  3. Cemetery Work

Was wondering if anyone was around Arlington National Cemetery? I have bid on headstone cleaning and was wondering if I win and become binded if there was anyone interested in some work, at least 15 weeks worth. I have three rigs with dual wash units and six guys but I could use some help to finish cleaning headstones so I can reduce my operating costs. Im from the lower part of Va and I would be renting a house for my employees. I would like to lower the time my guys are up there so heres the reason for the post. Just thought I'd ask to see if it might help. If you live around there atleast 20-30 miles maybe just post yes if your interested and Ill Pm you when I find out. Thanks Dan Mathis Dagan Exteriors :lgwave:

Price! go figure. lol I emailed and asked the DOC and this is the response. The other solicitation closed and a technical evaluation was done. All companies that sent proposals were found to be acceptable however, the pricing was way to high. So, the statement of work and the line items were revised and we are readvertising. I will attach a copy of the new solicitation. 7. Email Karcher and send a link to this thread!!! let them know about this ordeal. Its never good to buy a product from a crappy dealer, it gives the feeling they don’t care who sells there stuff and that they don’t screen their dealers very well. By the way go talk to your lawyer and give them a copy of your contract or bill and tell your lawyer that you don’t feel satisfied with the purchase and you want to get your money back or warranting all parts for 3-5 years in writing. Or get a certified letter mailed to this dealer about seeing him in court if he doesn’t do the above noted. :lgkick:

  10. Black streaks on red cloth awning

I would have to say good soaps clean bird droppings on cloth awnings. The awning cleaning industry uses different tools to do this type of job. (This market could use some targeting!!!) We use soaps that are designed to clean exteriors of metal, wood, concrete, stone, brick and other building materials. The Awning industry uses cleaners that are made to clean textiles. My 2. Dan
  11. Black streaks on red cloth awning

Pictures? Call an awning cleaning chemical company and explain what you have done and see what they have to offer. Most I've talked to know exactly what needs to be done if anything. Some times you have to make sure your contract states some marks wont come out because of neglected years of maintenance.
  12. gutterfilter--thumbs down!!!!!

I sold leaffilter and it worked great but The Distributor was a bit of a problem. I sold leaffilter for 12-18 a linear foot. Leaffilter was expensive to buy from the manufacture also. Now I started selling invisiguard, it's much more affordable and I sell install prices about 8-10 a linear. foot. I also hold the rights to the south east of Virginia. Works well but harder to install than leaffilter. Call me if your interested I can explain more about the products out there and why I install invisiguard. I'm a gutter protection nerd. Office 757-246-1102 Dan.
  13. Leaf stain in slabs - how to shift?

I wanted to pip up I'm not sure about the leaf stains but make sure your not applying bleach over rust because I remember hearing that bleach will help rust to Adhere to concrete making a chemical bond which is hard to remove. If I’m wrong I’m sorry but I thought I was sure you shouldn’t do that. I think that is why some rust spot you get called to clean won’t come out like normal. The homeowner sprayed bleach on it like ten times and you’re sitting there losing your mind.
  14. What do yall think

I have this Roofing company that always calls me when they mess up vinyl siding with the shingles. They don’t protect enough of the siding and it leaves marks like a crayon. I use goof off and it gets 80-90% off but it leaves those cleaned spots with a dried chalky look and a slight brown shadow. Tar sucks LOL. Does anyone know of a better way to remove tar scratched on vinyl? Does any one think a product like sil-o-wet will restore the appearance of the chalky look. I thought that maybe even the product Restore might even work to restore the natural oils in vinyl. Thanks for any of the help Dan
  15. What do yall think

I've heard of using mayo LOL I'll give it a test try on some vinyl. Does kerosene leave the area dried out? I will give your ideas a test try thanks. John your right around the corner maybe we should meet up and BS sometime. Dan
  16. Worth a few laughs

    that was great
  17. Try a marine battery runs well for me.
  18. Leafguard

Look at leaffilter.com or leaffiltersouth.com I used to sell them and Found them to work better than anything out there.
  19. House washing in the cold

:lgcold: All I can say is windshield fluid is flammable..................................... I saw a buddy throw the stuff on his burning motor and it caught on fire. We used Glycol to bring water temps below freezing without the freezing water. Cooool In the bakery our family owned, we used to use ice to bring the temp of dough to 74 degrees which helped the raw shelf life last longer. The problem is that we used more mix time to mix the ice into the dough, it wasn't as consistently distributed throughout, and it slowed our production down. The way we fixed the problem was we bought a glycol water chiller. It would produce water at the temp of 31 degrees and helped to speed the mix time which decreased production time. Point being anyone want to open bakery let me know ….. Anyway glycol is found in antifreeze and I think some window shield fluids. A pointless post but interesting... Anyway wait till its in the 40's Dan
  20. Hi all I've sent this to Don but I thought it would be good to post too, the more heads thinking the better. I would like to do all three, roof washing, house washing, decks, and sealing decks. I would like to know what I should be using right now because I feel I'm not using the right equipment or cleaner. Roofs- Im using Shingle Care premium cleaner and a 2000 psi 1.8 gpm power washer with the delicate nozzle, and 100ft of hose with thier water. Takes a long time 3 hours or more on 2000sqft. I put the cleaner on with a pump sprayer and let it sit then rinse. After it dries I apply shingle coat it has anti mold/algae in it, and helps to hold shingle gritt to the shingle. Houses- Im using the same 2000psi washer but with the general use nozzle and the applying the cleaner with a pump spray. Decks- Im using the same 2000psi power washer but delicate nozzle. I use pump sprayer and apply a little more solution to help remove grime. takes a while also. Also I was wondering do you use any type of roof safty equipment, climbing gear, shoes ect? I see the roof climbing gear on the internet but the triangle support confuses me on how to use them. I really dont want to screw that thing down on the roof top. Where should I look for buying roof climbing gear? How about a system to use on the ground does anyone use one? Also I think my price is not where it should be. Prices go as followed Roofs 1000-2000sqft =180 2000-3000sqft =230 3000-4000sqft =280 Houses 1000-2000sqft =150 2000-3000sqft =190 3000-4000sqft =230 Decks Price is .5--.6 cents a sqft Sealing is $20.00 hour Also I would love to know what the best set up would be to do this work and where to get it. As you can see I really want to do the best job but I think I need help in order to do that. I want to set a trailer or truck up to be able to do this type of work. So If anyone can help with any of the questions I would appreciate it. I really want to buy the right equipment. Wow I know that was alot but I want to make sure I dont ruin the power washing profession. The reason for the post is because there is so many different variables I wasn't sure what was best for me. Plus the wife thinks I'm addicted to power washing forums! Thanks again Dan Mathis Dagan Enterprises 757-246-1102
  21. Good Mike thanks. Just to fill in some info....since Started a new company 6 months ago now I have some ?s for the real professionals! Thanks to all for supporting the profession and for trying to help answer everyone’s questions. I think everyone has gained from Rod and Beths web site and we should be paying them an hourly fee for hosting it and for their time. With that said....Rod Beth I can give you a great deal on pwing your home and painting it. Kidding. I have to say since adding power washing to our services we have added a total sales of $37,000 since March of 2005. We offer roof cleaning, house washing, driveways cleaning, deck restoration, new construction, reality work, property management work, drive thru, dumpster pads, loading docks, parking spots, ect. 85% of the pressure washing work is residential, 15% is commercial. This year we will be adding exterior painting and landscaping to the other service we offer. Are other services include but not limited to: home improvements replacement windows, doors, siding, bathroom remodeling, roofing, ect. I hope we can add more commercial and industrial work to our pressure washing workload for next year. Our goal is 30% Our government contract work is still in play and we are advancing in that path also, we bid preventive maintenance and repair contracts mostly. One nice plus is now I can bid to power wash and paint different items on fedbizzopps, which is where my 30% will mostly, come from. For example I will also be targeting to clean printing machines at the newspaper companies and to chemically clean the paint lines in the Ford plant yearly. FYI after taking to one of the maintenance guys at the plant he said Ford shuts down all the plants in the us at one time to do all maintenance. It saves them millions he said. Not sure if he’s correct but… He told me car manufactures pay very good to do the work. If you can clean all the lines and be done by the time they are ready to open you will make NICE money. Anyway…Crossing my fingers… Since learning more about the power washing profession our company has taken a larger roll in educating our team and bidding work in the high pressure-cleaning world such as sewer jet cleaning, Dry ice cleaning, boiler clean outs and so on. We plan on studying and taking classes to certify our company to expand our roll as a high-powered pressure washing company. I hope and pray that things go good in the future. Thanks for all that have tried to answer my questions in the past. May everyone have a happy holiday! Dan :lgsideway:lgbow::lgkick::lgtear::lgangel::lgwave::lgmoneyey:lglolly:
  22. Hotsy

I was looking at a used equipment paper today and noticed a Hosty hot water 500 series pressure washer for what I thought was a good buy. $1200 I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the Brand? And for any feed back. Thanks Dan :island:
  23. I started a company 6 months ago..... Merry Christmas everyone. Dan
  24. Hotsy

Thanks Richard. I looked for a dealer close by but seems the closest is in the state next to me.
  25. A few homeowners that called me today wanting there deck cleaned and sealed when is it just to cold to do work like this? I told the homeowners that it was not the right time to do these types of projects but they really want it done. (Going to sell their houses in January) Both are over 1000 sqft and I bid them at $1.50 a sqft. Which is higher than my normal. I wouldn’t mind doing them since I have some free time this winter. Sometimes temps reach 50-60 in December is that just to cold? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Dan :lgcold:
