  1. What went wrong?

Kurt. I'm dealing with a house right now, two weeks after washing, that I'm playing the blend the ox cleaned vinyl into the old vinyl game. Luckily she's in my neighborhood and on my way to/from days jobs. I did TOO good of a job cleaning this one. Instead of simply cleaning the house and not trying to be hero and bust out the Ox, I'd be done and paid. HO had some new random vinyl lower/bottom courses put in and the manufacturer confirmed it was the same color when originally installed. Before cleaning it looked and entirely different shade. I now realize how dirty and polluted 4-5 year old vinyl can get. I also now know how strong OX can be. Ox has restored this old dingy vinyl back to factory new. So much I'm thinking of this as an entire house upsell at big $$$. Problem is now with this house I'm trying to blend in from very clean on the bottom to clean but dingy as you move up the house. /neil
  2. I've given up ..

Nice Ken. What appeals most is it's symmetry. The page feels linear and horizontal, which for me is a natural element. Visual clutter is death on any page. I'm used to seeing navigation links in a left vertical panel. Yours are fine, but you might make the nav tabs a bit bigger. What's your fee...I'm heading down that road too! /neil
  3. Wood Restoration Photo Contest

    I'm charging the batteries!
  4. State of Affairs - Gas Prices etc

Here in the mountains we run our trucks on corn liquor and drink the gasoline. Wait....I have that backasswards. Sometimes you can't tell the difference! $2.26 and fallin. /neil
  5. Two thumbs up for Talladega Nights!

Reagan and I had a date night last night. Wings, bucket of cold beer, and Talladega Nights at the movies. We were howling the entire movie. Even if you aren't a Will Ferrell fan or have any shred of connection to southern rednecks and NASCAR, you'll still laugh your ass off! /neil
  6. Two thumbs up for Talladega Nights!

Paul what's your verdict? Did you get in to see this? Rainy here today...my mind is all over the place, obviously!' /neil
  7. best way to attach a float valve

Jon. Did you not have a float valve setup on your last tank? A hudson will go through the 5" opening. Shouldn't have any prob mounting it at the apex of the top of the tank, maybe between the opening and the band with the arm and float pointed towards the end. You might want to put your inlet and bypass on the opposite end of the tank from your outlet port. Sometimes I'll get air in the lines at low water level from the agitation of water from the supply and bypass coming in from the top. There's quite a bit of force/pressure coming from the bypass line. /neil
  8. First Acrylic Strip

Patrick. You can boost with propylene glycol. Prestone's LowTox in the white jug or Sierra something or other is the competing low tox formula. AutoZone carries the Prestone. Add up to 10% of solution. Call Russell Cissell anyway. /neil
  9. We finished this one up today. Full cedar resto (3 sides only). 2yr failing Clear Solutions looked all dry and brown and lifeless. Brought this old girl back nice and gently. WTW extended with spirits, warm honey gold. Homeowners loooooooved it. Add it to the portfolio and keep on a git'in it ;) I'm sleeping in the the morning... cheers, /neil
  10. This weekend's work

Gracias mi amigos. What was that big brown ewok carrier on treads in Star Wars? I kept waiting for this house to rise up and roll off into the desert sun. Fun, fun project and finally some cooler days here in the mountains. Hasta manana... /neil
  11. This weekend's work

Snapped this one and thought I'd share for any 'newer' woodies... The left side is what happens to cedar stripping with heavy caustic. Right side is after neutralizing / brightening with Citralic. So don't doodoo your bloomers if your wood goes all black on ya. /neil
  12. Myrtle Beach Golf

Mike. Mystical Golf (cheesy name, right) runs The Witch, Wizard, and ManOWar. ManOWar is my least favorite track. The Wizard is a great and fun course, it's next to ManOWar up off 501 going towards Conway. The Witch is another great course and reasonable and it's on 544 between Surfside and 501. I know the greens keeper and can play for freebie. As a heads up, The Masters means an entirely different thing in Myrtle Beach;) /neil
  13. Ernesto

Shaneage and Homeey....what up. I'm calling it Painintheassto. Poured all day today. Got some good planning and stratemagizin' done, though. Painted the front door too, check that honey-do off. later. Shaneage, i'm figuring you to be single with all that work. Right?
  14. Ipe.. great wood, but....

Good morning to you, Rick. Haven't heard much out of you lately. You've either been real busy with good weather or have fallen off the HeineyWagon! ;) Did you get some samples put out on this FloodPro for hardwoods? Anyone else (aka "The Jury") form an opinion from sample results? Where'd Hugogo? FloodPro's $2,500 full bleed ad in this months Deck Builder reminded me again of this thread. It's right behind a good article on Siberian Larch. /neil
  15. Oktoberfest in Helen, GA.......Prost!!!

Calling all TN, GA, SC, NC or who else evers....anyone ever been or hoping to go this year? It's creeping up on one of my favorite months in the mountains. Oktoberfest in Helen is just a damn good time. I usually reunite with some old Jackson Hole buddies and camp and stay bent and pickled for three days. The more the merrier.... /neil
  16. Oktoberfest in Helen, GA.......Prost!!!

Jon. When we do meet up at Freaknik we shouldn't have too hard a time finding one another. Ahhh, JH. I was there from '94 to '01. Let's figure a way to set up a JH business around what we're doing now. I'm dead serious. We'll need an 'office' there we can write off. I mainly miss Zonker Stout at the Brew Pub and a freezer full of antelope and elk. /neil
  17. Smoke look on Soffit & Facia

Kory. Are you sure your hypochlorite ratio was high enough? I've had painted vertical trim/fascia looked like soot was mildew that just needed 2% or more. /neil
  18. help with trailer setup

Actually, my supply hose is 3/4" polybraid from tank to pump, not 1/2". /neil
  19. A thread for Ipe lovers

I'm hearing 'ironwood' refered to as the heartwood of any ipe brand. Much like a #1 or premium grade. Is this correct, or is it being misused in place of the Iron Woods brand company? http://www.ironwoods.com/default.asp /neil
  20. help with trailer setup

Yes, Paul. It's spring-tensioned to the belt drive guard.
  21. help with trailer setup

Good morning, Lyn. I know where you are...setting up your first rig can feel a bit overwhelming if you don't have anyone local to go to to show exactly what they mean. I'll see if I can add a bit... Remote mounting of the unloader means using an unloader block that mounts directly to your pw frame. I purchased mine from ACR Products. In the image i've attached, the unloader block is the square brass block with the unloader (k7) mounted on top of it. An unloader block is just a solid brass block with a 90 degree 3/8ths line drilled through it. Both ports are 3/8ths female pipe thread (FPT). This type of setup gives you more flexibility on where and how to mount unloader, you can avoid any odd in/out or wrong direction hose angles with brass 90 degree elbows. As paul said, it prevents you from having a heavy unloader hanging off your pump head. The solid mount prevents vibrations. If you don't already have a high pressure hose reel and 200' of hp line, you should budget this in. If you do already, your hp line will come off your pressure side of the unloader to your hose reel, so you shouldn't have to worry about any stress on that connection if it's a bad angle. Here's my schematic in the picture. It's a good setup for my needs. Supply hose from source > inline filter at tank > 90degree brass elbow > drilled hole through tank > hudson float valve inside top of poly tank > pvc outlet port > pvc ball valve > pvc T junction with 1" clear tubing going towards back of trailer with another ball valve on end to fill buckets, wash hands, etc. > other side of T is supply side 1/2" polybraid goes through inline sediment filter > bottom inlet of pump head > hp outlet of pump brass street elbow > 2' high pressure jump hose with QC's on each end > inline pressure gauge > inlet side of unloader > unloader mounted directly to block > hp line from unloader with QC socket > 10' hp jump hose to inlet swivel on hose reel > 200' hp hose on reel > heavy duty ball valve with swivel > gun. You'll see the black 1/4" line coming from the unloader, that's the bypass back to top of poly tank. Call me anytime. Hope this helps. /neil
  22. The Bible Verse Game

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Prov 16:9. A mentor shared this with me...it's central to any business plan. /neil
  23. just bought switchback XT

Hmmmmm....what if I dropped a dart head down a 3' lance with no tip? Wonder if I could launch it through the side of my trailer? I'll report back on this one. /neil
  24. just bought switchback XT

...cause your always the one talking! I can't get a <huntin'> word in there.....:lgbounces LOLJK! As much as we like darts, we should have made the connectrion.
  25. just bought switchback XT

Clean...how dare you rub it in a Bro's face like that! You're about a month ahead of me. I'll be gearing up for an annual trip in January to Creighton Island, GA. Big 'ol hawgs there. We usually end up eating and drinking more than we sit in the woods! Hunting, and sadly...fishing, haven't been a priority this past year, so I'm still sling'in my old CSS. My Dad uses a Switchback and loves it. /neil
