dual lance problems - HELP!
Jim Carroll replied to DustinC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
throw them away and use a regular gun and lance with a roll-over nozzle, you will find that it is much lighter. -
X-Jet Proportioners
Jim Carroll replied to Jim Carroll's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Good to know Jeff, I must have like 2 dozen of them now outfitted by the drill. -

i have heard of guys getting a tax credit for fuel run in their boats so i guess it would also go for putting it in equipment

Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?
Jim Carroll replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
why not buy a small open trailer, set up with a reserve tank and reels and your portable machine for residential and keep your large enclosed trailer. you could probably get a 10-12' open trailer for around $700. I have a 10ft and it is pretty easy getting in tight spots. You can plumb your small machine just like your big one. -

ask to bid on lawn maintenance.

You are thinking of proportioners, right. the orifice is the little stainless piece inside the xjet with a number stamped on it.
-
It is much easier in my opinion to use the proportioners, much easier to carry 1 gallon of hypochorite than five gallons.

$950 for $2 million.

if that is what you are using I would recommend etching it.

I deal mainly with contractors and many of them like the least amount of subcontractors as possible. it is less people that they have to look after and less paper work for them. some of the contractors that I clean brick for, I now go back and clean their flatwork and exterior windows and any masonry sealing that has to be done. for contractors they can sometimes get a better price from their subs if they give them more than just one project on a job. I have a friend that is a general contractor and he will call me for oddball stuff because 9 times out of 10 if its something that I can not handle I can get someone to do it for me and still make a few bucks off of it. I clean for him and do minor waterproofing and concrete repair for him and he pays me good. I like to stick with my specialty of masonry cleaning but if someone is standing there wanting to give me money I am going to take it if it is something I can handle and fit into my schedule. I still do a small bit of residential but I give my price and tell them when I can do it. Due to scheduling with some of my contractors often with residential I will tell them I have a two week lead time but if I can fit them in sooner I will. that has not been a problem. fife I like the sound of your coach. I do however like meeting people and talking with them. You just never know how that person can help you out.

Jeff you make me feel good with bad days like that. Sounds like some of my luck. Jeff would an off road siscor(sp) work. call me if you need any help I may have some free time soon.

United Rentals or Neff, Jethro

This happens all the time with military jobs.
-
I would not use it, however for the price that it is i am sure a lot of people buy it and use it without knowing correct application procedures and problems like this is what you end up with. With that being said I like the material because people call me to come get it up.

wally take a look at a roll-over nozzle. you can do the same thing with this as you can with a dual lance and it is a heck of a lot lighter than the dual lance.

jarrod you can try diluted liquid laundry detergent, I think around like 4:1 with water. I know it works for deck coatings. the detergent creates a film that coatings will not stick to, and then you can rinse off when done.

doolittle while enduring chemistry did you guys ever discuss the reactions of muriatic and 12%. I think I would just stick with the water. I know it can have violent reactions in containers not sure about on skin. just giving you a hard time:lgwave:

the only problem with pads is that you will wear them out quick on the edges he is talking about and also you will cut the color out. Lou these edges he is talking about is in between where two stamps meet, and it would probably be hard for him to flatten out these edges polishing. I have used pads before and they are great on travertine, granite and marble and for polishing concrete.to take these edges out he would probably need about a 1/4-3/9 wide diamond blade and hold it vertical to take them out and depending on the color of the release that is used it would leave your bare concrete color showing. the contractor would be alot better off taking care of while stamping that trying to do something after the fact.

Estimate Sales Pitch and Strategy
Jim Carroll replied to Mike Stahmer's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I always make follow up phone calls. when I call I also leave the conversation open where I have a reason to call back again. If some says that are not ready ask when you can call back to check on them. If they say two weeks, call back in two weeks and remind them that they told you to call back in two weeks, it's part of doing what you say you are going to do. something else that I try to remember is to "always ask for the order"-zig ziglar. he called it AAFTO. -
Barry, you now have more time to go out and sell. I would expect you to get up every moring like you did with your full time job and go to work selling. jeff mentioned a handful of opportunities another is to go and call on every construction site in your area. Just about all new construction has some sort of cleaning done before the general contractor turns it over to the owners. also go to trucking companies and ask for terminal manager or fleet manager about washing their trucks. I would also try to schedule multiple jobs for the same day, that way you can spend whole days selling instead of washing and selling on the same day. when you do a job go to the 5 neighbors bordering that particular property(the 3 across the street and the two next door neighbors) let them know you just cleaned Mr. Doe's house/biz and ask if you can clean their property.

if it is a dark color i would neutralize and rinse like crazy, if the oxalic dries on dark colored pavers it will leave a white haze.

different manufacturers make small rollers to flatten the ridges and it is fairly simple, the roller is put on a 6' handle, and you just roll those ridges while stamping

are any of you that are S Corps renting your equipment from yourself. i.e. xyz pressure washing is renting equipment from John Doe.
