We've attended several and hosted one. Firm believer here that when you can meet and network with others in your industry it will always help you in one way or another. We've met folks that we'd not meet otherwise - we've learned things because of demonstrations - we've been introduced into areas that may not have been on our list of ideas for business expansion - definitely gotten job leads and found other contractors that we'd happily refer work to and have referred work to us. It's amazing who you get to meet just trying to set one up as well! Celeste

So, okay, is the BOD or who ever made the decision since the members never get input, deciding that having one person (Regina who was great IMO) address the members, etc... a bad idea??????? Did they make a mistake? What happens to the office that the PWNA had in NJ? Celeste -

Phillip, if you get too "unbusy", you can come up to NC and sort through my paperwork to tell me how bad we're probably doing! Celeste

This deck was stained last year with Aussie Oil, which, was gone at 9-10 months. This homeowner was happy to let us use his deck as a test project between two products. Prior to staining we did put the two stains side by side on a board. The results dictated that we needed to change our test strategy (testing is one thing, making someone's deck look silly is quite another!) The diagonal deck boards were stained with Wood Tux Wet, 50/50 with water, brushed on and hand ragged. The frame boards were stained with FloodPro Supreme Performance Natural. The same application technique was used, however, those boards were treated twice. End result was a two-tone effect. We'll be checking this deck monthly to see how the FloodPro holds up next to the Wood Tux Wet.

Ipe test project
Celeste replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The Flood product can be applied at a slightly higher moisture content than some other products that require lower ones. We have so enjoyed being able to stay on schedule with the wet wood ability......I was just pointing out that the Flood product can be used earlier than some others but not as quickly as WTW. This customer was hilarious about being a test subject - he basically looked at it as "How bad can it be?" since the Aussie oil was poof gone at 9-10 mos. And after the test board (which again, was literally from his deck - we had to replace it because it was split) results, we opted to do the testing differently. Celeste -

Last winter working new construction interiors (no heat - ugh) we kept something called Cold-eze I think.....it's a pill-like thing that you let melt in your mouth. Like TheraFlu, tastes like ass but worked for us. Celeste

Ipe test project
Celeste replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That is a section of the deck board that we had to replace. Turns out that this floor is not constructed of the usual 5/4 decking but the thinner handrail type boards (guy has a million joists underneath). It is all Ipe boards though and not paneling. Celeste -
Squeeky - I think I had a message from you but my phone ate it! Have a variety of jobs next week (flatwork, new brick, cleaning old wood, stripping). You should come up....we have lots of stuff you can "test" drive, ie, chems, downstreamer vs x-jet (will be using both next week), got a pitchwitch (buried somewhere in the garage), various extensions (noodle, Magnum, Coress), different surface cleaners (with wheelies & without) Also three different trailer units. Hands on stuff is a great way to evaluate :) Celeste

I guess we've been lucky so far (as I knock fiercely on my wooden desk) and not had an accident. BUT, this thread is a great way to show just why we carry INSURANCE!!!! Celeste -

Ipe test project

This is a photo of the test board prior to staining the deck. The difference in this and the deck is the deck only received 2 applications of FloodPro Supreme while the test board took FOUR (4). Given that 4 coats of this product went on Ipe, I would conclude on this wood that the FloodPro Supreme Performance does indeed penetrate Ipe, which is a good thing, however.......4 coats is going to be pretty bad coverage and much more labor intensive. Moisture content is still a factor although 18% is better to look for than 12-15%. -
You were grossly underpriced. Celeste

Some of that looks awfully sporadic to be weather related. I've seen mortar color shifts simply due to mixing. As for the brick color, we've also experienced the masons just screwing up and literally putting up the wrong brick or putting the wrong face outward. I'm guessing the brick has not been cleaned (but neater masons). If that's the case, all may even out when washed. There's a picture on our website where there is a very obvious line between and older lay and a newer one but the washing evened it out. Celeste

Again, if you want to call me, I can hook you up with my agent who will be able to answer any questions you have :) Celeste

How much liability insurance do you carry?
Celeste replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Documents, Forms & Proofs
Call me - my agent, although located in Burlington is GREAT! But if you want to hunt an agent more local to you - our carrier is Western World, written through TAPCO. I also hear Erie will write coverage for pressure washers. Don't even bother calling State Farm - they hate us in this state. Celeste -
