  1. Well, we stained our first deck, using Wood Defender Deck Stain (oil based) and was very happy with it when we left, but when we returned the next day, found some very "shiney" spots. At first I thought it might be I had left too much on, but not really sure what happened. Any suggestions on why? and what the heck do I do now. I tried mineral spirts but all that did was take a a little bit off the top.
