  1. Almost didn't make it - whew!

Sorry Dan but I dont splash by business numbers around the internet. I think you have a pretty good sense about what kind of volume my company produces. Your happy working 3 days a month and *****ing on the internet about no work the other 28 day. Good for you.

You dont get it Dan. This is about the total presentation of your company. I dont care if you want to do $3,800 per year or $3.8 mil per year. If your presenting yourself to a high end market and trying to get compensated accordingly you must have the total package. And that includes signs not writted on a scrap sheet of plywood painted on with a 2 inch brush. What about your presentation? Do you shave every day? Wear a collared shirt? Wear whites ...no jeans? Work boots or ratty sneakers? Ear rings? Tatoo's on your face or head? Hair neat? Showered with soap and deodorant?

Why bother with the lettering. You could just roll a fresh coat of black on the side and get some stencils for a buck and paint new logo's every week or two. It would match your lawn sign in your other thread.

That sign falls in the same category as the van. Very nice!:D

Congratulations! You must of sent out 44 mailers this year. You should grow next year and mail 52 and land a extra job. Trust me, the offer will not be there.

Nice spike...... ...hope so. Could be interesting.

I cant get away from this one. That job in Salem, NH is probably online for the spring ....wasnt in the budget last year. If I call you for your services I would seriously have to ask you to park at K-Mart a mile away. If my client thought I had to rely on another company that came in a 15 year old mini van with tinted windows I would be out the door. Image is everything in this business.

I hope so or else a return to the basement or the "war room" might be in order to re-analize data. Because data buys paint jobs.

Didn't you state on another board the your painting sales for 2009 was $3,800.00....for the year? Isnt the name of your company Just Plain Painting? I would assume that "Painting" is your main source of income ....and the other services would be small percentages. Antiquated? Really?

Changing the lettering message is a interesting idea. I hate to sound elitest but I'm not sure if the message on the side of the van or the message "of" the van will produce the biggest impact with a customer. When presenting a estimate that reflects higher than average hourly rates I would imagine it to be hard to sell when pulling up in a 15 year old black mini van with flame like pin striping. I think vehicles and lettering are very important and just a piece of the pie when branding and marketing. First impressions are priceless and when pulling up to a million dollar home in a clean new looking vehicle with clean lettering the HO can and will feel a sense of security and professionalism before you ring the bell. If you pull up in a 15 year old black van with tinted windows I can imagine having a hard time selling. Sorry Dan ......I just think that when you examine all phases of business this winter this may be a big one to tackle ....along with the name if your not painting any more.

Nice house Dan .... Did you do any work there or did your truck break down in front of it?
