Are you looking for specific wording on a fax cover - the part about if you receive this in error stuff?

You neutralize yourself the same way you neutralize wood!!!!!!!!!!! Oxalic acid has it's own set of side effects....sterilization being one of them. If it's an acid that it takes to neutralize the chemical on you - maybe try a Coke or Pepsi.

In North Carolina, they whack everyone for ANY out of state purchases, whether internet or just when you go on vacation. You either cough up receipts for whatever you did or you pay a percentage of your income for out of state purchases. Celeste

Concerns with stripping over the Lake
Celeste replied to sturgisjr's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Just to make sure you're not putting the cart before the horse here - have you done a test area to see what kind of stripping difficulty you are going to have? You mentioned LEAD - how old is this paint? If it's older than 1978, you may have lead issues which are an ENTIRELY different animal than just stripping paint. That is a nightmare from the work GO. I would hope that your paint is not that old. But let's say that it is not lead based and that you've tested and removal is going to go fine. I think you should be fine doing the tarps as you have indicated. Does the land slope slightly to the water or drop. You could potentially berm around the bottom to catch any running water that escaped your tarping system. If there's grass down there, you're going to have to keep it wet in order not to kill what's there and in doing so, you will be further diluting your chemicals. Catching the paint - I read somewhere where someone used landscaping fabric to catch all the paint chippies that came off - it's relatively inexpensive and the water will continue to flow through, leaving the grigglies behind then just roll up and throw away. Good luck on this one - got any pics yet? Celeste -
deck cleaning in wet conditions
Celeste replied to tropical wave's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yes drizzle, water falling from the sky, drizzle aka rain. My mother did teach me to come in out of it when it was too much. Didn't realize I needed to qualify the amount of water falling since he said drizzle in the first post. -
The stipper cream will work just fine. The SafeRestore is a great product for restoring brick, remove rust without the bleach affect, but it want strip paint. Roger

deck cleaning in wet conditions

We (I say we, but it's Roger) work in the rain all the time so long as there's no lightening within about 10 miles. You have to watch your chems since you're dwell time is altered by the additional water but other than that, yep - stuff stays rinsed nicely :) It's doable. Celeste -
I agree with Ryan, this is a great marketing opportunity for you. If you have the chance to get more business from it, price it accordingly - don't go out of pocket of course, but if the railings are in great shape, do the floor to make it a two-tone project. Do you know what's on the floor - if it was done last year and is fading, it is possible that you could do a light percarb and do a maintenance type application, maybe in a shade or so darker if you can't match it exactly, again with the two tone effect.

Biz Black Eye
Celeste replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Let's turn the tables here for a moment, since we're talking about checking references, insurance, professionalism, etc..... Beth and I both are women. We call on clients. Do we now have a responsibility to check our clients out so that when we go to quote a job, Joe Homeowner, who looks like a decent guy but is really a serial rapist, doesn't rape and kill us in his backyard? Violent crime happens everywhere to anyone. The responsibility lies TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY with the perp. That woman was a victim period. I believe I've read somewhere that he was an illegal - where the hell's the government's responsibility mentioned in this issue? -
Someone define that please and I'll give it a shot! Happy Mother's Day!

Labor For Learning Liability Issues
Celeste replied to PressurePros's topic in Business Topics & Tips
We do them as subcontractors......if they receive any monetary compensation, they will get 1099'd at the end of the year provided they've received over $600. If someone sticks around long enough to make $600 with us as a trainee, we'd probably keep them :) For guys that already have insurance, you just have to get them to do a Certificate of insurance same as you do for your client, they just put your name in the box as the insured. Now, if you're using another company, if they don't carry Worker's Comp and you pay them, even as a sub - it will affect your payroll which does increase your WC premium. Celeste -
Mel, have you tried a 25 degree tip and about 160 degree water. It works for me, it gets under the gum and melt and lifts it up.I will have to try the turbo and see if it is faster. Roger

Here is a 12 year old deck that we stripped last week and staind today with Wood Tux.

F-18 is a stripper - if you are only removing mold and mildew, you can use something far less aggressive. If you have a finish to remove that has mold & mildew, then yes it will. If you want to keep your finish intact and get rid of the mold and mildew - don't go with the stripper :) A sodium percarbonate cleaner will handle that nicely. Now for the bleach guys........................

I know a remote shut off would have come in handy when something close to our pump blew while we were using hot water last year - had to reach through some pretty warm water to get to the key! And it really is hard to talk over all that racket.

The new Wood Tux
Celeste replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yes, it was a second story with no access from outside. The homeowner moved everything inside but a table that just traveled around the deck. Didn't have to tape anything during the strip or stain. The strip was really easy as the finish was 11 years old - railings only needed washing, then on with the Wood Tux Wet. Homeowner is happy as pig in muck :) Celeste -
Look at it this way you get what you pay for. Dirt killers are rotomax are just two of the good ones. The Rotomax you can go from a stream to the full rotation, it has a smaller circle than most. Both are rebuildable. The Dirt killer come in a couple differant body sizes. Make sure you put a inline filter on it, because dirt will stop it from working. Roger

The new Wood Tux
Celeste replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
What do you think we should have gotten for it? I prefer not to post our actual invoice totals but we got about twice what you indicated for that deck (and we didn't have to do those rails either) Celeste
