Heres some pictures of a new construction job I finished today. When I got there the masons had been so sloppy you could barely see the beautiful bricks from all the mortar smears and blobs but with the help of Sure Clean 600 detergent and sraper here and there it came out nice. About 6 hours before I took this picture there was no grass, and no mulch at this place. They work quick. I snapped this pic just before I did the final rinse down after waiting for them to move their cutting stations and put in the land scaping.

Cleaning work at construction sites beyond pressure cleaning
Chuck Richard posted a topic in Construction Cleaning
At the last couple of houses I cleaned the brick on I met the crew that comes in and cleans all the floors, walls, carpets, windows, and so on in a new house just before closing. Does anyone here run a business where this is part of it? It looks like a very smart and profitable add on. -
Just wanted to stop in and see how things were going. Haven't had much time for online, this has been an overwhelming season. Never thought I would say this but I can't wait for winter. These 10 hour days are killing me. But no pain, no gain. I'll be back to my posting self when things calm down. Beth and Rod, everything looks great. See ya this winter!!!

How is everyone? Been a while since I had time to sit at the ol' puter. This season is going to be a mad house here in NC. After the drought last year and the wettest winter/spring we have had in a long time combines for lots of business. It has rained everyday this week but I had to work in it to keep up. Today it is supposed to rain 2 inches so I decided to give it a rest. I'm leaving tonite for Indianapolis. Anyone here live around there? I'll be up there all day and nite friday. Hopefully it won't be raining or snowing there.

On tuesday, right in the middle of the first job of the day I recieved a call on my cell from my brothers reserve unit Srg. She told my brother he had been deployed for one year duty in Operation Noble Eagle. He would be leaveing in two days. We immediatly quit work and I gave him the rest of his time here off. The bad thing is I am so booked I had to work 9 hours today and another 10 tommorow. I hired a new guy who is a great worker, but for every up there is a down so therefore he has no licence. I have to pick him up and drop him off everyday. I am way to busy to look for another guy, but I need one who can drive. I'm happy my brother is getting to go like he wanted to but sad he is gone. He will miss a whole year of his nephews growing up, birthdays, christmas, thanksgiving, easter, 4 of july, and all the other great things I have always took for granted. I also took for granted how great of an employee my brother was. I never had to say a thing, he knew what to do. I hope I can keep up this year without him! Please help the forces by donating phone cards, whether or not you believe in the war and support you should still put those out dying for us first no matter what.

Which sealers do you use? How many partial pails do you have?
Chuck Richard replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I stick with Ready Seal and Olympic. I really like the Ready Seal light brown. I use Olympic when I can,t wait on the Ready Seal. I started out useing Wolmans, but found their products to be time consuming to apply and it just didn't last more than a year without beginning to look bad. I,m ready to hear the reviews on Wood Tux. Anyone applied it to aged wood yet? -
Welcome aboard Jason. Hope we can help you grow your business.

Try Sure Klean 600 detergent or their 800 stain remover. Has worked for me in the past, depends on how deep that red mun is in the surface. Do not apply more than 2 applications or it may damage the surface.
-
Theres no way you could do it for $600. You said 139 to fly. Budget is cheapest on trucks and one way from there would cost you around 700-800 plus the 600-700 you'll spend on fuel. Don't forget motel and food costs. The last few years I,v spent 4 months of the year on the road, so trust me the expenses add up. Last Time I went to amarillo it cost me 175 each way for gas, but average gas prices were 1.00 a gallon.
-
I can go from Chapel Hill, NC to Amarillo, TX in 20 hours. I think the milage is about 1700. This should help you figyre your time. Keep in mind I only stop for gas to do it this fast and I run atleast 10 - 15 over the speed limit. Its a buetiful trip going from mountains to plains to desert. If you have the time I highly suggest you make the trip yourself. And be sure to stop at The Big Texan in Amarillo and see if you can eat their famous 72 ounce steak dinner.

I'll go get it for you and deliver it. I have family in Texas I would love to see. Let me know if your interested and I'll give you a price.

Good tool for applying acid and other harsh products.
Chuck Richard posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
This is what I use. You can make one for about 20-30 dollars. It can be adjusted for diffrent things. It has a max draw of 5-1. This is good for when you want to keep corrosive chemicals out of your hoses, pumps, and sprayers. When ever the thing gets to corroded, chucnk it and build another. -

Your right jon, if you can't find it there they don't make it. -
It is in Baltimore, MD March 20-22 at the convention center. Any one planning on attending? I am going to try my best to go. I really want to see the Prosoco booth.

I hope this works out well for you and Rod. You deserve for it to.

How do you find the time to do all you do? Can you show me where to find it too? Good luck at your presentation, have Rod snap some pics and post em.

What kind of residential pressure washing are you doing?
Chuck Richard replied to Beth n Rod's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I do alot of new construction(decks, driveways, garages, decks, brick) I also do house washing, deck cleaning/stripping and sealing, roofs, gutters, fog light replacement, concrete, brick, and just about anything else you can think of. I have a few maintanence contracts with some local stores and restraunts, and do the bus stops for the city. The basement with no drains I just did was one of the weirdest things I'v washed. And like paradise said people who only want to wash theair house and they have trees and weeds growing a foot tall in the gutteres, or they want their porch wash and the rest of the house is black with mildew. -
Restoration and Renovation Expo
Chuck Richard replied to Chuck Richard's topic in Chemicals & Safety
Don't think I,m going to go after finding out its mostly interior remdeling type stuff. I want to go to one that is nothing but exterior brick and stone. You could see some products in action first hand and learn alot of new things to better and expand your business. It took me 2 years to relize it but diversifacation is the best way to make the year round profits you want and deserve. And they build new things all winter long. New construction work is messy and challenging but is a gaureenteed income year round, no matter the weather or economy. It never slows develpment around here. Sometimes it picks up around here when the economy drops. I love new construction work. -
Handy little tool for winterizing

Heres what I made after I got tired of pumping windshield washer fluid through my units every night. Works great and can be made from things found at your local hardware store or HD or Lowes.
