He just informed me that it's and Econoline XL, so that will definitely help. I think the space will be OK, but I just can't picture a good way to secure equipment and hosereels.

This may not be the appropriate forum, so if a mod. wants to move it, go ahead...
A friend of mine has a great deal on an E-150 work van. I am considering buying it, but I am a little skeptical about using it to work out of. Does anyone have van set-ups that you could post pics of? How could I manage my chem. and gasoline storage? How could I secure a skid unit?

I hate to be the devils advocate, but don't most of us buy our supplies from a vendor that has reasonable prices? We all love Bob and yes he has the best at it all, customer service and PRICE. But, would we buy from him if he was way over priced then his competitors?Do we thank Walmart became the power they are today by having the highest prices?
I looked at Eds site and I see the marketing tool he is using to get customers, and it doesn't look that bad to me (maybe I'm old, dumb and blind).
Yes, I agree he is advertising a price to get the calls and upsell so he can make a living at what he is good doing, selling his service and making customers happy, while like he said making a good profit.
I wish I could dictate the prices of house washes and roof cleaning in my area, but hay this is a business and we will always have competition which makes it interesting. We can't make the rules, we just have to deal with them and the monsters they can create. I love America, The land of Oppurtunity.
John,
Do you run into may "lowballers" in our area? I can't say that I have. I know of one guy that runs a $79 house wash ad, that's about it. Most of the rigs I see around here look like they are pretty professional. Decks on the other hand, are a different story. It seems like customers don't really care. You show them pictures of decks that are damaged by lack of maintenance and they still balk at your price. I've gotten pretty good at weeding the cheap ones out over the phone, so at least I'm not wasting my time as much.

Thanks for all the advice that I'm sure can't be found on the back of the can. I'm going to find out today which Sikkens it is. So is the majority against applying with an airless?
-
A customer called me yesterday and wants Sikkens Cetol applied to his deck. He said that he did his front porch, but he didn't want to do his deck because it was such a pain in the a$$. He said that the manufacturer states that it takes 2 coats and it must be brushed on. I am not sure yet which Cetol it is, but I looked on their website and they mention spraying as an acceptable application method for Cetol. I have personally never applied any Cetol. Does anyone have any advice that needs to be followed when applying Cetol with an airless?

Can understand the desire for new engine and a backup but next time just take it in to a small engine shop and they should be able to fix for under a c note.Your right, I would normally take it somewhere for repair, but I figured that I would never find such a great deal on a new engine, so I went ahead and bought at new one.

You said it runs on choke so plugs and coil not issue. After turning it off when it only ran choked, it never started back. That's why I thought it may something other than carb. I guess I'll pull the bowl off and see what's going on in there. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

If possible get the command pro engine...Its a whole lot better engineAlthough the hyperlink doesn't state it, this is a Command Pro. It has the exact same spec no. that my current engine has. Just out of curiosity, how many hours is everyone getting out of their small engines?
-
I have decided to replace the engine. This deal was just too good to pass up.
I'll just wait till the off season and work on the old one and make a back up machine out of it.

I tried a new plug today, with no success. I pulled the rope with the plug out of the head, but stuck in the plug boot. It appeared that the spark was pretty weak. I'll take a look at the coil. What is a symptom of a bad head gasket?
-
If your fuel supply has no cut off valve you may have to much fuel in the carb... Also make sure you have no pressure in your hose while cranking hold the trigger down......I've tried it with no hose attached at all, and still nothing. It saddens me to see a small squirt of water each time I pull the rope. I'm gonna change the plug and fuel/air filters tommorrow and see if that helps.

This unit has been setting for about 3 weeks. When I started it at the job for the first time, it would only run with the choke on. While messing with the choke, I realized that I had not attached a gun to the pressure hose, so I turned the machine off. It was running for about 20 seconds. When I attempted to start it (pull start), it wouldn't start. The plug looks OK. I pulled the air filter housing off to make sure the choke/throttle linkage was OK. When I pull the air filter, it had a small amount of motor oil on it, and it looked like motor oil may have been in the carb. Any thoughts?

Changing the gun filter to a different mesh can help with the fogging too. Most people dont realize that the filter selection is just as important as the tip selection.Andy
Can you explain this a little further? Does using a more fine filter cause fog?

I don't understand the big deal of downstreaming. I can't get the ratio I want, I can't get the chemical to the top of the structure without getting the ladders off the trailer, and I've got to run it through 200 or more feet of hose. A certain amount of chemicals get wasted this way (stuck in the hose) and I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone here that some of those liquids can be quite pricy. At least for me, the big deal is not toting buckets or getting my x-jet hose tangled with my pressure hose. Using a 0030 or 0040 tip will throw chems. as high as an x-jet. I use a General hi-draw injector and can pull through 200' of hose.
As far as wasting chems., I think the x-jet is more wasteful with it's "cloud" of chems that covers cars, neighbors houses, etc. Instead of completely covering your surface with chems. using your soap tip, replace the soap tip with your rinse tip for the last 5 or 6 seconds of your soaping and you wont waste any.

Looks good!whatd you use to clean the deck?
Sodium Hydroxide home brew cut 50/50 and downstreamed. I followed that with oxalic. HO had put Thomspson's on a few years prior. It was mainly gray and moldy.
The after cleaning pic is right before I stained, not right after brightening.

I found this site through a swimming pool forum that I visit.
ODYSSEY MANUFACTURING Co. - Home Page
Evidently, they manfacture a "super bleach" that doesn't degrade as quickly. The site does have a lot of interesting info on bleach degradation at certain temperatures.

Yaz,Strip & Seal. Cedar, PTP, T111 and Trex. Cabots oil Cedar goes on.
My life revolves around what my workers want to do. They are my life blood & if they want to work weekends, they let me know. They also remember the winter time when we ONLY do 8-10 decks a month (which is Jan-Feb).
Is the pool close enough to worry about runoff/debris? If so, how are you handling that?

Anyone working out of a van?
in Residential Pressure Washing

Beth,
By looking at pics of the Sprinter, it looks like a 3/4 ton van with a high roof. Is that correct? Is the high roof what makes it so great? What kind of setup/equipment do you have in it? How is it mounted? Do you have equipment all the way up to the rear of the front seats, or is there room for additional passengers?
