Do the chemicals loose their effectiveness in the cold weather? Do you increase your chem ratios in colder weather? thanks, Mike

Hi Matthew, Do you know if your Shurflo cycles on and off while you are spraying chems thru the xjet? I've considered doing something like this as well but am concerned about early pump failure. Thanks, Mike

Hello, Has anyone used Summit Hose Reels? I'm in the market for a HP hose reel and found these. They look sturdy and well made. I like the stacking feature. Here is a link on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7528150178&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Here is their web site: http://www.summithosereels.com/ Thanks in advance, Mike

Technique and Pricing Help Needed
mikew replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Lou, I Agree with Scott. Read this thread... http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4943 Thanks, Mike -
Don, I put my gutter zap in a 5 gallon bucket and dip the brush in the solution and then scrub the gutters. Usually doesn't take long. I learned as well that if they only want the fascia, eves, and gutters done then you should price it as if you were washing the full house anyway. You still have to prewet and rinse the entire side of the house. You can explain why when you give the quote. I use a real soft brush from Home Depot called a Siding Brush I think. It does a good job of scrubing the gutter and fascia board. Hope this helps. Thanks, Mike

mikew replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hi Lou, I've always called them fascia boards. The undersides are called eves. Mike -
Thanks for the input guys. I think I will give it a try. Do you leave this attached all of the time or do you put this on when you need to change the oil? Thanks! Mike

Best additive or method to prevent window streaking?
mikew replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Craig, Do use an extension pole to reach the windows or a ladder? I like the Free Window Cleaning Idea... thanks for sharing. Thanks, Mike -
Found this line in a sample contract: The maximum limit of liability of __________ company under this warranty shall be $10,000. Under terms and conditions of their contract. Does anyone use this line in their contracts? If so, what dollar figure do you use? Thanks, Mike
-
Hi Dan, It's the one Craig linked to in his post. Mike
-
Hi Craig, Thanks for the reply. I was wanting to see if anyone else was use the $10,000 figure. I've started with that contract and am making any needed changes as well. Thanks, Mike
-
Thanks Rod. Do you cap most of your jobs at $10,000? Not sure what you mean by "It depends on the general liability insurance coverage you have to cover the job as well". I have $1 mil. in GL coverage which would cover any job that I do (exept fleets...I don't wash fleets). Thanks! Mike

Hi Everett, How much pressure are you using up close to do the rinsing? Thanks, Mike
-
Jeff, Do you rinse the concrete after applying or do you let it dry on the concrete. Thanks, Mike

Hey Jeff, Cute looking boy. I have a boy who just turned 3 in August. He is the best and cutest I have seen (of course partial to my own!!) I really have a great time playing with him and being a dad. We have 3 older girls who are great as well! Glad that our 4th (and final) was a boy! Mike

Michael, Looks great! Thanks, Mike -
Anyone have a statement like this in their terms and conditions?? If not, then do you have something similar? I found this on a sample contract on another site and was wondering if this is really used. Thanks, Mike

Hi Lou, Proportioners are small plastic pieces that you place in the chem line to restrict draw. The xjet comes with several different color proportioners and each one will give you a different draw rate for your chems. Here is a link to a Sun Brite page that explains this a little better: http://store.yahoo.com/sunbrite/howawix.html I don't have a picture available or I would post it. Hope this helps. Mike

Hi Lou, The xjet comes with several proportioners to control the chem ratios. Thanks, Mike

I don't think the writeoffs are any different. Why do you think that a C-corp would be stupid for most or all of us? For a C-corp your salary that you pay yourself from the corp is carried over to your personal tax return to be taxed at whatever rate applies. You can also leave net income in your C-corp which is taxed at a lower corporate rate than most personal tax rates. Mike

Jimmy, Also this wand is heavy duty. I feel pretty confident that it will hold up to a lot of use in the field. I couldn't justify the cost of a coress or Steve Rowlett's heavy duty wand so I got this one instead. Just my personal opinion. Thanks, Mike
