Sorry for the hijack. It just looked like a good thread to ask this question. I had a painter, whom I know and trust, ask me to help him prep some tool and die machines that he is going to paint. We are suppose to use an in house steamcleaner. I know nothing about steamcleaning. How different is it from pressure washing? Do I still use chems? Is it better than pressure washing or is it a step down? Will I still end up with waste water? You can see I have a lot of questions so any advise is appreciated, thanks and sorry again for the hijack.

Shane, this might be a dumb question, but how did you prevent your stripper from going into the water? What water? ;)

Let me urge new companies like myself, you WILL NOT want to miss this possibly historic event! If your like me and want to take your business to the next level, then you better be here!
If all goes well over the next 72 hours, this will be one of the best round table events this year!
Stay tuned...
Contrary to what you've said on the phone Don, you are a good seller. You got my attention, you got me interested, you gave me information, and you told me what action to take....I'M SOLD! Read your quote with one of those loud annoying car dealership commercial voices and it sounds even better. LOL

Don
Your getting my juices flowing stop teasing me. You know I'm in.

I took as many trade classes in high school as I could....building trades, auto mech, etc. First job was in the trailer factories, we build a lot of trailers and double wides here in the north. I was a swingman and did a little bit of everything. Did that for several years then worked for a siding and gutter company and always did work on the side like a weekend roof job or something like that. Then I started with a utility construction company and mostly buried phone cable. After about a year I became the foreman and did that for 9 years before quitting last spring to PW full time. Right now I'm relying on my carpentry/remodeling skills to keep me busy this winter, can't wait to start washing again.

Thanks for the PM Shane. I did catch the camera as it panned to the left about 100yards and I saw a herd of something, not sure what they were. Maybe anger customers..........no wait that was the bad dream I had.

That wasn't a rain storm, every so often the villiage people come to the watering hole to take a ****.

I keep a pistol grip bottle with 6% full strength Clorox. After I have cleaned a concrete area, go back with sprayer and spray stains. By the time I get back to rinse they are usually completely gone.
I usually downstream the whole drive with 12% and then clean, it also helps prevent stripping up the drive with the SC.
-
Everytime I check it, it's still just a watering hole. I never see anything, someone should PM me when there is a zebra or something......lol
-
I downstream 12% and the stains disappear before I hit it with the SC. I use oxalic only for irrigation rust and it's sprayed on after surface cleaning and then rinsed.

You can get a brand new one at Lowes for $1000. Have you considered a belt driven unit? They last much longer and don't have to be gravity feed when drawing from a tank. Use the search fuction and get all the facts before buying. GL

Doug
Welcome back, sorry to hear about your health problems I hope you get it all taken care of.

You can run a sc that big, I've run a 30" on 4gpm but I had to walk extremely slow or I would get zebra stripes on the crete. I now own a 19" hover and I can clean concrete faster with it than with a bigger one. You have to match the sc to your size machine to get the most efficiency out of it. Also, that size nozzle sounds right.

Thank you Jeff and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Looks good Roger, what stain did you use and how long did it take?

I've had problems on old gutters in warm and cold weather. The gutters aren't streaked but are greyish looking instead of white. No results at full strength. Being they are suppose to be white I asumed the paint was oxidized.

Rinse it well after each use and spray with silicone spray, it doesn't evaporate like WD40. But anything is better than nothing.

Pretty fun, I got 60,000. Do they have one of Pat Sajak? LOL

Use the info right here at TGS and put together your own article. It will probably turn out better than any article you could find anyway.

Maybe I should start selling pens:)
It's the 1.8 60psi on demand pump. I'll call them this morning and thanks for the link.

That you can't just sit and wait for the phone to ring, you have to go find work and really hone your advertising/marketing skills and techniques. My first year I was PT and I sent out 50 homemade flyers and hung some door hangers and I was scared I might get too busy to keep up on the weekends....lol Of course the phone never rang and it was back to the drawing board.

Where can I buy shurflo parts? I had one crap out on me so I took it apart and found the switch on the front to be bad, right where the two terminals plug in. If I bypass it the pump works fine. I know shurflo's are cheap and I planned on buying a new one anyway but I like tearing stuff apart to see how it works and if I can replace this switch then why not, ya know. Here's a pic of it.

To start you need a chem tank (I use 125 gallon). A pump like doc said can be a matter of opinion and also depends on how much roof cleaning you plan on doing and your budget. I do a fair amount of roofs and I use a 12v shurflo pump. With this pump I use a marine battery and 200' of 3/8 chem hose. Also you need a wand for applying the love. This is probably the cheapest and most economical roof setup. Gas pumps really pump the love but are expensive. Do some research on the board to educate yourself more about it.
