Let me offer that link again.I think it will work this time.http://surviveoutdoors.com This link will show the species of banana spider I found here in central Pa.
  2. what kind?

cccp,...I checked them out on the internet and you're right, there are different variations of this species.I found this one here.http://www.surviveoutdoors.com/reference/spiders/banana_spider
  3. what kind?

One Tough Pressure,...thanks man that helped alot.
  4. I am using a roller pump for roof cleaning and was wondering how far you can reduce the hose on the discharge side of the pump. It's port is 3/4".I have been using 5/8" hose. How much more can it be reduced and how does this effect the pumps pressure? I would like to reduce it down to 3/8" due to the weight and storage benefits. Thank you very much!
  5. reducing roller pump

Actually Don I never even gave it a thought,so thanks for making me aware.
  6. reducing roller pump

Thanks Don, Yes it does have an unloader and I will take that advice and give it a try.
  7. Can someone answer these questions?

When you buy new tires they have 3/4" tread, then they wear out to 1/4" or 1/8". Always wondered where all that tire goes that has been worn off.You would think it would look like snow drifts along the side of the road, yet you do not see ANY residue at all.Oh well, I gotta go to work, I'll leave this question to the experts.
  8. downloading movies

AC New guy,...thanks man, that's the kind of info I was looking for.
  9. I plumbed up a roller pump yesterday.I plumbed it from the tank to the "in" side of the pump,...and plumbed the by-pass and discharge hose to the "out" side of the pump.I am using a gas engine to power it.Problem is,it runs backward in this configuration.I switched the two sides and it pumps fine this way.Questions: Was this pumped stamped wrong? Does a gas engine run different direction than PTO and/or electric? Will running backwards hurt anything? Thanks for any input.
  10. roller pump running backward?

Thanks for the replies,...Jim Carroll you are correct,I did a little more research and found that there are pumps made for PTO,electric and gas.The gas pumps run opposite.I guess I did'nt do enough research beforehand. But I just figured they would all operate the same. They should mark them on the box as to which application they're for.Oh well, lesson learned. Thanks again for the help.
  11. Cleaning gutters with vac.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, but in my opinion while you're up there picking out the sticks you may as well just finish by hand.I've found that cleaning gutters by hand is the cleanest and most controlled way of doing this job.
  12. How Would You Handle This?

It's not any fun doing a job that you know is not "normal" procedure. It's nice to jobs where the end result is to the positive,.. instead of adding to an already existing problem.
  13. Minimum Charge

I do small jobs and charge what they are worth.I did the gable end of a car port a few years ago and ended up with three rental houses to clean for the same person. You can usually fit small jobs in along with other jobs.I sometimes do small jobs on Saturdays because that's when other potential customers are home and you might just pick up some more work.
  14. What type of hose do you use on the discharge side of the pump?Thank you.
  15. house pictures

Pressure Pros,...It ends when it doesn't feel right anymore. The End!
  16. house pictures

Pressure Pros,...A house wash is sides of the house not the roof or surroundings. Not only that but others driving by may not know the gutters were not included in the price, they might think that you were unable to clean them and may just deter future customers.Still couldn't imagine doing a house without doing the gutters.I'm more concerned as to whether I'm happy at the end of a job as opposed to the customer.Because I know if I'm happy with the results the customer is happy also,.....because I'm picky.
  17. house pictures

In my estimates gutters are included in every bid.To me it just goes without saying because gutters are part of the exterior of a house, not separate like a roof or a deck.I know there are other guys and gals who separate the gutters from the rest of the house when pricing but I couldn't even imagine doing that. It's easier to just include in your total house wash bid and make a nice job out of it altogether. In fact if I was a customer I would expect the gutters to be included in the exterior house wash. We're all different though and take a different approach on things.
  18. house pictures

Nice job on the siding, but I agree with Degrafreed about the gutters.I never do a job without doing the gutters. When I bid on a house wash the gutters are included in the bid without even saying. You want others to look at how nice a job you did,........not overlook the good work to point out the bad or the spots you didn't do.Adrian, don't take this personal or as a whack at your work,....just providing a little insight.
  19. Black streaks?

Ryan, now that you bring up the vinyl gutter thing, I do remember seeing this problem on plastic or vinyl gutters. One more hurdle to jump I guess. And in my experience the plastic gutters are harder to clean than aluminum. But then again I don't run into the plastic ones very often.
  20. Estimates - how do you handle them?

I give free estimates because I need customers more than they need me.That is just part of this type of business.
  21. Black streaks?

Well, whatever it is I am very thankful for all the replies so far.I did'nt realize it was such a hot debate.I thought it was going to be a simple answer,... and I actually felt like a greenhorn even asking this question,.....I don't feel quite so alone on this now. Thanks to all!!
  22. Hypochlorites?

Could someone please tell me if there is a significant difference between calcium hypochlorite and sodium hypochlorite?
  23. Black streaks?

Good answers,...thank you very much!! I always like to know more than the customer.
  24. Hypochlorites?

    Thanks, good detailed answers.
  25. brick

I did a roof today and the customer asked if I could remove this white, very hard substance from his chimney.I seen this before and said "no guarantees on that stuff coming off" ,.........and I wasn't surprised when it did'nt come off.I removed some but the bit that is remaining is seemingly indestructible.Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks for any and all responses.
