  1. We approach our one price for the exact reasons that Ron listed. From a housewife's view (mine) if I can tell someone that I have something, I will. Breaking out every detail opens a negotiating can of worms that we're not interested in. Our pricing in all inclusive - our customers trust that it's fair and if someone doesn't, the other guy can have them :) Celeste
  2. couple of questions before tomorrow

Randy - we have NMD80 here if you want to drive over? Celeste
  3. WTW tips

Stick with the 200 - and don't reapply if you think it's sinking in alot. Made that mistake earlier this year. 200 period :) Celeste
  4. Stripper ?

    HD-80 from Extreme Solutions. Celeste
  5. Usually when you have two woods, they're not looking for it to match - instant two tone.
  6. Different wood - it's an Ipe & Cedar deck.
  7. It's mildew! Housewash mix should handle it just fine. Celeste
  8. Decks can be stained in the same day under optimal circumstances - stripping or cleaning that may cause fuzzies don't fall into the optimal circumstances category :) The point of WTW is that the woods moisture content can be considerably higher than others, ie, on that 2nd day when you want to stain and it rains that morning, get rid of the standing puddles and go for it or new wood that can be lightly cleaned can be stained in the same day.
  9. Hmmm....isn't that a whole different debate waiting to happen???
  10. We've been contacted by a homeowner in Walton, NJ looking for someone to wash a vinyl sided house. Anyone in this area, please call ASAP :) 336-261-3051 Celeste
  11. The Jim Carroll

Hey Jim!!!! Nice to see you around again :) Celeste
  12. I Need Help....

We just finished a recoloring & sealing job....turns out the color was NOT all the way through. Quite an experience but the results are very nice :) . First shot is what the patio looked like. The second is the finished project. Celeste
  13. Heck I ordered this morning for stuff for a job next week - it's going to beat us to the jobsite :) Celeste
  14. Homemade Downstreaming/X-Jet

Excuse me if I sound like a complete b*tch, but how are you going to ask a forum full of professionals who make a good living with professional equipment, many with some serious serious educational degrees and such why we would choose to spend our hard earned money on something that could be built using cheap local hardware piecey-parts? We're not talking about hobbies here - your equipment is your livelihood. You want to trust your mortgage payment to a dollar tree part?
  15. Order's in :) These little fellas get used on purple heart next week! Celeste
  16. Dilemma

See, you got worried and all worked up :) You have shown that you do a good service with your PM's. You should worry less and be more confident in yourself & company - you'll live longer to enjoy your family if you do. Celeste
  17. Dilemma

Growing pains.....we all have them. Bite the bullet and don't fight it. Set up another rig and crew and hit the bank :) Celeste
  18. Our reps discourage the FPSP on older PT wood - explanation was that the product contains the penetrol and older wood would make the coverage rate horrible (ie 50 sq ft/gallon) Coverage is better on hardwoods (for the obvious reason of lack of penetration) Bottom line, it is easy to strip :) One other issue - it takes a considerable amount of time to cure so there is a possibility of removal on hardwoods until it actually cures completely. Celeste
  19. Long story but the nutshell version, contractor started staining the decks - didn't apply right - got fired. Turns out the stain was custom tinted (purple) to the point that virtually all of the grain was hidden. We were called in :) Our tests of the "un custom tinted" product looked like muddy water. Celeste
  20. We stripped FloodPro Supreme performance at less than 30 days with very little resistance using their stripper/cleaner (sodium hydroxide based). The larger problem was neutralizing & rinsing their product. Stuff did not want to neutralize. Application with FPSP is much more involved (on hardwoods) than other stains - way too much touching of the wood - plan to charge double for application as this is not a wet on wet as we know it. Must have 30 mins - 1 hour between coats (PITA). They swear 2 years + on hardwoods though. We'll know for certain in November of '09 unless it's poopy next fall when we go back to clean. We've applied FPSP on Ipe (not our choice). It was a little more opaque than we like on this wood but the project still looked quite beautiful when finished. We did test boards with Purple Heart and the wood looked like it had muddy water on it - not pretty at all. Celeste
  21. Back of a pickup

The bed of Roger's truck is a NIGHTMARE! Stain, chems, extensions, scrapers, buckets, Grizzley cans, Mtn Dew bottles, tools, tool box, gas cans.....there's no telling. I am thankful for a long bed truck and an open trailer! I can't imagine what an enclosed would turn into! Celeste
  22. Dilemma

Used considering your plan to "grow" out of it eventually - There are some vans out there (Sprinters & E350?) that are plenty big.....just ask Beth & Rod - they swear by their sprinter! Celeste
  23. We have done large jobs in the Charleston area.....$2.00 is far too low in our experience and that is using the professional Flood stains, not consumer grade. Celeste
  24. Thing is, with the house on the market, a lien would work just fine. The probability of not getting paid would change dramatically if they decided not to move BUT, if that were to be the case and no sale happened, chances would be good on a refi, which again, would work toward your being paid eventually. Celeste
  25. I can't even begin to elaborate on any of the suggestions that have been made already - I just have to thank you for the "giggle of the day". I think you were spot-on with what you did. Not many have the brass ones to be that blunt :) Well, maybe one idea.....work out a deal with the REALTOR. He already knows you know your stuff. Do something on some of his other properties and let him know that if he gets you say, 5 other paying properties (FIRST) then maybe you could rework a better price for the fence, since he's your daughters friend's dad.
