.

  11. And what does your posts here have to do with the Gregs thread about lettering Scott, Tony & Doug? Nothing

Always seems that its you three that follow me around. Don't get me wrong, it because of you three that the EPA takes notice of me on a national level. If you did not write as much as you do, my rankings would not be as high as they are.... and the agencies that represent enforcement for discharge would not be asking me to give lectures. I believe it is solely because of Scott and Tony's endless responses resulting in myself getting noticed on the Federal and some States platform. For that I say thank you.

But again, with you three bringing up 1/2 truths about the past over & over again, what does this have to do with Gregs thread on Vinyl Lettering ? I am sure that everyone here is tried of it. You three sound like a broken record. Be a man, respect Gregs thread and Grow up !

    Greg

    Very Professional.

    It really stands out.

    I like it.

    Well done !

    Greg

    WOW !!!

    That really looks good !!!

  14. We put signage on so people know what we are doing. We got a 50 pc gas station chain from the owner driving past the lift while we were working and calling from his cell phone

Exited about the event Jim. I will introduce you to the policy makers here in Las Vegas.

We started interacting with them on a social level last year in preparation for any moves you might make this way.

Our casino HVAC customers are particularly interested in your event since they clean their own garages and enjoy a good , low restriction, working relationship ($$) with the authorities.

Now that we know the event is in March, they can help me prepare the policymakers for your uninvited out of state invasion into our place of business.

I am sure they are anxious for you and Robert to show them how much more equipment they need to buy to be compliant with the law. Lol.

Everyone can always count on you to create DRAMA Tony **************.

  15. Train, train, train, and train again. We don't have videos. We do have constant training happening. Everyone has a trainer on a ride along every other week. It helps maintain quality, and it helps discover efficiencies that others use to make their jobs easier, and share them with all of the other employees.

I agree. Since we do Parking Garage Decks, we can have up to 26 workers on just 1 site. We have meetings with the site managers the day before a jobsite. A walk thru is a must.

This will also be explained in the up coming event on Filtration Units / Parking Garage Cleaning tactics held in Las Vegas next year. Seating is VERY limited.

  16. My trucks are lettered. I didn't letter them in the past, but I have contracts that require lettering.

In all honesty, I am surprised at how many calls that we receive off the signage.

I agee... Signage has it's place in the advertising world. We also thought the same, but we found that word of mouth is rock solid. This is what gets us the jobs without question or haggling on price.

I remember back in 1989 when we advertised. We was bombarded with calls. We was asked to bid on this and that. Some for insurance others was just price shopping and the rest was competitors trying to find out what we charge for our services. I wasted so much time, fuel and resources on that. I new there had to be a better way to get business.

This is one of the things we will talk about in the Filtration Event / Parking Garage Deck event that will be held in Las Vegas for the March line up. Real hands on stuff. Small and Large filtration units for different kinds of filtration jobs will be there for your review from the people who use them everyday. I will bring my filtration unit and show it for the first time. Hot and Mighty will bring their unit as represented by Jim Cooney. Robert Hinderliter and Mike Hinderliter will be there showing their filtration units that is just coming out on the market. Hydro Tek will be represented as well along with a few others. If you want to know about filtration, this is the place to be folks.

  17. We thought about putting Vinyl lettering along with our Logo on the new trucks we just ordered. Then we realized that our marketing and also being that we cater to the Industrial Client, that we just do not need to install Vinyl lettering at this time. None of the trucks we bought in the 23 years of cleaning Parking Garage Decks did we ever have any signage on our rigs or trucks. Not saying that is bad or good, just that we never did.

These new 3500 Dodge Cummins 4x4 Crew and single cabs are just entering production as of yesterday. These trucks, along with our Dodge 2011 trucks will almost double our fleet of trucks.

Just like our current trucks, We won't be leasing these trucks ( leasing from Dodge results in only a 50 dollar a month savings over buying the trucks)... instead we will purchase these Dodges and will be using Dodges 0% for 36 months. The Longhorn will be for myself. The rest of the fleet of trucks will have the Larime's options. Hopefully next year, we will purchase a few more 3500 Cummins 4X4's.

  18. On Long runs of 200 ft or more, we use the 1/2 inch hose. We run 5.9 GPM through them. A 1/2 inch hose will save wear on your pumps as well. You will not have nearly as much loss of pressure as well. You will find that a good quality 1/2 inch hose will last up to 14 months or better. When we used a 3/8 R2 hose, they lasted for 2-3 months and sometimes even less. Our current hoses use a synthetic rubber. This makes the hose a lot stiffer, but the chemicals we use that go after petroleum product do not attack synthetic rubber, thus our 1/2 inch hose will last longer. These hoses aren’t for everybody and they certainly aren’t cheap. They can range over 2 to 9 dollars a foot or more. Our hoses are trade secrets and we do not give the brand name out on these BBS. However, you can find similar hoses on the net, just lower specs for the $2 dollar a ft. range.

We have 1 pump that has lasted 18 years running at 13 hour day loads without a rebuild. We have another that lasted 8 years, but only because our sub over rev the pump to 4,000 rpms for 12 hours via our hydraulic systems.

We contribute this 18 years to the hoses we use and the open end surface cleaners and maintenance of the pump. In 1989, we used 3/8 hose. It seems like our pumps was being rebuilt every year or two. Since we changed over to the 1/2 inch hose, those frequent rebuilds are a thing of the past. I doubt many can say that who have a close end wand runing off then on, then off then on, again and again for hours while having 200 ft of 3/8 hose.

Make your machine work less and it will return the favor.

When our new unit comes online in a few months, we will be considering a 5/8 inch R2 Line hose to power our 7+ foot motorized surface cleaner.

  19. We have for years went with Direct Drive. No problems. Our 3/8 -1/2 inch thick cold rolled steel plate has held up just fine.

Our recent build though maybe a belt drive with a little twist to it... meaning not you standard Twin V Belt set up.

We may incorporate a serpentine belt drive to power 3 or 4 units with 1 belt. I have yet to see any Pressure Washer unit with this design. We believe this will be the best over all belt system for a MDU (Multi Device Unit).

Here is a photo of our Direct Drive unit. The red American Made Hydraulic motors are 28+Hp piston Direct Drive. Because of Hydraulic Drive system, our Kubota Engine runs only at 1,900 RPM's. The Engine is not running at FULL throttle as most pressure washers do, but less then 2/3 speed and right at the " Sweet Spot" for the engine. I would recommend this system to anyone who needs to do extreme washing.

  20. I know a guy with a Hot N' Mighty that is looking to get out of it. It's one of the chopper trailers and I know it has no hours on it. The only hitch...... (he may deliver) is that it's in Western Canada. If interested contact me and I'll put you in touch.

Hot N' Mighty are Great Washers. I met George. GREAT GUY and extremely knowlegable. Jim Cooney bought Hot N' Mighty Reclaim and filtration rig... He LUVs it. Making him tons of cash. George Podell, Micheal Hinderliter, Robert Hinderliter all leaders in our industry. All respected as such.
