  3. Look out Scott - you do consultations and you're gonna have deck jobs chasing you! Nice work :) Celeste Idea! See if the high school will give you ad space or put a thank you to Karvonen Pro Clean in their programs or on the squishy seat things for your consultation fee :)
  4. gotta cool car??

Roger has a 1968 RS SS Camaro that he's restoring - he'd probably part with me before his car though! Celeste
  5. gotta cool car??

I have a 1973 convertible MGB (red now but not factory color) - comes with another 1974 for piecy-parts if you are remotely interested in a British toy :) Celeste
  6. Customer complaint

You most definitely must go touch up his paint. I'm sure that technically somewhere in someone's mind you trespassed, solicited, defaced personal property or any of a number of other prosecutable offenses. Cover your rear and reputation and beat feet back over - make a professional impression on the homeowner. Celeste Celeste
  7. Beautiful job Ken - I bet your bank account was happier than your backside (you obviously worked that off on that job!) Celeste
  8. OOoops - my bad !:lgbonk:
  9. Hey, I saw on CSI that the maids put cedar chips in bleach to kill the scent......it'd even match the woody smell :) Celeste
  10. Beth and Rod?

NNOOOOOOOO - I like my high score in Spank the Monkey :) Celeste
  11. How do you like your Turkey?

Deep Fried on a mountain top! Can't wait until Thanksgiving vacation this year :) Celeste
  12. Nasty nasty grout

Hi Adrian - I actually feel kind dumb for not trying that yet! I've cleaned with the regular bleach but not done the "pen target" thing! Celeste
  13. Nasty nasty grout

Thanks Ryan - we did some deck/fence work for a Zep Rep here - I'll be he'd have something in his little goodie kit we could try! Celeste
  14. Nasty nasty grout

No, I actually put down a thin cementous product and tape in patterns to stain. I'm not using acids for staining existing concrete surfaces for the most part, too unpredictable - I would acid stain my system if I wanted that effect. Celeste
  15. Nasty nasty grout

Although, I suppose if I totally ruin them, there's always the overlay work I'm doing! Celeste
  16. Nasty nasty grout

That was my chief concern......these are Ooooold tiles, ceramic glazed, very shiny and I wasn't sure what the oxalic might do to that. I really really don't want to regrout!! Celeste
  17. Nasty nasty grout

I actually do have one of those little "steam buggy" things and it didn't do the trick either. This grout is probably the same grout that was put in in 1929 and it's likely never been properly sealed. I'm afraid that it's gross through and through - I'm just really not interested in taking it all out and redoing it completely. Celeste
  18. What should an Org do for you?

So, in an effort to get this back to the topic at hand, poll results are showing good responses on things that one would like to see from a contractor's organization. I would also like to see a place that would provide state specific information about requirements of this profession in each state, ie, licensing, education, etc... (which I guess might fall under a FAQ in legal) as well as updates on legislation that may affect us in the industry. Celeste
  19. What should an Org do for you?

I have to agree with Matthew that much of the "As the PWNA Turns" should not be held in public view. It is more counterproductive for members and BOD to spend time defending than it is productive when it comes to the time spent pouring out your emotions over and over and over. My personal opinion (and I'm ducking under a chair as I type this) is that the membership should discuss moves and future plans within the org and let those who have not joined make their own decision as to whether or not to join based on announcements that are made in the PWNA forums or in Water Works. Celeste (peeking out from under the desk)
  20. Defy?

Oh this is going to get fun! There are multiple contractors here with as many opinions as to what stain is going to be the best. We have used both - from an applicator perspective, we found that Ready Seal & Wood Defender to be easier to apply as no back brushing is necessary. The Wood Tux line has a definite advantage in moister conditions as Ready Seal & Wood Defender require a dryer wood. We have gotten excellent coverage rates with all products and have personally have not had the best longevity with Ready Seal BUT are also willing to say that the cause for this MAY have been newbie error at that time - not sure but the possibilty is there. The Wood Tux has a wonderful pigment system and will be lighter if applied on wet wood. Ready Seal & Wood Defender offer pre-mixed tones. Celeste
  21. There really are some circumstances that require the use of the most aggressive mildew killer method - bleach is good for that and if properly applied in the correct dilution, it isn't going to cause so much damage that it will be worse than the mildew spores not being eradicated. AAACCCKKKK - did that come out of my mouth!!!!!! Celeste
  22. Stain Brands

Degraff - We use it but not for everything....we just applied it to about 18000 sq ft of cedar shake roofs. We like the way it applies & cleans up. So far, we've had no problems with it in any aspect.....we'll see how it looks over time :) We've just finished a pine siding restoration job with Wood Tux. We also like it very very much - look for pictures tonight (when I get off dial up!) Celeste
  23. Log house

Log homes come with several different challenges than decks or perhaps barns.....leakage being one huge one! Celeste
