  1. I am very small potatoes and that is fine by me. I started a few years ago. First year I paid off all my equipment. Last year, made a few $$$ before shoulder surgery cut my season short. This year will be my first full season on the job. I only want to do vinyl houses and make a few thousand $$ for the year. If I made $6000 that would be an amazing year for me. I teach full-time and coach football in the fall. I like powerwashing. It's a great spring job. All that being said, is insurtance and an LLC a great idea for someone in my shoes? I am not out there blowing siding off of houses. I am very careful about what i am doing and the products I use. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Honest question here, are you at all familiar with the chemical processes behind wood restoration? PH scale, caustics, acids, etc?

I do not. i know I use a stripping material then a brightener. I amnot sure where to gather all of that information and would love to know more about chemical process involved in washing. i have only done a few decks for friends with stripper/brightner at low PSI so no harm done but I want to know more before I start doing it for $$.

  3. I got a call to do a house and owner wants the roof done too. I havent done one and did not want to, but I'll give it a go on a few friends houses first. Few questions.

    1. Should I be using 12% bleach or should I use a cleaner?

    2. If I am using an x jet, should I add water? What proportion should I use?

    3. Any added risks to the surrounding areas I should be concerned with?

    4. Should I do the house first then the roof or vice versa?

    5. I was planning on just using bleach/water with the x-jet then a duel lance wand with 25 degree tip to clean it off. Does that sound right?

    6. How long of a dwell time should it have?

    7. Where do I go to add a signature on this sight?

Thanks. Any other tpe would be great.

  4. As i am just starting, I volunteered to do my aunt's deck. I used sunbrite's rip it with a surface cleaner from HD that actually worked great. The deck came out very nice however, when I was done surface cleaning, I wanted to wash/rinse it off. I sprayed water on the deck which was no bigger than 300 sq. ft. for a long time and I was still rinsing off the cleaner. I used 6 oz. of the cleaner, a gallon of water, a pump sprayer, and 10-15 min. of dwell time.

  5. Just did my first house today, a buddy's. Older aluminum white siding. Wanted to try bleach free so i used 1/2 powerhouse, 1/2 simple green, and 4 gallons of water. Not sure if it was the recipe or dwell time, but left it on 15 min. then washed off but it barely made a difference. Not sure if an air foamer would help because it would allow for more sitting time or it's just the conconction i brewed up. Can't imagine I would have a good cleaning when I spray the cleaner on and it comes right off though (thanks gravity).

    Thanks

  7. I bought this gutter cleaning tool from home depot. seemed like a cheaper alternative to the gutterball.

PowerCare 3,000 psi Gutter-Cleaner Attachment for Gas Pressure Washers - AP31052 at The Home Depot. Should I be using the max psi when using this? I have a dual lance wand but when the wand is tightened so the max pressure should come out, the water that sprays from the gutter nozzle has very little pressure but the gutter nozzle uses max pressure with a regular gun/wand but i have no way to adjust the psi.

  8. I have my first job next week. I am concerned about my mix of chemicals. If the house has a lot of mildew/mold, do I have to use bleach? There are a lot of plants very close to the house that surround the whole house. I want to use eco friendly products but are strong enough to do the job without bleach but i have not been able to find any with really good reviews. As a result, i was going to use Powerhouse (sunbrite) bleach (12%) and water with my m5 xjet with no proportioner. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
