PW and Surface Cleaner issue
rsweeper replied to Chad A's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Replace the unloader, Dont even mess with it, Repair kits are almost as much as a new unloader, and not worth the time to repair. We have not been having any luck with the K7 latley, And after talking to Russ, When this last one I put on dies I am going to change to the ZK1. Now on to your spray bar, The nozzles may look like they are working right and spraying, but if they have anything in them the hole will be a bit smaller raise the pressure and the unloader will react like it has to much pressure and unload. Unless you change out the spray tips with new, A real cheap fix, only a couple of bucks each, You wont know for sure. If your unloader is working right with just a spray tip in the wand most likely your surface cleaner tips are bad / partly plugged. You need to change out surface cleaner tips more often then wand tips. Depending on your tip size they are only 1/2 to 1/3 the size of your wand tip and wear out sooner. -
We Are THINKING about building a Toy Hauler for our larger equipment

No your trucks dont apply to alot of the things that I posted for your info. I mostly am dealing with those. As for your trucks under 14500, Ca law states that you can not add anything to them that is not a factory option. I dont worry about passing smog with my duall pickup, always have passed the smog. Bone stock Chevy with plenty of power, I tow a fully enclosed 48 foot race car trailer fully loaded and dont have any problem towing it. Pulls right on up every pass that I have had to climb from so cal to idaho. O and by the way i didnt have to do anything to my truck frame, that is a real problem with a Dodge truck as I have been told. And i doubt that you would be able to show me any loop holes that would help me as like you stated your trucks are under 14500 lbs, the law for those is different for my trucks that are above 14500.- 48 replies

Well first off, if you think I am here to make "brownie points" No couldnt care less, if you think im here trying to pointout things to you and others that would help them, Then yes. If you think im here to try to out do you, make you look like a blank, or any other thing, Again couldnt careless to try and deface you. Are you acussing me of using your pics, talking to you customers. I have never used your pics or anyone elses for anything, I dont even have a web page to post them on. As for the customer thing, I have never talked to any of your customers for any reason period. I have never to this date been asked to clean a damn garage. So I do not get why you seem to be acussing me of that. As for your idea of bringing porches up to compair what we were talking about is a joke, why dont you just say what you did for the passing of smogs with equipment that does not pass in CA. Again if you have added all the things you have stated to trucks that are below 14500 lb unless it was a fractory option, CA says you canot add them. If anybody passed you they had to do it under the table and take a chance on loosing there smog lic. And to your last paragraph in your post, re read it to yourself, I have not treated you in any derogatory way, if you feel that i did, you are mistaken and I will say im sorry that you took it that way. You stated in that same paragraph, you didnt treat me that way, Re read your first paragraph, you accused me of doing things that i have never done to you. You also stated that you would have taught me, but I would not listen. You have not posted anything that you have done to pass anything, so how am I not listening. Balls in your court now to dig your self out.- 48 replies

Come on now Scott, we are just trying to educate him, lol. Maybe we will maybe we wont. And as for the Jake brake part of what he is saying is true. In Ca there are area that a jake can be used and other parts that it cant. But again you can only add it to your truck if it was a factory option or it is modifing the exhaust and is not smog legal in Ca.- 48 replies

What a joke, Believe me I know more about smog laws then you. Like I said above My main issues where 14500 plus pound chassis. The rule for lighter trucks under 14500 lb is you can not add anything to them that was not factory options. And when you get those trucks smogged, it is a flat joke. you pull in they plug in a computer to the truck to make sure you dont have any engine codes, once you pass that like you said they stomp on the gas pedal and look for smoke for so many seconds, the third and last thing that they do is look for upgrades to your truck that you have added, they are supposed to fail you if you have done anything to your truck that was not a factory option. If you got them passed, great for you, but the smog man was to fail you and he didnt, maybe you should post who they are and we can let the CA smog authority know and see how long they keep there lic. My friend has a smog lic and does my smogs, and I have passed everyone so far. He would not pass your trucks if you brought them to him if you have done everything you say you have. He wouldnt want to pay the fines he would get and wouldnt want to lose his lic for you either, come on done to my area and see if you pass. here is a link you should read. http://www.arb.ca.gov/portable/portable.htm one item you should read is portable fac doc. you will see you are wrong about your 7 days, Portable says cant stay in the same place for 12 months. Alot more info in there you should be up on as well. There is even more in this site that tells you about the tiers and when and what you will have to do to get your stickers and when you have to replace both on tier rating and horse power rating etc. here is some stuff for 14500 lb and above http://www.arb.ca.gov/portable/portable.htm You cant get by this stuff. here is more http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/documents/FSRegSum.pdf this is compliance for PM filters and when our trucks become Junk. Believe me I can go on and on and show you more and more. I have to read these sites and follow these rules more then you will ever have too. YOUR STATEMENT ON JAKES IS WRONG TOO, IT MODIFIES THE EXHAUST. Therefor you again cant add these to your trucks if it was not a factory option, and if you do add them it has to be factory parts, not after market. Are you really going to go back to your 10 year statement too? you posted this in one of your responces, Ya your right, i am kidding about the 10 year mark. But I do not think it's to off since it has been so many years since Cali has done anything to Diesel's for smog. Lastley for this post, Again all you think about is money, If you still feel strongly about how I did pass and why you can not, maybe you should fly up here and I will show you. You could drive with me to an approved Diesel SMOG station, oh pick any station up here in California, for me to smog it again, you pick up all costs, including my time of 2 hours and a nice sit down lunch, Chilli's or TGI Fridays will do. Nothing to expensive. Maybe you should have offered to come here and pass the smog, at no charge to me, and maybe I will offer to buy you lunch when it passes if it will. Jim, I dont really have a problem with you, you will always know more than I will about garage cleaning, But when it comes to these smog laws and or sweeping I will always know more then you ever will. I would never turn down a chance to sit down with you and chat and learn things from you about your type of cleaning and I would be able to have you learn things about my major part of my business. All I am trying to do is educate you about the smog rules that we are all having to deal with.- 48 replies

We Are THINKING about building a Toy Hauler for our larger equipment
rsweeper replied to Jim Gamble's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Well to start, Im going to think that we are talking about trucks that are below 14,500 lbs. There is NO WAY that you passed a smog check, unless you know a smog person and he let you by when he shouldnt! Dosent matter what you bought, If the selling dealer didnt offer it as a extra from the FACTORY it isnt legal in calif. We were able to put chips in that used to be sold that stated they were legal in all 50 states. Not anymore, calif dosent allow them. You could go anywhere and add 5 inch exhaust and it was ok, not anymore. Calif says no. You could go and add jake brakes, which I think is ok, but calif says no more. Again if it wasnt a factory option it isnt allowed period. You stated that, "one of the reasons why our parts were so expensive was because they meet all Ca smog reg for the next 10 or so years" First stop trying to make yourself so big and bad about how much money you spent, we couldnt care less. Second, I sure hope that you got that in writing from whoever you bought the parts from as they now owe you a refund, but I dont think you are going to get it. Alot of thing that we sold were legal at on point in calif, but that has changed, there not legal anymore. Now going with they are above 14500lb trucks. I have a 2001 truck that is completlely stock, bought by me new in CA. Guess what, I have to add a PM filter to it soon as it wont pass new CA smog laws. Once I do that it buys me a couple of years, and then, guess what, It wont pass CA smog laws again. Unless I change the motor out to a 2010 model year engine or newer. So I have to spend apx. on this truck $8000 for a PM filter then what 15,000 on a new motor, but wait, I will also have to buy wiring harness and computer crap to even be able to put it in. I also have a 2007 truck that again I bought new in CA. Guess what, I have to install a PM filter to it in 2014, or it wont pass CA smog laws, For that truck IM told it will be over 12,000 for that filter. CA has screwed us all big time, we cant go back to the dealers as they were made to pass smog then not now. not fair to us, you, or anybody, I agree that if CA wants new smog laws, fine , add new laws, but we should be grand fathered in with what was legal before the new law. So if they want new laws, they start with that date and go forward with that year on, not go back. And now being a smart ass and doing what I told you , you shouldnt do, They first truck cost me 90,000 and the second truck cost me almost 200,000. I havent even got to my other trucks and what they cost me. It dosent really matter what you paid, CA says cant have it anymore, you have to change it, they dont care what it costs or dosent cost, or whoever it might put out of business as they cant afford to do it. Now to get to your Aux engines, Yes there are some loop holes to buy you some time, depending on what you have right now, how old they are depends on what loop holes you are able to use now. Depending on that you can use them for so many hours but it is a total number of hours per year not location. I forget right at this moment but it can be as low as 100 hours per year that you can run it , if it is a tier 0, as you move up in tiers, it goes up a bit for each one. If it is mounted on a trailer or if it is a second engine mounted on a truck to run other equipment, You still have to reg. it with Sacramento and show proof that all mods have been changed to pass smog. Once you do this and only when you do this they will give you a green sticker to mount on the trailer and or truck to show it is ok. If you get caught and you will, you can be givin a ticket and fined big time. Again CA is screwing everybody. And dont think that if you reg it in another state that will get you by. It wont, If that truck or equipment is in CA, it has to pass all smog laws to be here and operate. And if you get pulled over in your 14500lb truck and your stuff isnt smog legal at that time, you will be givin a ticket, and no you wont be able to drive it away either. It will be towed either to a repair shop or out of state. You will not be able to just continue doing what you want. Alot of companys have left CA and will not come into CA anymore because of all of this. Lastly, I want to be the fly on the wall, when you get stopped and try to tell the cop and or the dmv that so in so told me it was ok. Not going to happen, they will laugh in your face and ask you one thing! Do you have it in writting? Thats right your answer will be NO. Bottom line , your trucks, your equipment engines will have to be up to CA smog laws for that model year period. Or it wont be able to use in CA.- 48 replies

We Are THINKING about building a Toy Hauler for our larger equipment
rsweeper replied to Jim Gamble's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Our trucks are upgraded from suspension to 5 inch SS exhaust to the HP to the 50lbs Boost of the Turbos to the Jake brakes to even the new larger braking system. Frame has been " Computer Stressed tested " and re enforced where as needed. All of our trucks are over 450 HP with 673 LBS of torque ( Dyno tested ). One has almost 600 HP. The trucks have double clutches installed as well as the new 6 speed tranys. We spent over 10k per truck for the upgrades. Hope it was worth it. As all the new carb, and smog laws here in Calif. Not sure if you are talking pick up, if you are they wont pass the new smog laws, You cant do anything or add anything that the dealer didnt offer as a up grade when new. You will fail and have to remove everything you added. If you are talking big trucks over 14500 lbs chassi, you are going to have problems there aswell, and depending on year you will have to add PM filters to some and others already need 2010 model year engines put into them. California is looking to screw everybody that they can. If you need the web address to see all the carb info on bigger trucks I can send it to you. Also I forgot to say that aux engines have a major clean up in affect also. You cant just build what you want and run it like you could before. All aux engines above 40 hp have to be tier 3 as of now and i forget the date will have to be tier 4. You must also regester the engines and get a green stick to place one the equipment to be legal, or face fines.- 48 replies

Water weighs apx 8 1/2 lbs per gal. so every 100 gal is apx 850 lbs. so you can figure what weight you would want to carry. Also anything over about 300 gal you want baffles so the water wont slosh to much

Surface Cleaner Arm, NOZZLE TILT
rsweeper replied to 810F250's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
4 turbos in a line wouldnt cover a wide enough area. My guess would be you might get 12 inches out of that. would need more to cover a wide area. Not trying to be a smart ass here but even if you speed up to walking 2 times as fast you are still doing more work. You droped to 20 inches rather then 30 inches. To me I would have left it alone at the 30 inches and may have gotten done sooner then what it took to do it in 20 inch passes. -

Ok I got a idea for you, raise the surface cleaner up off the ground father and install turbo nozzles on it. Atleast that way you are using a 0 deg tip that ossalates and you might be able to angle it a bit more to increse the bar speed. Plus you will have to extend the side skirts so they reach the ground also. If you ask me a whloe lot of work for not a good enough increse in speed or quality. But you seem addament to use a 0 deg tip and try to make it spin faster so I came up with a idea for you.
