I saw your sprayer setup in another thread. I really like the setup and am going to try and build my own. Mike -
Do you think reusing the water was killing the unloaders? Mike

I can't believe there weren't any bids!!!

Has anyone on this board considered using multiple business names to target customers? For example: DBA #1 - ABC Wood Care - use something like this to get targeted customers for deck and fence work. DBA #2 - ABC Pressure Cleaning - use this to get customers that are wanting pressure washing services. Just wondering if this is worth trying or not. You would have to spread your marketing costs between the 2 names which concerns me. Thanks, Mike

Business Cell Phone Question
mikew replied to tsutherland's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I use Nextel and haven't had any problems. Coverage is good in my area (Atlanta) and the direct connect feature is really handy. Mike -
Thanks to everyone who replied! I think I will stick with 1 name for now. Seems like more than 1 would be difficult to handle. Thanks! Mike

Hi Ken, What you say here makes sense to me. I have been reading (and re-reading) threads on this board for months now. There is more to this business then having a 5000psi pressure washer that is for sure. I can see why you are wanting to get away from using the word Pressure in your name. It is kind of the same reasoning as to why I want to use 2 names. My thought is that someone who wants their deck restored would rather use a company that has a name related to wood care etc... NOT PRESSURE ******. This goes along with what you were saying that most of your work is done with low pressure. On the flip side someone looking to have their house washed would not think to call a deck restoration company to have their house cleaned, driveway cleaned, etc... I may just have to try it out and see what works best. I'm open to thoughts, suggestions, experiences from anyone. Thanks! Mike

Hi Scott, That is good to know. If I didn't see it on the shelf I probably would just leave but now I will ask. Thanks! Mike

Hi Ken, Curious as to why you want to get away from the word pressure? I was thinking of doing something like this: (names are just examples....) INC and DBA this name: ABC Pressure Cleaning DBA this name under above INC: ABC Wood Care Does that sound like what you have done? Thanks, Mike

Hi Don, Can you shed some light on how DBA's simplify things at the end of the year or would I need to speak with an accountant? Thanks! Mike
-
Hi Scott, I was going to initially advertise under all of the relevant headings. But now I am wondering if that is best. My concern is that if my name implies pressure cleaning services then customers would not want to call my company to work on their deck when they could call a company that implies wood care in their name. Same principal applies in reverse as well. What do you think?

Pressure Treated Fence questions
mikew posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hi everyone, I'm in the process of getting some practice/experience. I'm starting with my own property. I'm going to restain my pressure treated fence. I stained the fence 3 or 4 years ago using a Behr stain. I'll try to upload pictures of the fence and can of stain. Here are my questions: 1. From reading previous posts it sounds like Behr stain can be a pain to remove. What do I need to use to remove the Behr stain? HD80?? 2. Do I need to use a brightner once step 1 is complete? If so, what brand? 3. What do I use to apply the chemicals used in steps 1 and 2 above? A pump up sprayer? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm close to Sun Brite Supply in GA. Hopefully I can get my chems from them. Thanks! Mike -

Hi Shane, Thanks for the information. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks! Mike -
Hi Scott, Thanks for the info. I'll go to Advanced and check it out. I did buy 1 gallon at WalMart to try it out. It was around 4 bucks. Thanks! Mike

I saw a cleaning product in WalMart the other day called Purple Power. Is this the product that you guys are talking about? If not then where do you get Purple Power? Thanks, Mike

Pressure Treated Fence questions
mikew replied to mikew's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I'm just about ready to start my fence. I went to Sunbrite on Thursday and got my needed chems. My questions is related to the green buildup on my fence in places. I assume this is mold and mildew??? Is that correct? Will the HD80 remove this as well or will I need to do additional steps in the process? Picture is attached. Thanks! Mike -

You will need to use photo editing software that will allow you to resize pictures. Most will do this. Here is link to some free photo editing software that I found. http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/imageediting/tp/freephotoedw.htm Hope this helps. Mike -

HI Ryan, Thanks for the info. Sounds like a 0 degree could mean trouble if you aren't careful. I am in GA and I have noticed that the stucco here is lousy. I haven't tried to wash any stucco yet but I have seen the stuff around (my wife is a real estate agent). Mike -
...and if you look at the bid history it looks like the highest legit bid was $400.

Hi Carlos, Newbie here wanting to know what kind of problem using a 0 degree tip on the wood trim and stucco would cause. I don't want to make the same mistake when I start! Thanks! Mike
