I have been thinking about doing this for a long time! As I see it it would work just fine I just havent had the time to do it! I know a keyless entry model works well on just changing over from chem to chem as well as the boiler on/off. ie 3 button remote (2 doors 1 trunk) work with the door buttons for the chems and the trunk button for the boiler. the remote starter I have on my vehicle has the same 3 button features and you just push the door buttons together to start and shut off the car! I dont see why it wouldn't work. However, like said before it might add to your trouble shooting if having a problem starting the PW. And as said before you get what you pay for so dont go to kmart or something cheap, and if possible have someone who really knows the workings of it all to install it! Just my .02 Good luck and let us know how it works out for you!

Is it cool to cool, or should I stay hot?
rocco replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
We always cool down our hoses. Run it till the fittings near the gun are cool! Its just always been standard practice for us. -
Hey all I am doing a home show in March (my first) and just curious as to what everyone thinks is the best kinds of things I can do or take that might help in sales! I of course have thought of these: Plenty of business cards making sure my business name is clearly seen samples of wood in the restoration process (old/washed/brightened/stained) samples of different shades of stain pics of decks I have already done brochure explaining services thanks or the help.

Hey I understand the thought of the heartland is not as appealing as Orlando but Kansas City has a lot to offer! They have a Nascar track, 2 amusment parks that are side by side: Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun, (so that would take care of kids) it also offers some good food and some Casinos if anyone is up for that. Its not too far from the lake of the Ozarks which is just beautiful country. Trust me I grew up in Colorado and moved here in 1992 and that just what I thought. My personal thought is that for a few days how could you get bored no matter where it is if its planned right! Not trying to start anything just defending my little corner of the world HA HA. Im game for where ever it is. Heck you know what lets just make it a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas or somewhere! Im done now:zipit:

I had a couple ask me if I could find a stain that would hold up to Baquacil pool treatment. My understanding is that everywhere the pool water drips it tends to remove the stain. It goes as far as the drips from them sitting in the chair swing have created small areas of unstained wood. Has anyone worked around this product? any help would be appreciated as I will be bidding on it on the 15th.

Hey all thoght I would update you all on the home show I did. I had some problems with my camera and was not able to get any pics of it! I used a laptop with MS powerpoint to show off slides as well as list my services. It was displayed on a 27 inch T.V. right out in front so it grabbed attention! Then I had about 500 business cards and 100 brochures and went thru about half of those. I had 2 panels of fencing setup as my back drop and one panel was old and grayed and the other was nice and finished with wood tux. I had some wood samples of TWP on the table and I got some people stopping by simply due to the fact that i had them cause they had used TWP and really liked its results. I was always in the booth unless I was eating which i had a convenient cubby hole behind my fence I could hang out in. that way if there was any questions my family who was helping me couldnt answer they could grab me! I did take off to the seminar once and just had a hard time being away from the booth so I went back in a few minutes. My neighbors were all really cool as one was a chimney sweep company and we are going to be getting together soon and talk about some networking we can do for eachother. You know maybe a discounted price if you get both services from us kinda thing. All in all I didnt get my expected number of sign ups but got more than enough to cover the cost of the home show and now I will work on word of mouth and Ill advertise in the neighborhood of all these people. I have mailers that I will send out to all the neighbors houses as well as the "Im not ready to do anything now" people that came by the booth. So was it worth the time and money? Yes, and it being my first ever home show i expect to do much better in the next one! Thanks all for the advice.

SealMaxx - Max something?
rocco replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Interesting read! I just did a home show as some may know and I noticed both of these companies there. Seal Maxx had a nice booth showing their process on video and at the least was impressive in how it was applid. however i had a few people come to me complaining about them as they didnt believe it would last for one and some asked what happens when they wanted to change the color or even sell the house and so on. Needless to say I will be giving these people estimates this week. A guy that sells and installs trex decking was there and did a seminar that was interesting and he had a huge booth (8 times the size of mine)and yet i still had some people come to me and either complain about their composite deck fading and now they are left with a deck that is not the color they wanted and some saying that they are stuck with a failed product that has just turned white and the manufacturer and the installer has refused to help them! I asked this guy from trex about it and he just said that it needed to be replaced as it was a bad batch! I totally agree with the common sense comment Rfitz. -
I am with Bob Gates on Kansas City! Its in the heartland with lots to do and the weather is not that bad! Of course I am basically in Omaha, Nebraska so its rather comperable to me. Next maybe Vegas as I have been wanting to go there and then Chicago has an appeal to it! Beth could you throw a poll on here with a list of cities and have everyone vote? I'd be willing to help out a bit if needed.

You think this is for real? I stumbled on it doing a google search on TWP. http://www.fiveminutefence.com/

Well I started originally managing a company for another guy. They offered fleet washing and Deck restoration. Within the 3 years I was there they went to washing buildings and commercial work and dumped the deck restoration. After leaving I tried my hand at driving a truck and hated it so I came back to work at the Deaf School overnight where I have had plenty of time to contemplate my own business and do planning! Been in business for 3 years and last year made just under $6k. Now for 2005 my sales are around $4k already and I am only getting busier! So soon it will be bye bye to that overnight job here. My wife cant wait! As far as that other comapany I still do some jobs for them.

Connecting 2 powerwashers together
rocco replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Ive seen it and honestly it turned out best just to get a larger pump! The setup was the same that Rod had spoke of with the difference being that it was two 4gpm pumps ran by the same diesel engine on a belt drive. This was a setup that was done by a pressure washing company that I worked for and due to a confidentiality agreement that i signed I cant go into to many details but to say it caused a lot of stress on the engine and pumps! Not to say if you have two engines and two pumps it will be better or worse. I would just prefer to invest in a higher gpm pump if its financially feasable. If you get it to work good then congrats! -
This just cracked me up! Go ahead type my name in "dan" and see my ideal job! Its pretty dang funny! idealjob.xls

rocco replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I removed the seats out of my daughters bicycle trailer and threw a HD rig in it and hooked it up to my huffy 10 speed. Boy is that one sweet rig! -

Which Cleaners/strippers/neutralizers are you going to use in 2005?
rocco replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
from what little I have used of extremesolutions I have been happy with so I am gonna try to stick mostly with them. I will also keep with the products I get from my local distributers. Been mostly using TWP stain but want to try out Ready seal and try to be able to use more Wood Tux as I liked it the few times I've used it. But I have loved the HD 80. I am gonna have to order more real soon! It sucks that I missed the sale but I cant buy it with my Good looks! ha -
Do you like the new look and recent changes?
rocco replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Im kinda partial to the classic look! however my Wife likes the new look! I just like that its a bit simpler with the buttons all in one place at the top! ie new post, arcade, etc and the new post counter as I like to see how many new posts there are. -
Well yeah business is slow for me too! I got lucky and landed a fleet washing account thats a guaranteed $1300 a month so that helps! It hasnt allowed me to quit my full time job yet but hopefully decks will take up alot of slack and then maybe another fleet job or 2! Luckily my full time job is overnight at a Deaf school so I can hang out at the GrimeScene all night getting addicted to some of the games! Carlos, well have to get together and chat! seems like we have deafness in common. I am not deaf but parents are as well as my brother and nephew! I have known of a lot of successful deaf people that went against the odds and did great! Never let anyone, including yourself, say that you are not capable of doing something!

Marine vs Regular battery for ShurFlo
rocco replied to Christopher's question in Residential Pressure Washing
when I first started using my sureflo i used and old battery from the garage cause I didnt know exactly how much I would use it. By the time I went to get a new batt I had made enough money from using the old batt I had in the garage to warrant buying a new one. Of course I am still part time and I still use a regular car batt but might change as I get more jobs! I think what I am saying is that for everyone its different so just go with something cheap or free and base your decision on how much you utilize it! I have all kinds of stuff I have been told to try out or just wanted to and then I use it once and go back to my old way so it collects dust in the garage and was just a waste of money! Just my 2cents . -
