beyoungsr replied to One Tough Pressure's question in Residential Pressure Washing
OTP, Will bypassing after the unloader put unecessary pressure on your pump? Your pump is still maintaining the 5.0 gpm output and then the water hits a restriction in the plumbing. Do you have the unwanted water plumbed back into bypass? I realize that you have stated in earlier posts this is the way steam machines are configured. While this is correct, they run considerably lowwer psi. I would appreciate any input on the subject since I am considering a similar modification. -

OTP, Glad it went well. Did 2000 psi blow the walls? You are doing the same thing with a different approcah by being on the cold side. I was totaly wrong about the unloader bypass heating up the tank. So much for watching tv and typing. Using the burner hp hot approach does the same thing as you described. Except it allows you to bypass hot water back into the burner. This should raise the temp. significantly while keeping the gpm flow to the burner constant. Please let me know how yours works once you try it. -

OTP, Wow that does look like stickville. If I remember correctly you are running 5.3 gpm/3500 psi. I will guess you will add two ball valves and tee's onto your burner. Mark@Easy Clean introduced me to this concept awhile back. One to bypass the hp output by a gallon or more back into the the burner hp infeed. The other to close of the infeed when not using this device This should work ok. You may have to turn your thermostat down some so you don't over heat your water. Don't want to kick out the high temperature switch. If it was 460 gals. (3910 LBS.) and not $'s you were refering to, you could acheive this: bypass 1.0 gals =running 4.0 will give you 86 minutes bypass 2.0 gals =running 3.3 will give you 139 minutes minutes 500 psi should be more than enough pressure for that job. Try not to run in bypass very much since you will be heating your supply water up. This is kind of ironic since you were contemplating over clocking your pump a while back to increase output. LOL Hey be careful out there in the middle of no where. Take some one or thing with you if you can. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Interesting stuff! -
Possible Cheap Burner Remote Control
beyoungsr replied to beyoungsr's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Well we tried this remote out on this fine 36 F morning. It worked great. Used the remote to cut the burner on and off from various distances. The longest distance was 138'. On and off and back on with no problems at all. All engagements were however made with a clear line of sight. Anyway I am as tickled as a pig in...........! The remote will operate up to eight additional devices once you add additional modules. Now I am really thinking. Hmmm. Burner, lights, soap on and off ect. ect. -

OTP, Yes HD is where I bought mine. -
The question should not be who has one, rather how did you get yours????? LOL!

Dale, I'd be very grateful if I could receive a copy also: byoung@hot.rr.com Thanks very much,

Hmmmmmmmmmm, What does Mr. Gates do when he finds or hears about somebody pirating his wares?? Technicaly you didn't claim the pictures were yours! That sounds like another Bill from the past. Kind of twisting the words to his benefit. No offense meant but reading this gave me a chuckle tonight. I guess we can assume the appropriate party received an appolgy or was that an attack? And now we know the rest of the story-Oh sorry Paul Harvey that is your line. Good Day!

Ronnie, 1/4" and 3/8" o-rings. dental pick garden hose washers heavy 3/4" contractors water hose. 5/8" may work. Use shortest lead possible. 30 weight nondetergent oil for the pump. Your choice of oil for the engine depending on conditions. p.w. plugs and couplers silicon spray oil spare spark plug metric and SAE hand tools extra nylon pull cord antifreeze for winter storage quick detachable pressure gauge Additional desired nozzles to lowwer pressure spare unoader bypass hose if applicable water soluable fitting compound or teflon tape good tire gauge This could be increased tremendously depending on machine type. Is you machine direct drive or belt drive? Hot cold? Is your location Mesquite, Texas?

Tony, You read my mind on the coke. Maybe this is one for cable progam Myth Busters! It seems like way back in school we palced a piece of meat in coke and a day latter it was gone! Obviously the exposure time was longer, but the eye is more sensitive. I know that a coke (genericly speaking) will clean corroded battery terminals quickly. No offense meant to Beth and Rob!!!!!!!!!

Increasing pump output
beyoungsr replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have to post a quick follow up. The pump problem was with an AR pump! They are the folks that worked me through that problem. I had e-mailed one of General Pumps engineers about converting a d.d. pump to belt drive and some other questions Anyway OTP I encourage you to call or e-mail G.P. with you pump questions. They are very responsive and will give you the facts. By doing this it will releive your curiousity and put the facts in order. Interesting concept. Let us know what they tell you if you decide to follow up! -
Increasing pump output
beyoungsr replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
OTP, I think you will eventually get burned by over clocking the pump. At least now you have a warranty. Once you go over clocking, it will be gone. Is it worth it? I can tell you that GP stands behind their products when operated per specification. Anyway here is one of their engineers name and e-mail address. Chuck Welch chuckw@gpcompanies.com Obviously I am quite happy with GP and their product support! -
Rfritz, Sounds like a heck of a setup. Wow being able to spray six stories high with a 40 degree tip is amazing. I hope the water/chem tank is galvenized and not aluminum. Bleach will eat up the aluminum. How many gallons of H20 does the tank hold? Does it have baffles? Can you explain how the chems blend inline? Where is the diesel tank for the burner? Any chance on seeing some larger pics? How much did the equipment end up costing? Is this a two gun machine?

Onecall, I would make sure you lubricate the wheel bearings like Jon mentioned after the cleaning. If not it could come back to haunt you. Not sure if they are metal or plastic carts. If plastic I would make sure they will take the heat ok first. Would be terrible if they distorted. Be careful with any soaps you use. Kids skin will have direct contact with surfaces. Have seen them being washed and than dried with the large carpet blowers . Hey take two surface cleaners and mount them at cart height verticaly opposed to each other. Have a self propelled track and run the carts between them. Next have two blowers setup the same way. Good quick effective wash! Would only need 1-2 people!

Herbie 1, Once you install the guards the customer will no longer need your services. Seems like a one time up sale!
-
Tony, Tell them when the brass tarnishes it is time for deck service.
-
Tony, Ever thought about adding a small brass plate on the railing referancing your company. Deck finished by A+Plus Address phone # Something nice though not cheesey. Bet the custumer would give you the nod!
-
Tony, Thank you for the reply. I have made a similar cart and am in the process of buying a new shur flo pump for it. Lasted 14 months. I use it mostly for SH. Will add additional ball valves this time for flushing of the pump and additional chem use. Do you think a hose reel would hold up for this type of use? Looked at a lot of your deck pics today. You do nice work!
-
Tony, I beleive I read that you are using air line hose on your shurflow. How does it do in cold weather? Does it unroll and roll up ok?
-
Tony, Have you tried this valve? Any idea on cost? Would it be safe to say it would fit all Honda engines?
-
Paul, When Mike (Oneness) placed the Hudson valve drawing on another board he just referanced it as a drawing. The posted drawing did not show the copyright and the owner. I assumed this was Mike's drawing.
