My new rig was not what I ordered !
Celeste replied to ken wiggins's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Just FYI for you others toward the coast of North Carolina. Glenn at Ace Cleaning aka www.pitchwitch.com sells machines, chemicals, accessories and service. We've been dealing with Glenn since we've been in business and he has never done us wrong. Celeste -
Dry time before staining?
Celeste replied to ProVolley9's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That will depend on if it was just a cleaning or if it was a strip and that leads into how severe a strip :) It also depends on the stain you will be applying. Some stains require a 12 - 15% moisture content, some can be higher. If you don't use a moisture meter (and there are plenty of "eyeball" pros here) I would think that 2 days of that weather should put you in a safe range. Celeste -

Cabot's SPF
Celeste replied to PatrickM's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
If you are determined to use the acrylic stuff, I can at least attest to two years performance so far of the Flood Spa & Deck. We have it on a deck and an arbor (in our back yard) and the finish is flawless except for the bird doo doo. We are watching it but since it still looks so nice, we're not willing to try a strip yet. That is a one day process but you need to charge accordingly for product. Celeste -
Ugh, that's scary Larry - we've actually had an offender re-arrested for scaring my kids at a bus stop. Our state has its own registry as well. Celeste

What makes a certification worth the $$$ to you?
Celeste replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
How about those who misrepresent certification? We don't "overblow" our certifications, we use them when needed but how about those who make claims on certifications that they don't have? Seems that those would make the whole trying to realistically use your certs to your advantage a mute point. -
I think this is artillery fungus, what do you think?
Celeste replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
You can see it much more easily on light colored surfaces. It will attach itself to anything it hits, house, car, lawn furniture. It can also get INTO your home. Celeste -
I think this is artillery fungus, what do you think?
Celeste replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Matt, rest assured, you will find it eventually - our area has a propensity for it, although landscapers are coming around :) We've been told that there is an acid that will remove it, however, we haven't found a homeowner yet that wanted to pay for that type of cleaning. If it is bug poop, you will be able to scratch it off with a rag (can't stand the thought of poop under my nails!) and there should not be a stain left underneath. If it is artillery fungus in the first 10-14 days, you may have no residual discoloration, however, if it has been on, you will be able to scratch off the top black speck but there will be a brownish stain left on the vinyl - that is pretty impossible to remove. We tell the homeowners about the stuff, provide printed literature, do as Beth & Rod suggested as far as promises made, offer to do the acid test then strongly suggest they take the next move which is to get rid of the mulch, treat the area and then use a different ground cover. Lou, it may depend on how "HD" is used in the sentence! HD-80 is a wood care product, yes. Often "HD" is used in a different context, indicating a chemical from Home Depot. Celeste

Most overlay products are a cementious product that is sprayed or troweled down to create the texture. Coloring varies as some colors may be integrated into the product, others are added after. The sealer will seal in those colors. Celeste

I use Eurostone & Techstone systems - got my training at Pure Texture. I'll have a project to post in the next couple of weeks :) I'm overlaying the entire shop floor as well as adding his logo - in a tattoo parlor! Celeste

Thank you John. There are plenty of lowball homeowners to keep the lowball contractors busy. I MUCH prefer to close the deals on the homeowners who want quality and have no problem paying for it. Celeste
