  1. 12% Bleach

We are always glad to help you with any questions, but if you want to speed up your research time you can use the search button to find some of your answers, I use it all the time. Lance, I live an hour south of Michigan and I run into mold and mildew on houses and roofs all the time. It gets pretty hot and humid here in the spring and summer months. I love those mornings when I walk outside and I can already feel the stickiness in the air............not. Jarrod, do you use a lot of pressure when cleaning mold and mildew without chlorine? I use 12% in my house wash and the green just melts off, rinse and go baby.
  2. Leaf stain in slabs - how to shift?

Hey Jeff or others, I have a driveway to do this spring that has tannin stains and irrigation rust stains, do you think I would have to wash it twice, once with chlorine for the tannin stains and then again with oxalic? If I remember right these two chems are dangerous when mixed. Also Jeff did I understand you right in an earlier post, you PW the sidewalk with surface cleaner and then apply the oxalic? Didn't mean to steal your post Richard.
  3. Are You Ready for Some Football!?!?!

I thought football season was over? No Colts, no football!
  4. First Solo Housewash

I knew I would start something when I posted gutter shock is overated! I also knew Mike would be the first to chime in...lol Sometimes I like to stir the pot a little. I take back my comment on it being overated, that was dumb to say seeing I've never used it. I do know that just getting started part-time last year I couldn't afford it compared to purple power at the local Walmart. Mike has told me before that if I wanted better results I had to pay a higher price for the good stuff. I will probably try it out this year and when I have questions about it I know Mike will be my go to guy.
  5. First Solo Housewash

Patrick, I use a 4 foot wand with the x-jet and have no problem with two story houses. If there is a high dormer or a basement walkout in back that makes it almost 3 stories I'll climb up on an 8' step ladder and x-jet will reach, no prob. You do have to move at a steady pace while soaping up a house with the x-jet. I start on one end of the house, I make sure my chem hose is tied off to the bucket and that I have plenty of untangled chem hose laid out and that nothing is in my way and once I here those chems shoot out the x-jet I start moving. Sometimes I go so fast that I'll come back the opposite way even faster and hit it all again. I've never missed a spot like someone else posted, you can plainly see the soap on the house and you would no if you missed a spot. On a good sized house I might use 2 five gallon buckets of house wash, and 2/3 of a bucket is water anyway so I'm really not using that much chemical. I never tried to downstream so I won't bash it. Some gutters never come completely clean. In my opinion Gutter Zap is overated. It's also too expensive when you are first starting out. Just my .02 cents.
  6. Love everything about PWing and owning my own biz. Hate being a wage slave at the full time job. Can't wait to tell my boss to shove it up his.... I know that really wasn't the question, I guess the least liked service I provide would be cleaning gutter interiors, especially when their full of wet leaves and gunk.
  7. Superbowl bound

I just got back from the Colts vs Steelers game and I'm a little jacked up on coffee because I had to drive home. Anyway the atmosphere at the game was electric, and I'm saying the Colts are going all the way baby!!!!!!
  8. Pick for NFL playoff weekend of 14-15

How many fingers am I holding up, can you say concussion?
  9. Pick for NFL playoff weekend of 14-15

This is Lance and his post of revenge, I know it made him feel better after his Jags fell to the Colts and then got stomped by........wait a minute, did they even make the playoffs I don't remember now? LOL all in fun Lance, good luck next season. GO BEARS if not GO BRONCOS, don't really care.
  10. Pick for NFL playoff weekend of 14-15

Actually they were 14-2 sorry but that's the facts. Your right it shouldn't have been that close, Steelers should consider themselves lucky. If Vanderjagt hadn't choked you'd be singing a different tune right now. Good game none the less.
  11. Superbowl bound

I agree with your opinion, the Colts were rusty and Peyton has never played good under the pressure of the blitz, funny to see Steelers almost blow it, they won't make it to the big dance either. I can't wait to see Cowher spitting all over the field when they do lose. How about those Pats. It's hard to believe they walked all over the Jags like they did only to get dominated by the Broncos.
  12. Pick for NFL playoff weekend of 14-15

Sorry no remorse here being a Colts fan all I gotta say is..... C YA!!!!!!!!!!! :lgwave: :lgwave: :lgwave: :lgwave: :lgwave:
  13. Jeff, I would get a 15 to 20 gal drum, mount it on a hand cart and set it up with a 12v battery and a shurflo and go with it.
  14. That's beautiful Roger, at what strength did you mix the HD80?
  15. Pick for NFL playoff weekend of 14-15

Colts!!!!! That's the only one I care about and I'll be there to cheer them on.
  16. Getting leads

Very inspiring Lance and very similiar to where I'm at. I'm going to spend about 3-5 hundred this spring on about 1000 postcards. Last year (first year in biz) I spent maybe 200 bucks on some door hangers and some homemade flyers to which I targeted about 3 hundred people, I didn't get much response I got a few estimates and a couple jobs out of it. I'm not pinching pennies for dimes this year, I'm going big time!!
  17. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3117 Hey Mike read thru this thread it's good and also has some good close ups of a homemade pvc wand. I'm using a marine battery for the sprayer I'm going to build, I figure if it can run my 42 pound thrust trolling motor for six hours on the lake it should do the job, besides I already have two of them. Walmart sells them for about fifty dollars depending on the size.
  18. Tax time

If your doing your accounting on the cash basis, meaning you only record a transaction when CASH comes in or goes out, then you would claim it in '06.
  19. Superbowl bound

Bring on those Steelers. We beat them in a Monday night game that I was at which started this whole thread. The Bengals lost some key players during that game and just lost momentum, the Steelers aren't that tough. I can't stand that Polamaluuualuaau and his long hair...booo GO COLTS
  20. Machine Covers

Setting up a trailer is in the near future for me. The last few jobs I did the pickup was pretty full. I was wondering why so many of you go with an open trailer as opposed to a closed trailer. Wouldn't it be worth a few extra bucks to have your equipment covered and locked up? I do like the grill cover idea though if I did go with an open trailer.
  21. Its a NEW YEAR

Happy New Year Jeff and others.
  22. Show off your business card!

To all newbies.....use the 10 foot rule.....hand a card to anyone within 10 foot of you.
  23. egg on brick

I had a client call me whose house I washed back in Oct. It's a big 1 story brick ranch. He called to tell me his house got egged with about a dozen eggs and wants to know if I could get it off. I don't know what type of brick it is but I was able to put quite a bit of pressure to it without damage the first time I washed it. What chem do you recommend I use to get the egg off? Regular house wash? Also I imagine hot water would help but I only have cold right now. The egg has been there a few weeks in freezing temps. If I have to just use pressure and a scrub brush I will, this client has been my biggest customer to date so I want to keep him happy. It's suppose to be in the 50's here on Monday so please give me some advise on what chem to use, thank you.
  24. egg on brick

    thanks Jeff
  25. I showed up to do my very first deck and got suckered into helping rip out a few bushes around the deck, raking leaves and repairing the steps before I could get started. It cut into my profit alittle because it took a couple hours but what was I gonna say, it was my first job. I'm more careful now to explain to people what needs to be done before I show up, and even if it is for extra money I try not to deviate from PWing.
