  4. Part-Timers....what is your day job?

I have not started a pressure washing service as of yet , I'm still in the researching stages . But i do have a asphalt sealcoating business Which is a very short season Starting approx April 15 til Oct. 15 weather permiting maybe alittle longer or shorter . My full time job is a Teamster truck driver .
  5. Do you plow snow?

I have thaught about it but here in Illinois for about the last five years , We have not had big snow falls . I know guys who baught all new equipment many times (being financed) just to put it up for sale real quickly .
  6. I have a question guys ???????

I have A Asphalt sealcoating business , And i'm thinking about diversifying into pressure washing . Here is my question , many cities don't enforce sealcoaters to get a contractors license , and bond when you are sealing driveways . Some cities if they catch you will make you go to city hall and get one ,the price range is between $50.00 -$100.00 plus $25.00 bond fee . The license is good for a year , it's a seasonal business and a service business will never know how many jobs they will get in a particular town ? it could be one , two or three the whole season . What have you pressure washers encountered regarding code enforcement stopping you while you are cleaning a house or driveway ? Sealcoating is a companion business to paving so your licence specifies paving contractor even though with sealcoating you are not altering a structure . The jest of what i'm getting at is do code enforcement overlook what you are doing as they do with carpet cleaners ? P.S I'm fully insured but i will always try to get away with not getting a local business licence , let's face it if you are charging a $100.00 for a driveway and you have to spend $50- $100 for a licence there goes your profit , heck you may not do another job in that town for two months you know what i mean. As a sevice business you may work in 15 different towns in a short season , if you had to spend $50.00 - $100.00 for a license in each town Mama Mia there goes your profit margins , sealcoaters aswell as pressure washers are not getting big ticket prices for small jobs after all .
  7. I have a question guys ???????

Ahh blue Island , my uncle lived out there twenty years . I'm from Chicago Heights , You probably been to Da heights before . It's always nice to find someone from your neck of the woods.
  8. Gpm

I notice most guys are using 5 gpm hotwater machines , That being said i have been checking out 8 gpm units . Would this be way over kill for most jobs ? I understand gpm is more important then psi for speed which means more money in your pocket . If i was going to invest in a unit would a 5.5 gpm be plenty or should i go balls to the wall right out of the box and get a 8 gpm what say you ?
