First Fences
dennis hollis replied to dennis hollis's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Seymore.. One was in Katy and the other was on the NW Side of Houston. Katy did both sides of new subdivision. One was pine and the other was cedar. They both were about 6 weeks old. I also found out the wind in Houston really kicks up in the winter!:) -

Algae on PT deck
dennis hollis replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
B & R: That looks great. What type of stain/sealer do you use? I notice it's "very shiney" (sp?) does it dry that way also? I love seeing your pictures, always so professional and also always great advise for us novices. denny -
Stain/Sealer Sprayer
dennis hollis replied to RCBill's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Shane...Where do you get the triggers? Also, did you make the wand?? Also, I thought I knew where you were, but had to go to BJ last Thur. and thought you were right beside them, but guess I should have called first, like you suggested to get directions. Denny -
Help on deck
dennis hollis replied to anniered's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I really thought I was watching it as i was applying the stain, but it was HOT here in Texas that day and the next day when I saw it, other than being sick, I used mineral sprits and it worked on the first few spots, but at that moment, it was 100 degrees and right in the sun, so I deceided to wait until the next morning when the sun was off the deck, and I now know..that was a mistake. I was going to go there tomorrow and try xylene, but in reading Beths message, that may not work either.. -
Using Bleach to clean a PT deck
dennis hollis replied to seymore's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Shane..it really looks great. And I don't blame you for getting early. What is your secret using bleach? Do you rinse it off or mix it or??? Also, hope to see you later on this week. Denny Hollis -
Me too....shirleyann04@sbcglobal.net And thanks!! Denny Hollis Houston, Tx

dennis hollis replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
B & R.. What beautiful work! As I am very new to all this, and have yet to do any decks, I'm curious about how you mask everything off. Denny Hollis -

dennis hollis replied to Larry B's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Larry:..I just did my first one also, but no grafitti on it..what was your mix? Also, notice a lot of grass around the fence and I'm still searching for ways to keep mix & stain off the grass..any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks..denny -
cedar fence cleaned
dennis hollis replied to tropical wave's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Beth: I am just starting up a fence/deck staining business in Texas and my first fence was mine..gray like the one in the picture, but I used a 50/50 mix water & bleach. Do I understand that I could use only 12%? Also, about how much Dawn do you use in a 2 gal sprayer?? And what do you use to protect the flower, etc in the picture?? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance denny hollis
