Best Red Dirt Removal from residential homes
aquabob replied to TPExterior Cleaning's question in Residential Pressure Washing
i know what you mean, had a white vinyl today that was washed with usual bleach and soap mix, everything came clean but one end of the house had an orangeish tint to it after washing. only way i know to get it off is to brush it, when you agitate it it breaks the bond between the clay and vinyl and rinses off. oxalic works great for set in stains but spraying it over and entire house could be a pain because of the amout of chem you would need to do that, plus convincing the h.o. to pay for it. you cant really see it untill after the house has been washed, then you have to explain it to them and charge more for the mud removal. most h.o's ive encountered dont like what im telling them about paying more to get the mud off. of course if its obvious before you wash you can put that in the pricing. i usually brush it and apply oxalic afterwards to any clay that has stained in. if anyone knows of a chem other than oxalic id like to know too, oxalic is a pain to mix. having it roll right off would be great. next time i get a job like that i will try muratic and see if it works, i know it works on concrete but never tried it on vinyl or painted wood. -
you can tell if they are illegal by weather or not they speak english. most of them understand and can speak only a few words. maybe not all of them are illegal but most of them are, i cant touch new construction because they work all day for 100.00, i use to do new construction concrete cleaning and charged them 200.00 a lot, driveway and foundation. would do 3 a day, and bill them 600.00. they got a mexican cleaning crew that had a pawnshop pwer and some acid to do the job for 100 a day, they got 3 houses done for 100.00 vs 600.00. same goes for the painters, tile layers, sheetrockers, bricklayers, hardwood floor installers etc etc etc, dont know what i will do this winter, probably take a part time job somewhere. hey, they are here to do the jobs that americans wont do. rest assured that you will see more and more of them entering the pw biz over time.

Why pay a professional wash your house?
aquabob replied to Thad's question in Residential Pressure Washing
dont blame it on h.o's, QVC did it.....hey you can buy a karcher and save money and do it yourself, buy it, after all look at the money saved by doing it yourself...a smart h.o. just goes to show that some people are wiser than others...our beloved customers that have common sense. it sure is great to meet ho's with the smarts to let a pro do it, great biz that lets you meet great people. after all home depot sells lawnmowers so why not buy a pwer to wash the house, drive and deck? -
nice pics john, shouldve seen the black gutters cleaned today without a brush...haha, hey nice pics man.
-
jeff, use deck stripper in a pump up, sodium hydroxide based. i clean stain off vinyl all the time from h.o's spilling it when staining their decks.
-
it has slowed here for me too, washed 3 houses in last two weeks. got lots of price shopper calls, people are looking for the cheapest person they can find. if one guy is 5.00 cheaper they will go with them. ive been through this before it will pass but it sure is aggravating. i dont expect it to pick up much here untill last half of july.

if the truck wash mix was acid, chances are it has etched. try brushing the truck wash mix on the glass and see if it will get the spots off. rinse it off before it dries. i dont know what e plus is, but some alkalines like butyl can mess up glass if it dries on it. best way to clean dried butyl off glass is with more butyl, and scrub and rinse before it dries. try brushing the e-plus on the glass, scrub and rinse before it dries.

glass is a mineral, a transparent mineral. acids will etch the glass. acid (ph wise) will eat itself into the element..(glass). you are better off replacing the glass than trying to fix it since glass is transparent...if it is minor it can be fixed but from my own experience you will spend alot of time trying to fix it...and it still wont be perfect. glass restoration is a specialized area, nothing is as simple as it seems, matter of fact use your search engine. trying to fix it to perfection (is like asking how to put fillings in rotten teeth) ya know, dont even attempt it unless you are hell bent on becoming a glass restoration specialist, in which you wont make a living because there is not much of a demand because glass replacement is the solution. if you really want to fix it, go into the glass replacement business. hope this helps.

lol...thats funny. i almost did that once, following the callers directions without a number on a mailbox, and no one was home. i hooked up, rolled out and was about to start washing and the neighbor yelled "wrong house" from down the street, glad she did or i wouldve did the same thing. it was close, it will probably happen at some point here too...ha ha ha, too funny! hey...thats what you get for giving phone quotes..lol

or you could sell him one of these http://www.airgundepot.com/winchester-1000xs-pellet-rifle.html it will take care of the birds, and its alot of fun to use too!

i agree...ive had some "front only" housewash calls, i try to tell them its best to do the whole thing since the sides and back are dirty, and mildew will grow there too soon. i think its mostly about money and h.o's not wanting to spend or dont have it to spend. ive had some 1/2 mil ho's do the same thing. if i cant talk em into to the right thing i will do what they want, nothing wrong with it i think. as long as they get what they asked for and you do what they asked.
-
i think most home owners (trash can owners) could easily do that themselves. if you are busy with bigger jobs why would you want to fool with 20.00 trash cans. get out and get some big $$$$ jobs. the money you would spend marketing it would be better spent on marketing your regular services, imo.

my r2 hose lasted 5 years, it finally blew up back in jan, 2 100 ft sections one of them broke so i replaced the 100 ft section. lots of memories with that hose.

use an extension pole and brush it on, spray a butyl based gutter cleaner full strength on the brush, lift the pole up and brush it off, you will probably get about 10 ft of it clean then re-apply the chem to the brush and keep going. rinse before it dries. better way is to x-jet it if you can get at least 3:1 ratio, sometimes you will still have to brush them. other metholds are with low volume high pressure electric pumps, or if the gutter is within 15 ft or so apply with a pump up bug sprayer, and brush. make sure the sprayer has viton seals or it wont last too long with butyl. sometimes you can spray on and rinse off, but dont count on it, especially with older painted gutters. sometimes its fast and easy sometimes not, even with best gutter cleaner. dont let the chem dry on glass, it could be permanent. my 02.

High pressure chem pump...
aquabob replied to stantonbrown's question in Residential Pressure Washing
yes..i have that exact pump, i use it for spraying gutter cleaner. the only thing i dont like about it is that it runs continuously, instead of being on demand like a shurflo. it has worked great i have had no probs with it. -
adrian, i called him he says hes got someone to do it. that wouldve been a nice job i like big ones.
-
adrian, did you clean the gutter stains? i cant tell from the pics but im asking because 1 hour 15 min is pretty fast with gutter stain cleaning.
-
that is what it is called here in u.s. too, it is also called "lye".

the paint on the door could have been oxidized (chalky) and when the stripper hit it, it took off some of the oxidized paint. since its aluminum most likley the case especially if the door gets alot of sun. check and see if the paint wipes off with your hand if so wash the door explain the prob...re-paint it, dont buy a new door. its fixable. my 02
