16 members donated to beth and rod for the board, in the last 24 hours there were 132 members that visited. I think some more should step up to the plate and help them out. How many of you have saved money from them running this board or either made more because of it.:lgmoneyey PAY UP SUCKA!:lgmoneyey

If I am not mistaken Richard Ivy is in U.k.

I don't know what you call a few extra bucks, but the difference in a 16 foot tandem axle trailer that is open and one that is enclosed is around $2000. I would rather spend the 2k on something that will make me more money. Yes it would be nice to have a nice enclosed trailer. but one thing to consider is that you need to have a truck capable of handling an enclosed trailer loaded with equipment. I currently have a full size dodge and I would not want to tow a 16 foot or so, enclosed trailer very far. I did a job the other day that was 4 hours away, ran their and back in one day. If I did more local work I would consider one that large. I know I could get a small one but I would rather wait until I could get a large one. On the other hand it is a lot easier working out of an open trailer. when it come quitting time and you are ready to leave, throw everything on back and hit the road.

I like the boat trailer cover Idea really good.

the trailer and tool boxes are worth at least half of that.

cujo that would probably fit mine even better. They are building one here. tsc. mike grill covers are inexpensive. mine was around $8.00 at wallyworld.

Jim Carroll replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Hey, I got my trophy quick too. -
I don't think you are out of line. It is nice to know that you came to check on us and let us know you are their if we have questions. I am considering putting this alarm on my open trailer. I do a lot of traveling and it would help me sleep when I am out of town staying in a hotel. I am not as worried about someone unbolting stuff as much as I am with someone stealing the whole trailer.

Jim Carroll replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Come on guys do you really want to see banners. I have a good question? When customer ask for something free, what do most of you say or think? Beth and Rod has been doing this for free. All of this info is worth very much to all of us so a small donation is the least you could do. I just sent mine via paypal. Took about 30 seconds, so you do have the time. -
This is the lock from the post on trailer security, I think under accessories or something. I also saw the lock and thought it looked pretty good

Lyle I found your site looking for trailers and thought that some of my friends here may be interested. I will definitely get one when I purchase a new trailer.

proportioner goes in hose barb for chemical hose. Some guys don't use them but I swear by them. I use them all the time.

Switching Pumps, Need to change pulleys
Jim Carroll posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I want to switch the pump on my 18 horse Honda from the General t9281 to a Ts2021. I need to know if anyone knows if I need to change both pulleys are just one and what size it would be. The 9281 that is on it runs at 1750 rpms and the 2021 is 1450 rpm. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I would also be willing to sell the 9281 if anyone is interested. -

An attitude like that won't get you anywhere because there is always someone willing to do something cheaper. That is another reason for doing samples. If you do a sample to show how well you can do it then the janitors and painters will have a hard time matching your sample. Better yet have them get the other samples first. A fine example of this is a job I did last January. It was an 1800's school that had been added on to and was nasty. The contractor was renovating it and turning it in to medical offices. I gave them a price from what I can remember around $9500. Guess who else they called? the painter. The painter did a sample with clorox downstreamed on the wall rinsed and hit the road. I did a sample right beside of him with a restoration cleaner and voila the difference in the original and mine were night and day. You could not even see where he had did his sample. His price--$4500. I got the job and ended up adding another $3500 for some additional work on the same building. If you look at Jeff's post on parking garages, he just finished a garage that had a jack-leg do it last year and now he has the garage to do every year because of doing quality work.

Oh by the way I know Jeff and I would not call his post exciting, you got to meet him in person and then you will know what excited is.

One thing that I could add is this: If you don't get the call back soon don't give up. I have done two jobs for a contractor and have not heard from him in maybe three months. From time to time I will call and leave a message on his cell phone voice mail(I guess he sends me to it). Anyhow on Thursday he called me to ask if I wanted a job, I said sure & told him how much per s.f. He said he would call me back. Sure thing 5 minutes later he called me back and said "Go Ahead". I then had to figure exactly how much the job was worth. $6,000 Now I normally don't quote over the phone like this but I know his work and his pay plan and what to expect. The last building I cleaned for him was around $3200 and he wrote me a check out before I was done and through in an extra $100 because he said I had to stay in a hotel. Thank you very much, the hotel was already figured in his price. I clean brick on new construction and it is a little bit different than chasing parking garage where someone has the option of cleaning or not. On most brick construction jobs the brick will be cleaned by someone, I just try to get there early and start marketing the job then. If I see a job with brick ties on it, I will stop then instead of waiting until the mason has finished. If I wait that long then many times you are too late. With property managers it may take them until there next year so than can work a job into their budget, so it is very important not to give up soon, just as Jeff has stated above.

Degree of deviation from pressure washing?
Jim Carroll replied to Tronman's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I do pretty much the same thing as Craig. I know a lot of guys in different trades and refer work to others. I stick with pressure cleaning and minor concrete repair and coatings. I can get the same $$ amount out of the concrete repair and coatings that I get with pressure cleaning. -
this is one that I recently started.

yeah, I think the Spraying Mantis is a hopper, that is what was used on this deck job.
-
this is part of the deck after it was washed. It looks like we may end up putting a colorseal on it. The hoa picked the color, and now they think it is too dark. To make the customer happy we will put a colorseal (similar to paint). The original plan was to seal the deck with a clear sealer. which would look a lot like what you see in this picture. the light spots that you see is where it is starting to dry. this was sprayed and then knocked down with a trowel. I will post more pic's monday after we finish.

some areas popped up really easy and others took a while. we used a 12" scarifier and a 24" scarifier. I know you can rent the smaller scarifiers from places like sunbelt. They work really well for coatings like this. However, you still have to use a hand grinder to go around edges that are walled or fenced. Craig check out www.worldofconcrete.com it has a list of suppliers for just about everything dealing with coatings for concrete.
