Trace....go with barndoors. The trailer isn't that high, and is not difficult to move load/unload equipment. The problems you mentioned are very true. Make sure to also order a side door.

Graff, You need to get a digital cam and take some pix man! You'd be surprised how much easier it is to sell jobs when you got pix to show. Plus we'd like to see em' here too!

Graff, it will become apparant how long you need to dwell. If you apply with a brush you'll see the black streaks just melt off. I don't think anyone can tell you exactly how long to dwell, you just need to watch and go with what you see. And hot water is not necessary to clean gutters.
-
Are you sure you leave it on 2-5 min Scott? That's along time, I think we dwell less than a minute, and sometimes, even that long the stuff starts to dry and has to be re-wetted again. I'm thinking that dwell time may be different based on geographic location as well as hardness of the water the chem is mixed in. No scientific proof, just a gut feeling.

I'm not a squeeler.

While fresh pizza is always best, frozen comes in handy in a pinch. Tombstone is not bad at all.

Seems like whenever I have launched one, it's a green one, tough to find in the grass.

I use ratcheting nylon tie down straps I bought at Lowes. Make sure to check the ratings that they can handle the weight of the tank when filled. When I ordered my trailer I had factory installed tie down rings installed in the floor. You can also buy them and install them yourself, however they won't have as high a rating as the factory installed, which are welded to the frame supports underneath.

We had a couple Schlotskis for awhile too, then they just closed up and went away. Too bad, they made a tasty sandwich.

Mike, Try Kmart or Walmart, or even local hardware stores during pool season. I get 10.25% for around $2/gal in plastic disposable jugs.

I attached a pic of my old truck and 12' trailer. As you can see, it just fits between two driveways. My new truck is a foot longer, so it wouldn't even fit between two driveways. Comparing a moving van to a truck/trailer is apples to oranges.

I gotta vote for Dunkin Donuts.

Mike, Buying chems remains one of my frustrations. Shipping costs add up fast, and the only way to reduce the sting of freight charges is to buy in larger quantities, because when looking at freight charges, the more freight you have, the lower the price per pound attributed to shipping. In other words, and this is just an example: It might cost $25 to ship 100 pounds of material for 1000 miles. It might cost $60 to ship 500 pounds for 1000 miles. So it then pays to order larger quantities of chemical. Easier said then done. I have somewhat limited storage, so it is harder for me to order and store several pallets of different chems. Not to mention how much $$ it takes to buy by the pallet.

The only problem I have with an extended length trailer is finding places to park it. Especially if you have to take it into residential areas. My hot water rig is in a 12' now, and I wish it was 16'. Sure bigger is nice to carry everything and the kitchen sink, but in reality, it may be too cumbersome for everyday towing. I think if I needed something bigger than 16', I'd just go with a box truck.

We have Speedways here too. They just started a new program called with a Speedy card. Tracks purchases and allots points. After so many points you can redeem for merchandise....including those gawd awful oscar meyer 2-for-a-buck hot dogs. The only way I can choke those down is to load up the dog with every condiment they have. If I have to eat something there I get one of those round cheeseburger dogs. Reminds me of a funny story....one of my workers eats those hot dogs all the time. One time I asked him how in the world he could stand eating those things all the time. He replied "They ain't so bad, and they make a turd". Gack!

I don't think so, at least none that I remember seeing. And I do try new sub places, cause that's one of my favorite food groups....:)

In Michigan, it is against the law to offer individual discounts. Group plans or multiple policy rates is a different issue.

A couple of the places I clean concrete at gives me free food. One of them is Einstein Bagels, I love em' especially the asiago cheese bagel with the shmear. When I'm on the run and don't bring lunch, I try to stay away from the fried stuff as much as possible. Blimpies, & Subway are better choices to get at least half-way healthy lunches.

I was at first surprised when some of my crew were complaining about problems with gloves. Turns out the powder used in some of the gloves is the culprit. The powder doesn't bother me, but I found out it bothered others. I now always order powderless nitrile gloves, which so far is working out for everyone.

How about Detroit? We've got 2005 All Star Game & 2006 SuperBowl. So it must not be too bad.
