Hydro Tek Pro Line Pressure Washer?
Shawn F. replied to Shawn F.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Russ, I will be giving you a call most likely sometime next week. I actually found out that my local pressure washer place sells not only Landa but Hydro Tek as well so they are getting me a price quote on Monday or Tuesday. I appreciate your help and time! -
Hydro Tek Pro Line Pressure Washer?
Shawn F. replied to Shawn F.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Well I just talked to the guy and he sold it already... My luck of course. Either way, how much is it to buy this same unit brand new? I am looking online but nobody lists ANY prices on any site and they are all saying to call for price. I'd like to get some opinions and info on what you guys paid for yours because it seems that everytime I call a company on car parts, tools, etc and it's a "Call For Price" ad, they give me the run around and never give me a straight up price out the door or shipped to my house. Am I looking at spending $8000 for this same unit brand new or more or less? Thanks again for any info! -
Hydro Tek Pro Line Pressure Washer?
Shawn F. replied to Shawn F.'s topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks again. As for the water tank, I have a 150 gallon tank already and will stick with that for now because every house I've done so far and every car detail I've done in the past 4 or 5 years, the customer never minds if I use their water. I usually ask them to use their water before starting the job and I've never had one person say no yet. I do want to have a 250 gallon tank or so to have laying around for backup though just in case. -

http://www.pressuretek.com/hilowvano.html Is this the nozzle you guys are talking about that will shoot up to 35 feet to soap and then rinse by just turning it? If so then I have GOT to try it out compared to the long lance wand I am using... -
engine revving/pressure fluctuating

Any news on this engine revving problem? Try the Sea Foam yet? I'm curious as to what the problem is... -
engine revving/pressure fluctuating
Shawn F. replied to cwarrior's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I wouldn't buy what they said. Try some B12 or Sea Foam. Run a LITTLE bit through the gas tank. It may take 2 tanks of fuel to be ran through to tell a difference. If that doesn't work I would go through the carb or at least pull the bowl off the bottom of it and make sure it's not gummed up. Sometimes all you need to do is drain the bowl, flush it out and run fresh gas through it again. Also for future reference, throw a cheap inline shut off switch at the fuel line before the carb. When you are ready to shut down and will not be using the power washer for a few days, turn the switch to off and let the carb run out of fuel and the engine will die. Now the carb will be dry and no worries of it gumming up. -

All the new crappy fuel these days RUIN carburetors. I have to deal with these kinds of problems on all of my cars (all I drive are old hot rods) and motorcycles. When the fuel sits in the bowl of the carb it destroys o rings and gums up even within 2 weeks of sitting. Start by checking your spark plug to read how it's running. Then try pulling the bowl off the carb and clean it out and use an air nozzle to blow through the jets. See if that clears up your problem. -
Where/how are you guys filling your water tanks
Shawn F. replied to CentraFlo's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Ok great to know thanks! I think to start out I will try NOT to run a tank around unless the homeowner absolutely doesn't want me using their water. I know some people are picky about it and they think that if they are being charged to have their house washed then they should not even have to supply the water but that is rare and those customers will be ones I will not deal with or try not to at least. I do not see it being a problem though. -

Old thread I know but I have a question that somewhat has to do with this topic... As for those houses you guys are allowed to use their water on, what is the highest GPM pressure washer that can be used on a hose bib for city water and also if they are on a well? I am assuming the typical well would be pushing around 5 GPM out of a hose or is that way out of range? Pretty much I am wondering if I can use the hose outlets on customers homes instead of my tanks but do it without burning up my pressure washer which is pushing 4.5 GPM and soon to have a 5-6 GPM unit. Most customers do not mind using their hose outlet instead of me having to bring a 200 gallon water tank and yes I know some do not thing it's professional to use the customers water but that's a completely different topic/thread. Thanks for any info! -
I thought there was a thread like this here already but for some reason I cannot find it. Anyways what I am trying to figure out is how to stay organized and help myself remember things such as past jobs, scheduling, keeping up with receipts and invoices, taxes, etc. Besides programs like Turbo Tax and Quick Books, what are some other programs that you guys use to keep track of jobs (past and present), tax info such as how you were paid and how to keep track of what you were paid, etc. I was going to use a program like excel (I am on a mac so it's not called excel) and make a bunch of columns with the customers name, number, address, last time I worked at their home, work performed, price, and when to follow back up with them. After analyzing this more it just seemed too much to keep up with on excel spreadsheets. Do you guys use a laptop with programs or do it by hand on paper or what about phone apps? I have the new Evo 4 HTC phone and wouldn't mind a handy business app to help with thinks like invoices and receipts I can mail the customer or even use a laptop with a portable printer to hand print receipts and invoices for those who do not use email (older communities). I'd greatly appreciate any information or help here to help me and others reading this stay more organized and remember past jobs. If there is a thread like this already then I apologize.

Thanks a lot for the info guys! I am going to look into ACT and Quickbooks Online and see if just those two programs will work for what I need. I was going to buy ACT about 2 years ago and never did since my plans changed but I think it's time I buy it or do the trial version first and go from there.
-
Rod, I forgot about ACT. That is another program I need to check out and learn. Can you use it on a smart phone do you know?

Thanks a lot Nate, I will give them a call and see what I can get. That would be great to be able to do this. I was looking at the X-Jet but just not sure I need it, I like the down streaming and dont mind having to tote around the bucket if I have to. If the nozzles are even easier than the 12 foot lance then I will be VERY happy.
-
I will give the Simple Cherry a try. I hear a lot of good things about it but have not used it myself. Nate, as far as those nozzles, where are these at on the site? Do they attach to my gun and shoot that high or what? Thanks again guys!
-
Thanks a lot for the info guys! Seems like I will be buying some of the F13 you are mentioning. NateF, what do you mean by a nozzle holder? Sorry if that's a dumb question, not sure what it is... As for cleaning the roof, is there such thing as any equipment out there that will reach from the ground to the roof to rinse? Thanks again!

Switching From X-Jet M5 To Downstreaming
Shawn F. replied to rick77's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Rick, I hope you do not mind me asking but what kind of pressure washer are you using (brand)? Will the setup you are speaking of work with a 3 GPM 3200 psi pressure washing unit? Thanks for any info or pictures if you have them. I am in need of something like this and have been looking into it or the XJet but hear mixed comments on each... Seems that the setup you now have is the best way to go and no dragging stuff around like you mentioned, that is what I like about it. Thanks! -
Has anyone here used this product from Lowes or Home Depot called JoMax? It supposedly cleans and kills mold and dirt on house sidings such as vinyl. A friend of mine wants me to pressure wash his house so I am looking for a good vinyl siding cleaner for homes that works great and will not harm plants. I also found that Northern Tool sells some Home degreasers/detergents as well. Thanks for any info here!

CarolinaProWash, I am new to the pressure washing scene. I do automotive detailing for high end exotics and hot rods and had a few guys ask about pressure washing their homes. I used to turn it down but now that work is slowing down I would like to pick up some pressure washing jobs. I will check out that company you are speaking of in Charlotte. As for my signature, what do I need to put in there? I do not have a company name for pressure washing or website yet so not sure what to put. Thanks!
