  1. Hmmm...

With that kind of horn blowing......what else could it possibly be? Wonder how much that type of stuff costs to do? Celeste
  2. Bartering services

We're bartering with some of our local contractors for work to be done at our home in exchange for work to be done at theirs :) This works nicely for "home repairs" that are a bit over our heads or that we are not equipped to do in a time/cost effective manner. I may also be doing some showroom work that may be exchanged for materials (for those home repairs that we can handle!) <---This one will work very nicely as the exposure we will get could be priceless! Celeste
  3. 15 Gallon Container

Dry cleaners are also another place to look. Our SH supplier sold us a few when we needed larger quantities - I'm betting we paid a premium at the time but they've certainly paid for themselves (plus he delivered so that helped as well!) Celeste
  4. Is one employee worth it?

We have been completely unsuccessful with keeping employees for more than several months....seems the honeymoon ends and they lose interest in keeping up the initial drive that made them wonderful! Add to that the increase in WC premium (based on payroll), and all of the taxes to pay (it's worse than an additional paycheck). And don't even ask about what happens if you forget to do the stupid reports one quarter!!!!! Guess we're just going to let our company own us for a little while longer! Celeste
  5. Calling Shade Tree Vets!

Well, we have PUPPIES! Didn't think they were coming for another week or so and I am as unprepared as possible. Things are not going well either. 1) Mom had them under the deck outside in the mud - not one within 8 ft of the other so there I was crawling around in the mud under the deck with both parents in my face trying to retrieve squalling puppies - retrieved 3 successfully. 2) Going after the 4th (the largest male) Mom got there first and tried to EAT him! (He didn't make it by the way) 3) Got the other three inside, cleaned up and warming (they're still squalling) 4) Get Mom in to clean her up so she can join them. 5) Take Mom to puppies and she proceeds to try to EAT THEM! Help Me! I am now going to have to be mama dog - Roger is off to PetSmart to get bottles, formula and talk to the vet. Anyone ever experienced bottle raising a litter of puppies - I NEED SUPPORT! Celeste
  6. Taking on a Partner

Don't do it.........just narrowly escaped a situation recently and are sooooo glad. Celeste
  7. Calling Shade Tree Vets!

Puppies are now 3 weeks - quite active little boogers. We're trying to keep the kids from getting attached to them.......do you think I might have a little trouble doing that though? I'll post some more recent pics tomorrow in case someone wants one of these cuties :)
  8. Portable Light Cart

Hey Alan.......why don't you put one of those monster light bars on top of your truck and point it in the direction of where you're working? :) I lit up a ballfield with the lights on my Jeep before :) Celeste
  9. Thee Grime Scene...for Southeners...

That was hilarious - anyone notice what their "southern name" was? Carolina ProWarsh LOL Celeste
  10. Are you a Democrat, Republican or Redneck?

    Redneck checkin' in ;)
  11. Haw River is a sh*t hole - I don't even drive through that sorry excuse for a town therefore I will still claim NO KNOWLEDGE of "munchkintown". Much as it embarasses me to admit it, I was brought up a country club debutante snob - I was sheltered from things for years. I was never exposed to other races until I was in 7th grade! I actually find it hilarious that there is something over on that side of the river that I'd never heard about :) You'll have to keep your crow, Jon :) Celeste PS - I liked your avatar better when it was my porch!

  13. We've discussed what makes a professional, but what makes one an EXPERT in a particular field? And WHO makes the determination that one is an EXPERT - yourself, a supplier, an association, a school? Thoughts?
  14. Well, they got me...

Roger got locked up last year as well.....we also donate services for silent auctions that this group does. If ever there was an organization that wasn't self serving and could show where everything goes and what the benefits are, MDA is it :) Celeste
  15. Well, they got me...

C'mon guys........cough up a little tax deduction. This is such a worthy worthy cause. Most of us on here have been remarkably blessed with healthy beautiful children....... if we all help out in a small way, so many of these other precious children can be helped. Celeste
  16. Simple Cherry Housewash Mix

Downstream :) Love the SC also! Celeste
  17. Happy Birthday Celeste!!

Thanks everyone :) Sorry Michael, we're going to have to miss meeting everyone at this one - somehow the thought of leaving 12 dogs inside unsupervised is forcing us to stay home (that and some jobs we have to finish up!) Celeste
  18. Yorkstone clean UK

    Looks beautiful Roger :) Celeste
  19. Geography project

Well, we found another application for the concrete :) Hannah needed a 3D map for her social studies class......we found an alternative to the old playdoh route!
  20. Geography project

Ugh my bad....continent. She actually can name all of the countries and the majority of capitals (I sure couldn't) and had to so we could make sure we had all of the flags - I was quite proud of her :) Report from school was that teachers thought it was "awesome"! Celeste
  21. I'll see your railing photo and raise you one with a butterfly :) Here's a finished shot of a railing stripped with HD80, neutralized with Citralic and finished with Wood Tux Wet.
  22. Go check out the Gallery at www.seedirtrun.com Large percentage of their work is with Wood Tux. We have several on our site as well - www.carolinaprowash.com . Reed Smith (sorry, his website is escaping me at the moment) has some beautiful work with Ready Seal on it - that's his gazebo on their brochure I believe. You can also search through the wood forums here to see pictures that are posted for these stains. Celeste PS - Could you fill out your signature please :)
  23. Weapons for protection

I think from a standpoint of ease to grab & use, the pepper spray/mace/ whatever ouchy stuff comes from those cans on your belt is going to be your best bet. Too many folks killed by their own guns....taser/stun gun could prove bad for you as well. You must must must consider what will happen if they get their hands on your weapon before you do. If your x-jet is on though, chems to the face would be pretty effective I would think......or grab the QC at your gun, disconnect and swing that puppy from the x-jet end......whack upside the head with the gun end! Celeste
  24. Geography project

It's just a freehand outline of the country (I'm pretty certain that it's quite off too!) We did have fun making the little mountain range. I think Miss Hannah did a nice job on coloring. Hopefully she will get a good grade on it - I know we won't be able to pass this one down to the son though. Maybe for him Roger will take the wood route :) Celeste
  25. Weapons for protection

I'm thinking that they make that zero degree tip for something. Celeste
