  1. Thanks for the fast reply men.

Mike, the RS sinks through the fuzz, coloring the solid wood while leaving the fuzz whiteish.

Rich, I do have the Makita and an Osbourne. I used it on my deck and offer a super buff upgrade. A problem unbeknownst to you is the this is a shadow box PITA, can't buff it. I wouldn't if I could though. I do not think that I could get the labor back from the client. I have read about the WTW and have a fiver on back order from Sunbrite.

Reed, the Wood Defender is what I had in mind. Celeste must be busy, I thought she would be the first to post on this. So, WD will sit on top of my fuzz?

    Hi bill,

Thanks for the explanation. I would've though the fuzz would retain the color. Where do you buy the Osbourne brush?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. Hi everyone,

Was cleaning a deck yesterday and had something happen that was a little scary. I use

a ball valve on the end of my high pressure hose so I can switch between attachments

while working (gun, surface cleaner, ext. pole, etc...) I had the ball valve closed and I

connected the gun into the quick connect. I turned the ball valve on and it shot out of

my hand and down the deck stairs. It happened in a split second. I would say the ball

vavle and end of my hose easily went at least 20ft from where I was standing. I went

and picked up the end of my hose and shut the ball valve back off. I realized it had

blown the o-ring out of the quick connect so I replaced the o-ring. Hooked my gun

back in, triple checked my connections and turned the ball valve on and went back

    to work.

In retrospect, this could have been dangerous. It could of hit someone standing

behind me, blown through a window, etc... Now I am curious about other folks

    experiences like this.

Was this just simply a case of I didn't properly seat the gun in the quick connect?

Has anyone ever had a quick connect blow apart?

Do you replace quick connects on a scheduled interval to prevent failure due to wear?

When you have multiple hose lengths connected on your hose reel do you join them with

quick connects or used permanent style connectors?

If you use a ball valve... do you make sure the area behind you is clear before

opening the valve while the machine is running?

If you don't use a ball valve... have you ever had a connection blow apart when you

    started your machine?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  3. I've bought concentrated scent addatives from espec in the past and they smell great. I love having a fresh lemon, cherry, citrus smell when I'm done.

Also, some of my customers don't like the strong bleach smell. I think that anything that gives the impression of a strong chemical makes them nervious. Plus it's just not a pleasent smell.

The problem with the espec concentrate is the price. I would have to add a quart to every 5 gallon mix to overpower the bleach smell.

Does anyone else add scents to there mixes? If so, what do you use and where could I get it?

    Thanks

    Dan

Steve Rowlett sells a lemon scent to kill the bleach smell. I think it is called Lemonator. www.rowlettpressure.com

  4. I had this same email this morning in my inbox.

Whats their angle? I have gotten those stupid emails before but I couldn't figure out the scam.

I think they either request you send a large sum of money (say 10,000) to cover the cost or they ask for your bank account information in order to clean you out.

  5. I will factor the price of cleaning gutters into the housewash price as well as front steps and walkway. I don't like my name to go on a housewash with bad curb appeal. My opinion is the homeowner will never tell that he was cutting cost by not wanting to pay extra for these options.

I mix my gutter cleaning solution in a bucket, apply with a extension brush, then rinse.

Same for me. Cleaning the gutters is included in all of my house wash estimates. Dirty gutters detract from an otherwise clean house.

  6. Very cool celeste.

    We use concretecoatingsinc.com

Master your concrete preparation and you should have good luck with many of the coatings out there.

Here's one we finished a couple of weeks ago.

The picture you posted... what type of coating is this? Acrylic? Acid?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  7. OMG!! If I ever give consideration to living (or staying more than a day or two) in the Peoples Republik of Maryland, PLEASE kick me in the head until I lose all recollection of the idea...

Sounds like you may need a license in MD just to walk down the street! :lgsideway
