  1. This seems to have been an interesting topic over the years - I'm curious as to what positions are now in 2008. As I'm sure this will spark some controversy concerning the government, let's try to avoid the "thing" about how the government will benefit and try to focus on whether or not our industry would benefit from stricter entry in to the business.
  2. When NC went a little overboard on water restrictions, the PWNC quickly went to work on establishing our presence in North Carolina. A very successful meeting of contractors, supported by Pete Marentay of SunBrite Supply, Mike Baker (x-jet inventor) of Xterior Sales and Diego May of MVP Services, was captured by both print and tv media. Following is a portion of the news exposure we got.
  3. OMG - relief for the unorganized has arrived! I got my "Neat Desk" scanner & software recently and today I got to hook it all up and start putting it to work. This little bugger is THE COOLEST thing since sliced bread. The Neat Company - Neat Desk : PDF Creator Software : Receipt Organize : OCR : NeatCo.com There are two pieces of equipment available. A desk sized version for $400 (the one I got) as well as a portable version for about half the cost. IMO - this is the smartest little thing created for those who don't want to keep 10,001 receipts - or can't keep them organized. It integrates with several softwares (QB included!) This is what one of the screens looks like after it is scanned - it picks up the information, puts it in files and then you get to select the folder where it is stored for future reports or export. IT IS JUST AMAZING!! :lgjump:

  6. 1 - your measurements are off 2 - you are going to lose money at $1.00......we start NO lower than $1.95 for PT and it goes up from there. 3 - TSP? to strip.......you need to study more and practice on someone other than a customer.
  7. It is ridiculous to even think that old wood and new wood would stain the same! You can't even truly guarantee that any wood isn't going to vary slightly simply because of age, exposure and the fact that not all boards are even cut from the same tree!! If you laid 10 people out in the sun.....none of them are going to tan/burn the same. The same theory can be applied to wood.
  8. Seal Once

Depends on how you feel about dealing with it when it looks like crap - whatever happens will be "all your fault". I'm fairly certain that every wood pro on this forum would say NO.
  9. What Is Your Definition Of Success?

Being happy........I'm 100% there with my family.......90% there getting away from this industry :)

  15. What's in your "Bug-Out Bag"?

Nah, I like my bag just the way it is :) Pistol stays loaded - not packing extra ammo - bugs don't like me, plenty of natural antibiotics to be found and hell no to MRE's.....I know where I'd bug to, plenty plenty of food to be found :)
  16. What's in your "Bug-Out Bag"?

Bathing suit, cooler, shot glass, bottle opener, cowboy hat, flip flops (well actually, those just stay on my feet all the time), music if possible, pistol.

  18. How to remove rust stains on vinyl siding

Mike....couple of things. 1 - Welcome to TGS! 2 - Please add a signature - house rules. 3 - Do a search for Rust on Vinyl - you will find your answers....or scroll to the bottom of this page after reading my post and you'll probably get the whole list of topics anyway.
  19. How do you guys price Brick homes compared to vinyl?

Cleaning aged brick is really no different than washing anything else....no reason to make it an "add-on" IMO. New brick is a completely different story.

  21. My first Deck

I'm sorry - but yes, it was bad. My husband's company is in North Carolina and we, like Beth & Rod, tend to specialize in wood. It's just scary to see sometimes what the "competition" is. Glad you're here to learn properly. It helps us all in the long run. Also - Roger has trained quite a few contractors on wood care. Please don't hesitate to call him. 336-516-6139
