  1. cool comeback

This was went to me from a friend over seas in the airforce. Love This Comeback! >From a woman in Colorado: One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcomeing people were to him, and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands, and thank them for being willing to serve, and fight, for not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them also. But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the US flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, "Yes, I always wear it and I probably always will." The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi. A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: "Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MYcountry to avoid." Everyone within hearing distance cheered! Pass it on.... Patriotism is not a Fad message. It's what we stand for.
  2. Reed, Hey this is an awesome sheet. I have made up one for myself but its no comparison to this! So I am trying to understand the pricing you have on it. For the most part its close to the same price I charge any way so its an easy conversion for me! One part I dont understand is on the sealing price you use a formula of =((H5/90)*(19))+(H5*0.45) I understand this to be (sqf divided by 90)times 19) plus (sqf times $0.45). What is the division 90 and multiply of 19 for? Once again thanks for posting it.
  3. celeste, Yeah there is a fee for the home show. it ranges between $350 to $1000 depending on the size of booth and location. There is also a fee to have electricity provided, $50! I plan to grab my Brothers laptops and run them with XP as Ryan said! He has a couple of nice large screen laptops that should work well. Ill try to get pics of the booth posted after the show!
  4. Hey all thanks for the advice. thought I would let you know I sent Doc a message and he called me just now. He gave me some excelent ideas. ie: No eating or chewing gum, no conversing with the neighbors (he said get to know them but dont just stand there chatting with them while you have potential customers walking by), Say hi to everyone that walks by, Have professional brochures, have a professional appearance (polo or nice button up shirt with name on it), dont be the only one in the booth (have help from employees or family that know what you are doing) have your name above your booth and very clear with the service that you are providing next to it! The biggest thing I thought he said is to have an appointment book handy and set appointments for everyone who takes a brochure. If they cant set an appointment then get all their info so you can call them that night. He really stressed before and after pics! The booth that I will have is directly across from the concession stand and he said thats an excelent place and for me to get some napkins or condiments so people will stop by and grab them and check me out at the same time! He said get certifications from Wolmans and Olympic as they are free. Education is a huge benefit so the more the better! Flat out he had a lot of advice, and very eager to help me out! Thanks again Doc!
  5. Who distributes gutter shock and gutterzap? Would this chemical work on a warehouse building that is painted aluminum? I have a post under flatwork and buildings please check out the pics and let me know. Anyone please!
  6. I had a call about doing a deck and they said they have some stain leftover from their cabin that they stained and would like it to be put on their deck but the deck is in bad shape and needs to be washed. So they asked me to do it all and I have never used benjamin moore. I only have used fnp and wollmans and now woodtux. Any one have any suggestions for this stain or is it pretty comparable to the others? I will be brushing/rolling it on and plan to use some hd-80 to get what is left of the old stain off. Its not much so I wont be needing alot. The deck is about 218 sf with 5 steps and railing around 3 sides which come to about 42 ft in length. I have figured 3 gallons should cover it am i correct? I am normally a truck washer but am trying to get more into the deck refinishing market. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! Dan
  7. The stain is semi transparent. the color is natural cedar. I will be doing the deck on monday.
  8. I have a RK31 pressure washer from delco of fort worth and my boiler coil cracked! I called them to see about replacing it and they said $580.00! is this the going rate? it's a lay down style boiler. I was told to call a place called Farleys that is in oklahoma. anyone heard of these guys? Thanks in advance for the input. Hope all is well where you are. Got over a foot of snow here in Iowa!
  9. Hey all, well thanks to all of you as I will be back up and running come this weekend. Thanks beth for trying to help hope you had a good time in Dallas.
  10. Ha here I am at my full time job which is overnights and I am talking about today and tomorrow in my last post meaning today = Sunday and tomorrow = Monday. I realized that by the time I was able to actually post the reply it was 5 something monday morning not sunday night when I actually started writing it! goin back and forth between screens got me off kiltered a bit!
  11. Wow, I am floored by the response of this you are all very helpfull! JDF, Id love to give h and h a call to price compare if you have that number. Beyoung, yeah I had my states messed up as I talked to the guy who told me about farleys today and he said it was in Ark not OK. Beth, can you help me? do you carry coils at your store or if possible lead me to someone who does? Russ, yeah I have that machine but I dont have part numbers outside of delco's number and thats my problem right now with measuring it all up and finding out what will replace it from another company. Ron, yes I have heard nothing but good reviews for farleys except its gonna take a few weeks for me to get one from them but I am gonna give them a call tomorrow and make sure thats correct. I dont know if they have a rush delivery or anything that wont take all my life saving to pay for! Matt, There are 2 cracks one about a 1/2 inch and the other that is about 2 inches but it goes around a bend that is not really accessible for a welder. been trying that this weekend! Is that what brian does, welds them up? I saw you were having a round table meeting, Id love to come but is it in Iowa or Illinois? I am not familiar with moline. ia. and it looks like it says "IL" in your post. Again thanks to you all for the replies and i will let you know how it works out!
  12. Well I got rid of all my "sky hooks" when I got out of roofing. As for wired in remotes and wired hose I was thinking of using trailer wire conections for a little bit but yeah the heat could cause some problems. it would be nice though as I could set it up to have the wire plugs in the same area as the QD in my hose just in case I wanted more hose (or less). And then as for my cars remote starter I have the $150 one and it has options to start the car open the lock on the drivers side or both sides (if you push the button twice) and open the trunk! so that would make for starting the unit, turning heat and chems on and off. I got it at a local stereo place that installed it too. So I will have to check and see how hard it would be to get one and wire it into the unit. I have seen a remote device for sale that is for pressurewashers but the remote looks something like that of an rc car remote. Way too big and too bulky to carry around.
  13. getting it right the first time

I will be sure to look that book up the next tim I am at the book store or library. I am currently reading a book written by John Eldridge called "Wild at Heart". Talk about having my attention! Any way, Thanks again for the info on the book. You are quite the mind reader as I have been trying to open up a new way of thinking for myself! If you ever find your self in the Omaha/ Council Bluffs area youv'e got a tour guide at the least!
  14. getting it right the first time

Hey Ron, I think you would make the book a great one! Whatever you do you will have to include your post that you put in the thread "ratios" about a pinch, dab, smidgen, etc. That is a priceless work of "art".( to quote beth about writing being art!) Best of luck to all you do and thank you for all of your shared wisdom! I havent asked many questions of you and thats because you freely giveit on here all the time so my questions are answered by what you told others! You and Beth both have a customer for your books right here! God bless, Dan "Rocco" Borgaila
