Thanks Ryan. I wasn't sure. It sounds like a no brainer but I know you are not exposed to respiratory hazards unless it is aerosolized, so that is why I wasn't sure. Will scrubbing the vapors with a carbon filter work for him? Chemically I mean. Scott

I'm all for the spill protection, but not sure I'd go to that much expense in a building I didn't own. You may consider having the company fill six separate 55 gallon drums instead of one 300 gallon tank. If one drum ruptured you'd have at most 55 gallons on the ground so you're retention basin you want to build would only need to be a couple of inches high. It may save you some money since you don't own the building. As far as the corrosion goes, it is a valid concern. I personally would not store it outside.Though I don't think NAOCL vapor(from simply venting) is corrosive, I would check. If it is, I would check with a vendor and see if you could vent the tank (or open drum) through a carbon filter instead. Congratulation on the warehouse space by the way. Scott

What are you using if not "REAL" Citraklean?? That is what confused me in your post. Scott

Nice truck. But why so much truck??? Scott

That's what I'm talking about!!! That sounds like a good time fixing to happen. Scott

I would spend the money on trailer but not the boards. IMHO the boards should be replaced every couple of years anyway. I'm not saying not to do the boards just do the trailer for sure. I've got mine broke down for Christmas again and I am going to spray the inside and underneath of mine in January (DYI job) and see how it works. Scott

I'm sure Russ ,Bob, or Paul carry them. I bought several as back ups from Steve Rowlett when I started a couple of years ago. They were like 6 bucks or so back then. Here is a picture Hope this helps Scott -
Deck Services Can Help Builders Clean Up
racechaser replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I agree with the PR news release facts, and I agree with Ken and Rod. I guess my beef is they haven't done a whole lot to bring our industry into the mainstream or gone out of their way to make us more profitable with add ons and the like. I know it's up to me and we can't all be spoonfed, yada yada yada yada, so don't start on that. With me it's merely the principle, they haven't done much for the pressure washers that operate in North America, so why run out and be concerned about deck and rail builders if not for self serving interests of a few that are trying to pad their pockets. I just wish the members would see the conflict of interest. just venting Scott -
Deck Services Can Help Builders Clean Up
racechaser replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I own a frame nailer, compressor, square, level, stringline, chalkbox, laser level, chopsaw, and a sliding compond miter saw. Maybe I'll add deck building on to my pressure washing business. Sir, I noticed while washing your house, you had a nice spot for a deck. can I build one for you? Oh, you already have a quote from a deckbuilder. Well what is it and I'll do it cheaper. Yes I'm qualified. You see the PWNA is partnered with NADRA because both orgs believe these two business go hand in hand. They know that if you can do one, you can do both. Watch the deck pro's come a running then, all crying unfair. IMHO SCott -
Exactly what I was saying. This per hour stuff is going to confuse, discourage and cause huge price swings between newbies and their competition eventually causing their demise and failure. Everyone is not going to make $150.00 per hour. A newbie may make half of that even charging the same as an established company simply because of slower equipment and a "new washer learning curve". I mean set up and break down is a routine that each needs to develop on their own. It is also something that can shave an hour off a job. Is your inexperience going to cost the client an extra $150.00 because you're not effecient and very disorganized. Scott
-
If you made a hundred dollars an hour and were using a 5 GPM machine for this job you did good. If you had an 8 GPM machine you may have done the house in half the time which would have put you per hour rate at $150-200 dollar an hour range. I'm gonna really step on toes here but to me a house wash is a fixed price commodity. The quality of chems, speed and technique, proper planning and size capacity of equipment are what determines what your per hour net rate ends up being. I mean if i do a house today for $350.00 (let's assume it takes me 3 hours) with my 4 GPM machine. Now this summer I buy an 8 gpm machine and can do it in an hour and a half now, Is my price going down to $225.00??? Or say i bid another house with my 8 GPM machine for $450.00, and that machine breaks, and I have to use a 4 GPM backup machine. Does my price go to $900.00 so I can make $150.00 per hour?? I personally think you are confusing newer people with these mandatory rates you think everybody should be charging. Strictly MY opinion though. I know it is for the good of the industry you are discussing this, but I think more is involved than a mandatory rate. Scott

Wasn't the year before the year of the "Great Christmas Feeze"? I think it even snowed. Granted it was not cold one single day other than that. Scott
-
No. I think you misunderstood. I meant to imply that they are good if you are installing any form of gutter protection. Scott
-
This is an outstanding product for gutters IF you are installing protection on them. This product has some of the drawbacks as other forms of protection except THIS product allows an incredible amount of water pass through without EVER being overloaded. Most other forms don't catch all the water and it passes over the gutter. These are for people with leaves that continually fill up gutters. Leaves do blow off really well. Ice dams I cannot speak of as we do not have them here. Did see a beaver dam once here though. So this opinion is strictly for people in the warmer climates. Scott
