  1. I had a customer last week that has an IPE deck that is 2 years old. The home owner used an expensive oil based stain on the sun exposed deck. I used a light soap and bleach solution and light pressure to clean. The section of decking under cover did not look good. This section looked a little grey, like there was an enamel finish failing and flaking. I wasn't sure what was happening on this section of the deck. The area most worn looking was the higher traffic part near slider doors. I was concerned that the light bleach solution may have discolored the stain? But the strange thing was it looked more like an enamel than a stain. At the front of the house he has yet to treat the IPE on the covered patio. Here the wood looked good. What would you recommend for maintenance and to deal with what seems to be failing stain on the back? The home owner told me he spent over $100 per gallon? It seemed the oil stain was on top of the wood like a poly only on the shade covered area and the sun exposed wood looked ok.
  2. This was our first year with the PWNA. Our company benefited tremendously from the conference. John, I echo the positive remarks. As a new member I was impressed, especially in light of the pounding the PWNA has taken on some threads. In taking 5 of the certifications I think the overall value was good. With a few tweaks I think some of the less developed certifications could be even more strong. I intend on being a continuing member and I was pleased it was such a positive time for the organization as well. I met some really fantastic people and found Mr. Hinderliter's stories, knowledge, and passion as a highlight of the show. Eric Clark did a great job. He showed quality of character with the rather shocking and funny winning of the 50/50. PWNA BOD - well done!
  3. black mildew on brick

Russell that looks like an interesting product. How have you charged on the upsell with the product?
  4. Gutter cleaning ?

If you don't like ladders it might be a good idea to not do gutters. Just sayin'....flat work?
  5. We have been doing wood decks on ocassion for years using pressure and a lot of care but with doing some reading it seems low pressure and the proper chems can do better than pressure. How often do you have to use a pressure cleaner with atleast 3000 PSI? If we used a non bleach percarboante method would this eliminate the need for power? The threads seem spilt on sh or not so I'm not clear. When I have used bleach I have had to pressure clean off the grey color. I need to qualify that I haven't used Oxalic to brighten afterwards. Does the Oxalic eliminate the grey wood fiber or is pressure still needed before brightening?
  6. Thanks for the helpful information! Can you recommend a variable pressure wand?
  7. So irrespective of chemical application high pressure is required to clean virtually all wood decks?
  8. I tried to get the signature set. I hope it worked.
