  1. Draw rates

Mike, thank you SO MUCH for your clarification!! For a year now I have been battleing this product and being told to cut it 50-50 and xjet it. So then I was getting about 20-25% chems if I am doing the math right. I really appreciate your help on this
  2. extension pole

Barry has been helping me find a extension pole and I have been looking as well. I found the Ettore Reach 27'. Does anyone have any pros and cons about it? Thanks Don
  3. Draw rates

Let me see if I am understanding this, If I use Gutter Shock full strength and xjet it then I will roughly be at 50% GS and 50% water. Is that right?
  4. Hey Scott, Is that a 1/2 cup to a 15 gallon container? Thanks
  5. Who has Worker's Comp?

When I called several temp agencies here in town they told me they dont allow their workers to get more than 3 feet off the ground. Does any of your temp agencies do that too?
  6. I need to know the ratio for xjetting GS on with a 2.8 gpm machine. I used a pump up this past weekend and it worked great (50/50). But the next house I am doing the gutters are about 30' off the ground. Also, a dumb question, on tips the bigger the orfice the decrease in pressure right? If I wanted a 1000 psi tip what size orfice do I need? Thanks for all your help.
  7. I learned at a round table about this sprayer. I was just curious if it would reach 2 story gutters about 18ft off the ground? Shurflo Rechargeable Electric Backpack Sprayer — 4 Gallon, 40 PSI, Model# SRS-600
  8. Salesman

What about a lead generator and not a salesman? We had a construction company send out someone asking if we were interested in new windows....then he writes down the info, the next day or two someone books a appointment then comes out so forth and so on?
  9. I think I'll just stick to siding and decks. Wow, I checked out that website. So much for Sunday after church dinner.
  10. I found this new 6x12 trailer for 2 grand. Will it be a good starting point for a hot water set-up? Thanks for your input Ziebart Z-Tech Undercoating!! 2990# GVWR 1120 pound curb weight 2" Ball Hitch 5'-5" INTERIOR HEIGHT 32" Curbside Door 6" Aluminum Stoneguard Floor 5/8" Plywood / Walls - 3/16" Lauan Aluminum Treadplate Fenders Platform Height 20" 1 Year Warranty
  11. Why PWing?

I know what you mean Barry. I still have my full time job as well. I always wanted to own by own business. My Dad had his (water well drilling) and I knew that was a great lifestyle. But like a dummy I didnt take it over. I started a handyman business and did okay with it for extra money, but some jobs were just too much for me. So on the internet I did a search about decks, bought a manual, and wound up running a small ad for washing residental homes. I found TCN, went to a roundtable, found this sight, and I feel really comfortable with the knowlege that I am receving on this sight. I am still really new, but I feel like everyone elses hard work has probably saved me 2 years of learning how to do it on my own. Just the other day I did a building and across the street was the 2nd house I washed in my career. It took me 3 hours to do it back then because of the equipment that I had and my knowledge. Now it would take 1 1/2 and thats with setting everything up and tearing it down. I owe a lot to you guys and to Steve R. over at TCN. I dont think I will ever be able to repay everyone. Thanks Don
  12. gutterfilter--thumbs down!!!!!

I know it saved me. I was looking into it.
  13. This is the start of my second season and I am wanting to either buy a wand or surface cleaner first. What would you suggest? Thanks Don
  14. What would you buy?

That is no joke. Today I cleaned my first commercial brick building. I did lots or research on here last night and found out the roto nozzle. I went out and bought one last night and man did that thing work like a charm. I xjetted my solution on waited about 10 minutes and used it. Hopefully these pictures load up. I have a hard time with them for some reason. Anyway, I cant say thank you enough to everyone on this bbs. It has made my life easier. Thanks again Don
  15. What would you buy?

Yes, I xjet everything. I will look into a lance extension instead of a wand. Thanks Don
  16. What would you buy?

Well, common sense tells me to buy a wand first to make life a little easier. Then in a few weeks I can buy a surface cleaner. I am going after my local banks for their drive throughs so that is why I want to get a surface cleaner. But some of the houses that I washed during my first year were Tony Soprano style houses that I just couldn't quite reach the peaks.
  17. Any Gamers???

I like the Medal of Honor games.
  18. Price

Russell, I live over in the past Eureka and I have read that the normal price around here was $1.35 a sq ft. but have been unable to get that.
  19. End of the year

Well, the season has basically wrapped up for me. This was my first year washing part time. I grossed a little over $7k and spent $1k in advertising. I have a few questions for everyone. 1. Next year I really want to "play ball". Yes, I have one of those Lowes machines, but it did me very well. From talking to different ones and reading this board, my guess is I am looking at about 15k for trailer set up with hot water. Did most of you guys get a loan to buy everything or did you save up and pay cash? 2. Where can I read everything there is about chemicals? I met a guy at a roundtable once and I was so impressed that he knew everything. I would like that knowledge as well. Thanks for everything. I hope everyone had a good holiday.
  20. End of the year

2 of my main concerns for this coming year are as follows. 1. I want to upgrade to a hotwater machine. If I want to get serious in concrete cleaning for banks than from what I gather is I need hot water. 2. I want an enclosed trailer. I would sure hate to put a 4K rig on a open trailer out in the elements since I dont have a garage. I am also running an ad in both phone books. What kind of business jump can I expect? Thanks for all your help
  21. There was a section of 2nd story vinyl above the garage that I did this weekend. I handed my helper the wand with the xjet on it with the my container being on the ground. The chemical went all the way up the line except for the last 5 ft. We wound up mixing some 12% in a spray bottle and sprayed it on. Does that problem have a remedy? I could see the same problem putting a x jet on a extension wand. Thanks
  22. Technique and Pricing Help Needed

How do you guys reach that high? My x-jet wont shoot that far. Myabe its my gpm per minute.
  23. I made many mistakes today, or maybe my day just didnt go right I dont know. First lesson learned...dont take the jobs when they just want the soffit facia and the gutters cleaned. Its either all of it or none of it. Second lesson learned...I sprayed GS on a brush for the gutters instead of x-jetting. This saved me A LOT of product and seemed to do good. But this house (1200) sqft took me THREE :lgangry: hours to do the soffit, facia, gutters, and the eaves of the house. I felt like my dad when he said he used to get 50 cents an hour to bail hay when he was a kid. What is a quicker method. I've heard of people x-jetting gutter cleaner on, letting it sit 5 minutes, then rinsing it off. Never has worked for me. Does everyone have a wand? Is that the magic to this problem instead of an extension pole and a brush? And speaking of brushes, whats the best brush to use under the gutters to get that 2 inches of facia board? Thanks for your help
  24. Technique and Pricing Help Needed

Lou, bid it as a whole house wash. You'll be glad you did. Those facia boards are going to be SERIOUS back breakers. I started this last summer and up to now I have been getting on a ladder with a extension brush. This will take a lot of time. Maybe the pros on here can tell us a better method to do those facia boards. Personally my prices have been to low this summer and fall. Looking at your pictures I would be in the 6-700 dollar range.
  25. Starting New Company

Greaser, I would say the same as the previous post. Read this board many times over. The search function is great. You can start out part time. I started with (dont laugh everyone) a briggs and stratton special from Wally World. I ran a local ad in the paper every two weeks and have built a good part time business. I have upgraded my machine, got more hoses, etc. Almost all the money I made went into the business up front. Plus, I made some great contacts that supply me with chemicals and accessories. Keep reading and I wish you great success.
