  1. Stripping Sealer from Pavers

A Methylene Chloride based stripper will remove failed paver sealers. A common brand name is Dads Stripper. Apply in sections, let dwell, and turbo tip off.
  2. World of Concrete 2009, Feb 3-6, Las VEgas

Yes I have. I go every two years and this will be my 3rd time. Best show I have ever been to.
  3. World of Concrete 2009, Feb 3-6, Las VEgas

Anyone going? I'll be there for a few days.
  4. Super sealant with lifetime warranty .......

The problem is in the way they market. These products will permanently petrify the interior preventing rot and decay. They will do nothing though for UV, dirt, grime, etc. which are the main reasons we treat wood. These type of products can be used in addition to regular maintenance but are not the solution to wood care.
  5. Maybe because the mold was in the wood prior and you can see it coming through a transparent but not through a solid?
  6. Armstrong Clark

Beth, did you use that Super Cedar color I sent you yet?
  7. Blackened decks

I also have never seen a parafinic oil stain such as Timberoil turn black.
  8. Blackened decks

TWP rarely if ever turns black. Mildew can grow on any surface, but it is known that linseed oil can promote mildew growth. There happens to be linseed oil in the majority of oil based stains.
  9. Blackened decks

Most water based stains will not go black from mildew as they do not promote mildew growth.
  10. SIKKENS vs TWP

TWP is a much better product then Sikkens
  11. What color did I send you? If you want I will send some small samples of the other two Defy colors to test.
  12. Isn't there some Defy in your garage?
  13. I have had numerous customers tell me that the Defy holds color longer on their hardwoods then any other brands we sell.
  14. A couple decks from this year

TWP 200 series is a great stain. I used it this year on my deck in April and it has not changed color at all. No dirt, no fading, and no darkening.
  15. A couple decks from this year

    Looks good!
  16. I have a few times in the 16 years we have been in business. Mostly were in the very beginning when honestly I did not have much experience. Well I finally got to fix one after 15 years! The Short Story: Back in the early 90's there were very few people who did deck restoration and really no one knew how to do them properly. We were hired to restore a large deck and gazebo that had turned black from Penofin. Well back then I didn't have a clue what a "deck stripper" was. We tried washing this deck with a cleaner called Biowash Simple Wash. The cleaning came out horrible! I was promptly called back and was fired on the spot! Well every two years since we have done the neighbors deck and I was constantly reminded of our failure since they never got it fixed, just recoated it and made it worse. They finally moved and the neighbor referred us to the new owners.
  17. They were too fragile. Any pressure and they would have fell off.
  18. Looks great! What made you mix those two colors together?
  19. Thanks and yes this deck had always bothered me. I was very happy to finally get a chance to fix it properly
  20. Typically we do not do any sanding unless it is just to remove some minor splinters.
  21. Stained with TWP 120 Pecan. Deck is wet from raining.
  22. Stripped and Brightened with PowerSolve DSI Stripper and Brightener. Floors were a little dark since it was still wet.
  23. Armstrong Clark - Semi Solid

Just a reminder that for anyone who is new to AC stains, we can ship you some free product to try! Just send me a PM with your address and color and we will ship you a pail. We even have Oxford Brown!
  24. We have been using water downed NaOH to remove grayed decks for years. Works very well.
