Responses to PWNA Press Release dated Sept.14th - split thread
Celeste replied to M Hinderliter's topic in Business Topics & Tips
As I stated previously, a simple search of public record with the State of Maryland shows filed documentation that Henry's wife incorporated the company that is the registered owner of SunBrite Supply of Maryland, filed a DBA for said facility. Henry put out a press release that he is teaching the PWNA courses - which are taught by Alliance. He is on the BOD. Where is the question? Celeste -

But will it be good Ron? After 13+ years of existance, and mind you we've only been members for 3, I haven't seen anything change for the better in the public recognition category. Celeste -

Recognized by whom has always been a popular question. Given the behavior of the "higher ups" lately, maybe being unrecognized by the general public (ie homeowners) is becoming a blessing in disguise. Celeste -
I suggested Wesley for alternatives :) Celeste

Henry personally does not own the store, however, his wife's corporation does. A small quickie search of public records shows that for a fact. Celeste -

It is my understanding that during the courses (of which I have never attended BTW) the instructors do not use name brands during instruction, only the chemical name. BUT, if the class is held through a SunBrite store, what do you think happens after the class? Celeste -

Check your September issue of Cleaner Times - the PWNA article was about roof cleaning and I'm certain that Beth insured that what was in the article was the "approved" method by the PWNA. Celeste -

This was from a press release I got recently: Henry Bockman was just selected as one of the instructors for the Power Washers of North America's training and certification program. Bockman will become one of the instructors for the Power Wash 101 and the House, Roof, & Lo-Rise Building Cleaning course. The goal of this opportunity is to create a training video showcasing proper house washing techniques to be used in the PWNA's training and certification program. This new course will train pressure washing companies all over the Country on the proper techniques for exterior house washing, building cleaning and roof cleaning methods approved by the Power Washers of North America. Alliance holds the contract for those "PWNA" courses. Celeste -

Henry is now teaching for Alliance as well - since they (Alliance) are clearly not a non-profit, he gets monetary compensation from a for-profit company benefitting from a contract awarded to (a BOD member owner) of a non-profit organization. I know a large number of members have never accepted those awards as ethical behavior. Celeste -

The By-Laws have changed at will in the past year or so....several changes not even mentioned to the general membership. What does that tell you? Celeste -
Wood Restoration Photo Contest
Celeste replied to Russell Cissell's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Here is a pre-stained and a finished shot of a large project we are currently working on. This wood is Purpleheart. The finish is WTW. (Stay tuned for this project in its own thread next month!) -
Tracy, Product naming is a lovely perk on this bbs - mention names! mention names! Celeste

We've not had good longevity with Aussie Oil. I believe Paul Dinos (ProClean) is putting WTW on all of his hardwoods now. We are as well but it's just gone down this year. Celeste -

I can't reach!
Celeste replied to ACSTravis's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You can rent adjustable scaffolding - would allow for more lateral movement then ladders although you'd still likely need some longer lances. If you do opt for the ladders, I'd be tied off to the deck :) Celeste -

Okay - one solid rule - I don't host round tables at Hooters. I prefer to use a facility with lunch catered in :) Less distraction. Celeste

Ron I'm possibly working on one in mid November - got any dates available to make an appearance :) Celeste

No - here if you want to do business in a certain town, city or municipality, you pay....doesn't matter what the job is. We had to get a license to clean the Post Office in Elon and we did it for free during our CAA project last year. It's a privilege license, nothing more. Celeste
