Even though I feel I am still pretty green to the pressure washing business, I was wondering if there would be any interest in a roundtable around St. Louis? I have a couple of ideas...but I need to talk to them first. I was thinking late Feb? I would like to gear it more towards the business side vs the tech side.

Don M. replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thats weird.. -
What would happen if you run a 8 GPM machine through a hot box or a surface cleaner thats only rated for 6 GPM? Thanks

Mine is just a measly PR of 2. I hope I can grow up to be like Barry some day.

My First "challanging" Client of the Year!!! Aye Yaye Yaye!
Don M. replied to fireandrain's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I wouldnt worry about it. We had something like that last year. We did a two tone deck, she cut the check, said everything looked really good. A week later the husband calls back and said we missed a spot on the trellis. We did, as we were there she flew into my guy saying we were supposed to fill every knot hole in the deck. He called me, I told him to fix the trellis and to get out of there. I sent them a copy of our agreement, what I was going to do and what we did. It said nothing about filling knot holes. She called me dozens of times and finally I told her to not ever call again. You get them every now and then. -
Solid nightmare of the week.

Looks good Rick. We just finished a 2 tone not too long ago. A pain in the arse, but its a nice feeling when it looks so good. -
Hope all is well Scott

Removing Deck Stain from jeans/shirts
Don M. replied to Scott Paul's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Just go and by another pair just like it. She'll never know. -
I agree Terry. I just raised prices roughly 4% on my silver plan house wash. I'm going to go off topic a bit here, but this year has started off pretty good for me. The last couple of years were very challenging to say the least, with last year seeing my business become the Titantic. This year I have adapted to the higher price theory, and its working. Marketing cost are controlled WAY better than last year. My marketing got out of hand, and it just didnt return the results I needed. My closing rate could improve some, right now I'm at roughly 38% but $ wise I'm a few more hundred more than where I was last year. Raise those prices!

What stains work well with airless sprayer?
Don M. replied to Rob R.'s question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Jeff, are you using olympic maxium? -
I knew I wasnt doing something right.

Ken, I might be missing something here... Your saying 5 time exposure rate to a list of 20,000. So that is 100,000 pieces total. Correct? I am assuming you based your 2% number off of 100,000. If that is correct then wouldnt it be 200 calls instead of 400 calls?

Bob will not treat you wrong on the shipping. I know he has a handling fee if the order is less than $30 or something like that, but anything over that I dont believe he makes anything on the shipping. He'll treat you right if there is an issue.

Thoughts on Stripper
Don M. replied to rj242's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I used the delevan set up some last year, and it really went through the chems. On a oil based deck, I was able to mix f18 pretty hot and downstream. I like the idea of just one hose for everything. -
Its been hard to get into the last few days.

I've had people use paypal. You (the customer) doesnt have to have an account with them. You have to be set up.

Yes, it was worth 1.99. I ran out of Charmin and had to use it today.

I purchased a 100 dollar e-book about starting a power washing company have questions
Don M. replied to Young1's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yes, thats the one I bought before I picked up a wand. And then I ran into the first deck and laughed. Did some hardcore research online. That book is junk. Along with the video. -

Barry, I just did another 800 or so last week from it... Just hang in there...I use it just to get my website way up there. -
In the state of Missouri a new well has to at least go 80' and be cased 80'. I would call your state enviormental people and found out the specifics. I know when my Dad use to drill wells, we could put in a 200 ft well, pump, tank, etc for around 3500.00

I think Ken just nailed it from half court.... I got caught in this trap when I first started..."Oh no one is going to pay that to have their house washed" When I changed my attitude and worked on my salesmanship, things changed. I will be totally honest with you...because of my stupidity of charging too low in the beginning, I am still paying for that today! I have customers that I charged $150 dollars washing a ranch house when I started dont understand its almost double the price now. Things go up, gas goes up, etc. I went to wal-mart bought one can of formula, a bag of chicken, some baby foods. 2 sacks cost me $60. If you get on here and brag that you do housewashes 2 story jobs for 250 and make 125 dollars an hour you are full of it. You dont know your numbers. Trust me...been there and done that. Its all about target marketing...being a sniper in a world full of junk advertising.

Maybe thats why you had to jury rig your hose instead of being able to buy a new one.
