  1. Synthetic oil?

I should have been more clear in my original post. I was asking about ND for the pump.
  2. This may not be the appropriate forum, so if a mod. wants to move it, go ahead... A friend of mine has a great deal on an E-150 work van. I am considering buying it, but I am a little skeptical about using it to work out of. Does anyone have van set-ups that you could post pics of? How could I manage my chem. and gasoline storage? How could I secure a skid unit?
  3. Anyone working out of a van?

Beth, By looking at pics of the Sprinter, it looks like a 3/4 ton van with a high roof. Is that correct? Is the high roof what makes it so great? What kind of setup/equipment do you have in it? How is it mounted? Do you have equipment all the way up to the rear of the front seats, or is there room for additional passengers?
  4. Anyone working out of a van?

He just informed me that it's and Econoline XL, so that will definitely help. I think the space will be OK, but I just can't picture a good way to secure equipment and hosereels.
  5. What's wrong with this guy ? ....

John, Do you run into may "lowballers" in our area? I can't say that I have. I know of one guy that runs a $79 house wash ad, that's about it. Most of the rigs I see around here look like they are pretty professional. Decks on the other hand, are a different story. It seems like customers don't really care. You show them pictures of decks that are damaged by lack of maintenance and they still balk at your price. I've gotten pretty good at weeding the cheap ones out over the phone, so at least I'm not wasting my time as much.
  6. A customer called me yesterday and wants Sikkens Cetol applied to his deck. He said that he did his front porch, but he didn't want to do his deck because it was such a pain in the a$$. He said that the manufacturer states that it takes 2 coats and it must be brushed on. I am not sure yet which Cetol it is, but I looked on their website and they mention spraying as an acceptable application method for Cetol. I have personally never applied any Cetol. Does anyone have any advice that needs to be followed when applying Cetol with an airless?
  7. Thanks for all the advice that I'm sure can't be found on the back of the can. I'm going to find out today which Sikkens it is. So is the majority against applying with an airless?
  8. This unit has been setting for about 3 weeks. When I started it at the job for the first time, it would only run with the choke on. While messing with the choke, I realized that I had not attached a gun to the pressure hose, so I turned the machine off. It was running for about 20 seconds. When I attempted to start it (pull start), it wouldn't start. The plug looks OK. I pulled the air filter housing off to make sure the choke/throttle linkage was OK. When I pull the air filter, it had a small amount of motor oil on it, and it looked like motor oil may have been in the carb. Any thoughts?
  9. Your right, I would normally take it somewhere for repair, but I figured that I would never find such a great deal on a new engine, so I went ahead and bought at new one.
  10. After turning it off when it only ran choked, it never started back. That's why I thought it may something other than carb. I guess I'll pull the bowl off and see what's going on in there. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
  11. Although the hyperlink doesn't state it, this is a Command Pro. It has the exact same spec no. that my current engine has. Just out of curiosity, how many hours is everyone getting out of their small engines?
  12. I have decided to replace the engine. This deal was just too good to pass up. Small Engine Warehouse: CH15T-44535 - Kohler Engine 15 HP Command OHV Horizontal 1 x3 5 Keyed Shaft Recoil Start Muffler Fuel Tank I'll just wait till the off season and work on the old one and make a back up machine out of it.
  13. I tried a new plug today, with no success. I pulled the rope with the plug out of the head, but stuck in the plug boot. It appeared that the spark was pretty weak. I'll take a look at the coil. What is a symptom of a bad head gasket?
  14. I've tried it with no hose attached at all, and still nothing. It saddens me to see a small squirt of water each time I pull the rope. I'm gonna change the plug and fuel/air filters tommorrow and see if that helps.
  15. Can you explain this a little further? Does using a more fine filter cause fog?
  16. prices for the south and extension wand or x jet

At least for me, the big deal is not toting buckets or getting my x-jet hose tangled with my pressure hose. Using a 0030 or 0040 tip will throw chems. as high as an x-jet. I use a General hi-draw injector and can pull through 200' of hose. As far as wasting chems., I think the x-jet is more wasteful with it's "cloud" of chems that covers cars, neighbors houses, etc. Instead of completely covering your surface with chems. using your soap tip, replace the soap tip with your rinse tip for the last 5 or 6 seconds of your soaping and you wont waste any.
  17. I'm usually in too much of a hurry to remember the camera, but I am making a point now to click some before and after shots. They can really make a difference when closing a job. PT pine stained with DeckScapes Natural Wood Toner
  18. Last week's before and after

Sodium Hydroxide home brew cut 50/50 and downstreamed. I followed that with oxalic. HO had put Thomspson's on a few years prior. It was mainly gray and moldy. The after cleaning pic is right before I stained, not right after brightening.

  24. I found this site through a swimming pool forum that I visit. ODYSSEY MANUFACTURING Co. - Home Page Evidently, they manfacture a "super bleach" that doesn't degrade as quickly. The site does have a lot of interesting info on bleach degradation at certain temperatures.
  25. Lil ole Deck

Is the pool close enough to worry about runoff/debris? If so, how are you handling that?
