Why I am going with A.C.
Scott Paul replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Okay here is what was explained to me about Super Cedar. 1. It is not a semi-solid. 2. It will look like the Transparent Cedar in finished color. 3. It has 3 times the amount of Trans Oxides as the regular Transparent Cedar. Hence being priced with the cost of the semi-solids. Basically this is a lightly tinted Cedar Color. Having 3 times the trans oxides, it will give substanial better UV protection then the Tranparent Cedar. Hope this helps -

I agree but honestly my site is so feature rich it will have issues with anyone who has a 56k modem. It will not matter if the video is there or not. Joomla is a great platform but it is not the fastest. -

It actually has more and is considered in the semi-solid range. -

eco-friendly sealer?
Scott Paul replied to Tammyf's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
All Defy Products are registered with the MPI as a "green" wood stain. Just because other stains are VOC compliant that does not mean they are green. If he wants a "crystal" clear sealer then go with the new Defy Extreme. It's the first of its kind and I have seen it on wood for 9 months with zero fading: Defy Extreme Stain -

We have only had about 4 days of decent weather here in michigan where we could do any staining. It's hurting our schedule and call volume.:( -
semi transparent vs solid pros and cons?
Scott Paul replied to a68cudas's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Natural looking deck vs. painted looking deck Most people prefer to have a natural looking deck with the grain showing through. -

I am going to change the deadline to May 17th. That is one month. I believe this will give people more time to pick the correct deck/picture to post. Alot of contractors are dealing with weather related issues as well. -

Tony, the reason we would like new pictures is so that people just didn't pull out some older pictures they have without making an effort. The deck you did a couple of weeks ago is a great picture but so is alot of other contractors pictures that were done last year or prior. I apologize if the timing was bad for you but it would not be fair to make an exception. If I allowed yours then I would need to allow every past picture. I do hope you understand as I do appreciate your business! By the way I said a new picture not a new deck :) -
One Year Old TWP Stain
Scott Paul replied to Scott Paul's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Dan, I added it back to my site in 5 Gallon Pails only. I need to drop ship them. If you order the Cedar 201 it will be $159.99 per pail + shipping and will ship out from the NE area. All other colors will drop directly from Amteco and they will charge me an extra $20 per pail plus shipping costs.Sorry but this is the best scenario I could come up with. -

Ipe' stain shoot out
Scott Paul replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Kevin, IPE verticals will last 2-3 years with most stains. It's the horizontals that's the problem.
