  1. i started out with a $2000 pressure washer from northern and starved for a couple years 10k-50k building up the business,we did $280k in 06 with myself and 1 assistant.

    then the building boom bursted and we were 100 percent leveraged in new construction.

    the drought for the last 2 years has hurt business as well.

    profits have not been the same since 2007 but things are picking up around here


  2. i currently manufacture a fully CNC Machined Acid injector that we feel has many advantages to the traditional long range injectors on the market.

    it is slightly more expensive than the e spec version but priced competitive to the x-jet.

    i would welcome any comparison testing to the x-jet and feedback.

    on a 7gpm test skid the simpson injector would draw 5 gallons in 2 minutes 15 seconds.

    our injector emptied the same 5 gallons in 1 minute 55 seconds.

    the distance of spray covered 25-35 feet.

    construction is 316 stainless for corrosion resistance and is completely modular for replacement of individual components should that ever be neccessary.

    this injector was built for a long lifespan in comparison to the welded simpson injectors that we used to have the welds disintegrate within 6 months.


  3. 2 years ago i had to start a new business as pretty much everything collapsed here starting with the water restrictions and then the builder default,it is starting to pick up around here so we are gearing up to get back into the industry.

    the bright side is i became a manufacture and have a steady business with sales in the US and 15 different countries.

    recently i was able to revisit and update a product that we used to make for ourselves while working in the powerwashing business and will be offering them for retail in the next week or so.

    supposedly we are exiting the reccession but will be a while before we forget about it,and you never know when the next one is around the corner.


  4. Yes i have to say i have been very fortunate,i work a lot of hours and i have taken back up dragracing motorcycles again which has consumed any free time that ive had..

    it isnt easy making it in this industry but i do all i can all day every day and luckily were still here,i would like to take the opportunity thank everyone on this board and especially you Ron,without all the help ive had on these forums i wouldnt be were im at today.


  5. thanks,i have found several trucks so far one is not too far from here which is a plus,its a little more money than the others but its lowest mileage and closet to home.

    i found one that looked like a good option but cant find anyone to answer the phone or call me back left 2 messages,anyone here of a Quality Care Powerwashing in Bealton VA.?


  6. i agree with Jon,if your working its a supply and demand thing(coincidently i have been dabbling in economics the last 6 months and i can tell you this the consumer price index is at an all time high,fuel is $2.30 a gallon and interest rates are going up rapidly,if there ever a time that a customer can relate to a price increase it is now.

    everyone gets the customer that wants the lower price,thats inevitable,the trick is to send them down the road and cater to the customer that will pay your price.

    i did 2 jobs today that the customer payed more for our services than a competitors quote this is the ex.

    i get a call from an advertisment and the customer asked me what the estimate would be for a job that required a min service charge,i told her the charge would be $100-$150 she informed me the other company min charge was $65.......I quickly informed her that obviously that might be her best route to take,but that was up to her........she still scheduled the job and we completed it for $100---- 20 minutes.....

    today we also had scheduled a house wash and a driveway cleaning for a customer we had done 2 years ago,our price was $450 ,,,the customer exclaimed that it costed him 300 before,from US! by rationalizing that i didnt feel i needed to explain the cost of living changes from year to year or that the consumer price index(a poll that tracks what consumers pay for items on a monthly basis)was at an all time high,and that gas was $2.30 gallon. to justify our pricing,he oked the job and we completed it same day.

    i think it is more important to pay attention to your cost of doing business and not what your competitors charge,these are 2 examples of customers who were shopping on price,or price perception who paid more for the job....the next time a customer says someone else will do it for less give them the chance.


  7. this is a question i would like to know myself,i am very new to delegating and have had a few complications with it this year.

    i think it takes only 2 months to properly train and get the person used to your system,however once you turn them loose you will find out if there going to make it or not.

    if they dont make it it is a big loss of company resources,then you have to do it all over again turnover is expensive,and training is time consuming.


  8. this is on track for what were seeing as well 18k per one man rig,october was 23k with a helper for 2 weeks,working out of a 2 man rig.

    i think this information proves ther is more money to be made with 2 one man rigs than 1- 2 man rig. this is our aproach for next year.

    we bill 100 hourly as well with an average of 75 were seeing at the end of the week,we have recently raised our pricing 20%.

    i appreciate everyones post its always nice to see where were at and where our goals should be.

  9. reed, we have all been scapegoats for one thing or another at one some pojnt in time,even though it is nerve racking to be involved in an ordeal that someone or another thinks your at fault,once you investigate and determine its not your responsibility it is your duty to educate the homeowner as to whats the fault and possibly how to correct. after that i wouldnt carry the stress and guilt to follow.
